What is the problem? Malnutrition rates are still very high: children under five, women of reproductive age especially pregnant and lactating women and adolescent girls are the most affected by under-nutrition due to their physiological needs for growth and reproduction. Over the past 5 years the National Child Helpline contact centre has received cases on mother-child nutrition with little capacity to respond and meet those callers’ needs. Call We need to work together to ensure that the poorest and most marginalized households are targeted with messages and promotion of infant and young child feeding and care practices.
Key stats… Stunted children come from 10 Women with children under five regions. All three forms of 31% years of age do not use iron-folic acid supplementation during 58% under nutrition are higher among children from the poorest pregnancy for past birth. quintile and higher among boys than girls.
