Methodology Notes • A series of Methodology Notes for all Work Packages will be drafted before end of 3Q • Involvement of Lots 1-4 during drafting and implementation, based on synergies • Concrete plans to be developed at the basis of finalized Inception Reports from Lots 1-4
WP 1: Strategic Coordination, Coherence and Communication
WP 1: Strategic Coordination, Coherence Co-funded by the European Union and Communication • Activity 1.1: Strategic Coordination and Coherence – Organize CEWP High-Level Dialogue – Organize CEWP Joint Steering Committee – Organize exchange between CEWP and international organizations, other Chinese Ministries and other EU initiatives active in water issues in China – Develop CEWP Work Programme 2018-2021 • Activity 1.2: Technical Support to the CEWP EU Secretariat – Support to coordination of the preparations of Joint Steering Committee meetings – Support to coordination of the preparations of High-Level meetings – Dissemination of information about CEWP activities – Develop and maintain CEWP websites; Represent CEWP at Social media; Communicate CEWP activities, via website and newsletter • Activity 1.3: CEWP PI Co-ordination – Develop and harmonize proper steering of PI – Facilitate sharing of key analysis and documents for internal capacity building – Synthesize results from other WPs of the Horizontal Activity, from the Vertical Lots and other relevant sources of information – Prepare Kick off and Mid Term Workshops for all PI programs

WP 3.1 SDG Water Promotion Strategic Long Term Objectives • EU and China as examples in comprehensive and immediate implementation of SDG 6 • EU and China acting jointly to achieve SGD 6 globally – Agree how to jointly promote SDG in international processes (FAO, UNECE, HLPF, Water Architecture, …) Process (tbc) 1. Baseline Study; situation in EU and China 2. 2 Workshop in the first half of 2019; medium level representation 3. Panel discussion & Declaration in CEWP Annual meeting 2019 4. WP 3.2 - Source to Sea (S2S) • S2S is a Governance approach • Understanding the interdependency: Upstream (Source) to downstream (Sea) • System thinking and coordination across sectors and geographic segments
WP 3.2 - Source to Sea (S2S) • Objective of WP 3.2: Explore challenges, opportunities and potential actions for application of Source to Sea concept in China • Main activities of WP 3.2 (2018 and 2019): 2 studies, 2 workshops and 1 MoU
WP 3.2 - Source to Sea (S2S) 1. A desk study to map out the current approach and structure of the water and marine governance in China and EU from a Source to Sea perspective. (ToR ready and experts identified) 2. A desk study to identify opportunities, challenges and potential actions for achieving a more integrated governance approach based on the Source to Sea concept (ToR ready and experts identified) 3. A workshop in Beijing in November 2018: Integrated management of water and marine environment in China and EU – from a Source to Sea perspective (Preparation ongoing) 4. A workshop in 2019 (details tbc) 5. A MoU signed with a Chinese organization with mandate and expertise in integrated management of water and marine environment (process not started yet)
WP 3.3 – Circular Economy • Development of a Green Paper outlining the Water Systems and providing an introduction to, how we are dealing with the topic overall • Development of White Papers on the topics above (Scope of Lots), ready in due time before an Access Program where the topic will be adressed • Key note speech on the outcome of the White Paper: how does this act as a game changer for the market • Taking an active part in the organization of the Access Program for the priority topics, including contributing to identifying Challenge Owners
WP 3.4 – Emerging Issues • An opportunity to include new issues in the PI Project • A call has been launched for new issues to be taken into account • Climate Change (Italy), Digitalization (Estonia)
