SENIOR FEE The senior fee is $130.00 before December 20 and $150.00 after winter break. What does your fee pay for? A partial list below: · Senior buttons · Grub on the green (7) Food & Supplies · Late-in breakfast (1) · Senior T-shirt · Senior superlatives in the yearbook · Senior Family Picnic & Senior Awards Ceremony · Cords and medals for seniors @ graduation · Salutatorian cup/Valedictorian cup/Rivers award · Graduation ceremony (Flowers, program, piano rental, etc.) · SC Diploma/SOA Credential & diploma cover · SOA Credential stoles & embroidering · Senior gift to school Students with fees paid will be able to enjoy our Grubs on the Green throughout the year. Students who have not paid fees are able to eat with us for $5.00. Ms. Fitzgerald (Room 4115) will be receipting the senior fees. Please make checks out to SOA. If you send a check with your student, please make sure to let them know that they should not interrupt a class. Place the check in an envelope with the student name, homeroom teacher and any other instructions written on the front. You are able to pay fees online with our new service: RevTrak. · Visit our school Web Store at https://ccschoolofthearts.revtrack.net/ · Select High School · Select Senior Fee · Click Add to Shopping Cart SOA DIPLOMA HOURS Mr. Lindgren or Ms. Miller will be collecting diploma hours for the senior class. A schedule for turning in the hours will be made soon. GRUB ON THE GREEN As a special privilege for seniors, we will have a group lunch in the Pegasus Garden 7 times during the year (please see dates on the calendar). These lunches could be a cookout with burgers & hotdogs, deli subs, pizza, or other creative cuisine. Students who have paid the senior fee get to eat for free. Students who have not paid the fee can join us for $5. SENIOR LATE-IN October 16, 2019- while other high school students are testing during the morning, we give the senior class a late-in as an added perk. On this day, seniors will be informed as to what time to report to school and will sign in at the attendance office.
POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL GAME (January 31, 2020) The February Grub on the Green will be punctuated by the PowderPuff Football game. Senior girls challenge the junior girls to a rousing game of touch football with the boys coaching, refereeing and cheering on the teams as cheerleaders. It’s a lot of fun! Practices will be determined by the coaches and might include after school time. The faculty coach will be Ms. Mahoney. More information to come! SENIOR PRIVILEGES/SENIOR PIN Another perk of making to your senior year is special privileges. At the beginning of the year, each senior will receive his/her senior pin. The pin must be displayed with the student ID in order for the senior to get their daily privileges. These privileges include but may not be limited to: · 5 minutes early for lunch dismissal · 5 minutes early for end-of-the-day dismissal · Grub on the Greens and special senior activities The pin is for the students to keep. Senior pins (and privileges) may be revoked for the following reasons: · failing one or more classes (per quarter) · suspension or legal action from the school (per year) · discipline referrals (per quarter) · administrative authority SPIRIT WEEK Twice during the school year, SOA celebrates its spirit through special dress-up days and spirit activities. Please note that all school and CCSD policies are to be adhered to during these events (dress code, behavioral expectations, etc.). Check the calendar for dates. SENIOR SPIRIT WEEK May 18-22 is a week dedicated to seniors and will be celebrated by fun activities. Friday, May 22 will be the final Grub on the Green. SENIOR FINAL EXAMS Schedule TBD SENIOR BULLETIN BOARD The senior bulletin board is located in the Arts Building next to room 4101 (across from the visual arts rooms). All information will be posted there. Have your student check it often!
GRADUATION INFO ● CEREMONY Graduation Ceremony date will be determined by CCSD and will be held at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center (NCPAC). Graduation performance rehearsals will be held at the Rose Maree Myers Theater (RMMT) on designated days before the ceremony. Check the calendar for these important dates. The Graduation Ceremony will be open to family and guests on a first-come, first-seated basis. There will be no tickets distributed for the ceremony. ● MANDATORY REHEARSALS/MEETINGS Seniors are required to be at all graduation rehearsals and meetings. Students who are absent from these rehearsals and meetings will not be able to walk across the stage with their class or perform at the graduation ceremony. Please mark your calendars with these important dates! ● GOLDEN TICKET Seniors will get a “Golden Ticket” after Spring Break. It is a list of all the fees to be paid or signed off, lock return, textbook return, library book return, etc. that must be completed and will serve as the student’s admission to graduation rehearsals. Students should make sure they have taken care of their obligations before June 3, 2020. ● BIRTH CERTIFICATE NAME WILL BE CALLED The name that is called at graduation will be the name that is on the student’s birth certificate. If a student wishes to be called by another name, the student must show proof of legally changing the birth certificate name before diplomas go to print. Deadline for changing name on diploma is January 17, 2020. SENIOR AWARDS CEREMONY and SENIOR FAMILY PICNIC The Senior Awards Ceremony and the Senior Family Picnic will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. The Awards ceremony will take place in the Theatre at 6:00 pm. The Valedictorian and Salutatorian will be announced at this ceremony. Counselors will be collecting college acceptance letters and scholarship offers to include in the Awards Ceremony program. Please turn in hard copies of all acceptances and scholarships to Guidance no later than 3:00 pm on April 17, 2020. The Senior Family Picnic will follow the Awards Ceremony at 7:00 pm in SOA’s cafeteria. Immediate family members only please! This event will be catered and each student must reserve space for family members by April 3, 2020. OTHER STUFF Other things to be scheduled are Senior Class Picture, Cap & Gown Order Days, Cap & Gown Delivery Days, and many more. We will let you know via email, the Instagram group, and by hard copies given to students at meetings when we have new information- or to simply remind you of things already posted. There’s a lot to come this year and I will keep you updated with changes. I hope that you and your senior have fun and enjoy your last minutes at SOA.
