INTRODUCTION FROM THE CHAIR The Work Avenue Foundation helps people to earn a living with dignity, whether through finding employment or assisting businesses. Over the past fifteen years, Work Avenue has reduced poverty, hardship and mental illness, enabling tens of thousands of people to regain their pride and confidence. Work Avenue is the leading organisation within the Jewish Community to help people become self- sufficient. Our current CEO, Debbie Sheldon, is moving to Israel and we are seeking a dependable and inspirational leader who will build on her success and seize the opportunity to take Work Avenue to the next level, ensuring we can assist everyone, at any life stage, throughout the UK. This appointment is timely, particularly in the current climate, where both employment and business support are so critical. We have recently launched pioneering programs to address this, however, there is so much more we can accomplish beyond this. The opportunity to develop Work Avenue’s micro economy to the extent that it can become self-generating in terms of its employment, business support and overall funding is very exciting. We welcome innovation and are seeking to employ a visionary and charismatic CEO who has the passion and relevant expertise, confidence and drive to achieve further synergies and leverage off our existing platform, scaling up the organisation without compromising on the quality and individualism of our services. Work Avenue is strategically and financially sound. The team are highly professional and dedicated, all well respected in their fields of expertise and in the Jewish Community. It is essential to increase its standing and broaden its reach within the wider business world. Working closely with myself and my co-trustees, the CEO will take full responsibility for the overall management and development of Work Avenue. Within this information pack you will learn more about Work Avenue, our aspirations and the candidate we are seeking. We look forward to hearing from you, Mark Morris Chair of Trustees 1 Appointment brief | March 2021 Appointment brief | March 2021 2
