AUGUST 2021 CHAMBER CENTRAL A PUBLICATION OF THE WESTMORELAND COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE In August of 2020 we regrettably announced to the membership that Chad Amond, President and CEO of the Westmoreland County Cham- ber, was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). PPA is a neurological syndrome in which language capabilities become slowly and progressively impaired. Unlike other forms of aphasia that result from stroke or brain injury, PPA is caused by neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's Disease or Fron- totemporal Lobar Degeneration. People with PPA may eventually lose all speech and may not be able to understand written or spoken language. Chad and his family continue to have the full support of the Chamber Staff and Board of Directors as he continues his leadership role with the Chamber while working through the challenges of this difficult diagnosis. In order to fully support Chad while also ad- vancing the mission and objectives of the or- ganization, the Westmoreland County Cham- ber is pleased to announce that the role of Executive Director has been added to the Chamber team. The Executive Director will assist, while work- ing under Chad, to ensure current events, committees and the organization’s platform will continue to align within the association's strategic plan, which is to “lead and cultivate a comprehensive regional network to address Chad Amond (left), President & the opportunities and challenges of greatest CEO, welcomes Dan DeBone, importance to the business community.” Executive Director The Westmoreland County Chamber of Com- merce is excited and pleased to obtain a candi- date, Dan DeBone, who is dedicated to ad- vancing the Chamber’s objectives, while demonstrating a comprehensive and high level of compassion to effectively work alongside Chad and the Board, now and in the future. Chair of the Board Christina Jansure con- firmed, “We are excited to welcome Dan DeBone to the Westmoreland County Cham- ber, and are extremely impressed with his high level of experience that aligns with the executive director role and the Chamber’s mission.” See Executive ● Page 2

How To Remedy a Basement Leak with Interior French Drain Installation of an interior french drain relieves hydrostatic water pressure at the base of the foundation and under the basement floor. The french drain itself will eliminate water seepage under the footer, where the block touches the footer and it drains the water out of the foundation by applying weep holes to the block.
