   Today’s Message:

One word I didn’t know:

  How many times did
 Pastor Michael say the
   word “sovereign/
     sovereignty”?
Today is Epiphany Sunday– the day when the church remembers the
visit of the Magi who first worshipped him as King. The church still
gathers today to do the same. May you be blessed by his Holy Spirit
as you worship the Christ today!

This morning Pastor Michael begins a series on the life of Joseph entitled,
“God Intended It For Good: Finding Jesus in the Life of Joseph”. We will
start with the backstory of Joseph’s family, his birth, and his early years
using Genesis 29:31-30:24.

This morning we also have the privilege of ordaining and installing our
new elders and deacons. Those being ordained to the office of deacon are:
Bernie Boldt, Jayne Kiel, and Dale Stobb; and to the office of elder are:
Duane Droogsma, Tom Kiel, and Phil Vedders. Please pray for them and
all those who are continuing their terms of service on the Council.

We would like to thank Char De Kraker for her service as the facilitator of
the red shepherding group for the past year. Char has made the decision to
step down from her role. Consequently, we are looking for someone to take
her place, as well as a replacement for Shirley Geurkink. If you are
interested in more information on what it takes to be a shepherding
facilitator, please see Carrie in the office.

Sunday School, Catechism, Trudy’s Faith Formation class, and Pastor
Michael’s sermon discussion class all resume today following the worship
service. Thank you to all our teachers and leaders for your commitment to
teaching and to all our students for your commitment to learning!

Sunday Night Live is back tonight at 4:00! Kids’ Club, Cadets and GEMS
will all be ready to go! Pastor Michael’s Bible Basics Class will also be
continuing as we take up the Major and Minor Prophets. Everyone is
welcome!
Our Church Family
We wish a very happy birthday to:
• Jean Droogsma, who celebrates 95 years on Monday, January 10.
• Connie Geurkink, who celebrates 81 years on Wednesday, January 12.

We express our sympathy and support to the family and loved ones of
Warren Geurkink as he was laid to rest yesterday. Please continue to keep
Connie and the rest of his family in your prayers.

Please pray for the Administrative Team as they meet tomorrow night.

“Thank you so much for all of the kind words and well-wishes on our move to
Michigan. We were so blessed by everyone attending the coffee held in our
honor on December 19. Thank you too for the helping hands in packing and
loading the moving truck. We couldn’t have done it without you! Thanks too for
all of the food and goodies brought to our house over the last couple of weeks,
it was so appreciated. May God continue to bless each of you as you have been
such a blessing to us! We will miss you deeply! Health Update: Joanne will be
starting oral chemo treatments for her bone cancer soon. We are thankful to
have gotten in to see doctors and make arrangements so quickly! God is good!
Blessings to you all! Jim and Joanne Vedders”

to bless you in the coming year.” ~Eleanor Veurink
