On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. -Matthew 2:11 _________________________________________________________ This Christmas and during the days to come, millions of people, both children and adults, will open millions of gifts. Some won’t fit. Some will be the wrong color. Many will be returned or exchanged. But there is one gift that meets everyone’s need, one gift that will never wear out, never break, or need repairing. There is one gift that is appropriate for a small child, or a teenager, or an adult, or a senior adult, boy or girl, man or woman, it makes no difference. The gift we all need, the most valuable gift of all, is, you’ve guessed it, Jesus, born as a babe in a manger. The reason for the season is Christ, and the reason Jesus died on the cross is for you. And we are not worthy of his Lordship unless we are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice and give your life to Christ. Knowing Christ is worth more than anything else in this world, in fact, knowing Christ is worth more than anything period. Jesus is that treasure, the gift that will never disappoint. Merry Christmas to All! ⎯Pastor Ivy

JANUARY 2021 -HAPPY NEW YEAR _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ NOT EVERYTHING CHANGES I want to welcome you to 2021! I don’t know a better way to begin the new year than by remembering God’s blessings! As there are many ways to celebrate the transition, (clubs, church services, home parties) just surviving (whew!) another year, warrants salute. So, however you celebrate, I pray that you do more than wish for a new year. I pray that you work, plan, design, pray for a new year with purpose. Oh, it is true that everything must change, as January 1 reminds us repeatedly. We cannot escape the change time brings. Yet, somehow we find in the Old Testament book of Psalms, the writer David profoundly contradicts the principle of change. He exclaims that “God is the same yesterday, today and forever!” I don’t know about you but God being a constant, God being persistent, God being perpetual is the greatest gift ever given! It makes the lyrics of the old-time hymn “Down Through the Years” so meaningful. Down through the years, God’s been good to me Down through the years, God’s been good to me Down through the years, God’s been good to me God’s really been good, to me All of my life, God’s been good to me, All of my life, God’s been good to me, All of my life, God’s been good to me, God’s really been good, to me. As we receive this gift of another year, let us be willing and open to make adjustment for growth in this year ahead. We all, in or out of the church, must review, assess and stop at the end of the year and measure our progress. However painful or celebratory this is, we cannot escape it. So, as we lift up one another in remembrance and prayer, our steadfast confidence emanates from the non- changing constant that God’s presence is eternal, and God will never leave us or forsake us. Happy New Year! ─Pastor Ivy
