Causeway U3A www.causewayu3a.co.uk CU3A Administration Committee has considered two aspects of our administration which concern some members and we are making the following recommendations for this year only:- In a normal year our membership fee renewals are accepted without penalty until 1st June. After that there is a £5 levy. This year we will be more flexible and permit fee payment without the levy up to 1st September or 2 weeks after the end of lockdown, whichever is later. If activities have resumed, then membership payment is required to join them. Last year we asked Group Leaders to try to clear all surpluses by 31stJuly so that we could start the new year with zero balances in group accounts. It will not be possible to implement this in 2020 as many activities have had a reduced number of sessions due to the lockdown and will therefore have to carry fees over into the Autumn, to be used for credits for room venues and other uses the group had intended. ******************** National U3A The national U3A produces a newsletter which has many ideas for ways to keep in touch with each other, and suggestions for activities. It is easy to sign up to receive it via email: Sign up for newsletter ******************** Volunteers For Covid-19 Research UCL (University College London) has asked U3A members if they want to take part in a Social Study on Covid-19. The U3A Research committee have approved this panel study which looks at the psychological and social experiences of adults in the UK during the outbreak. UCL survey For more information on the study and details of the first week results can be found on our website: information and results The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine has also requested your support in a piece of scientific research into the COVID-19 outbreak. As part of our research we have developed a simple online survey Survey which takes around 15-20 minutes to complete. Researchers are interested in learning about how people find information about COVID-19 and what they think about this information. They want to know about the effects that the outbreak is having on people’s physical/mental health and about how they are coping in these difficult times.
