This raffle is an important and helpful fundraising resource for entrants and tickets and funds must be handled with great care and appreciation. All tickets, sold and unsold must be accounted for and returned along with the total amount of money correlating with what has been sold. Raffle runs through until the 31st May Central Australian RBR base Some more exciting news on the RBR front. Early in 2019 Jamie and Michelle (Road Boss’s) are going to shift their main base camp for a couple years and station themselves in Alice Springs. While we are not selling and packing up everything we own, we are going to move out and live in Alice Springs for the next two years. There are a number of reasons for the relocation and among many of them is to better place ourselves for the 2020 Super that runs from the very south to the very north of Australia, straight up through the middle. Michelle is a school teacher and has taken up a full time position in Alice and Jamie will continue to do all his RBR work from there as well. We are also eager to get out into the beautiful red Australian desert sands and rugged ranges and do some exploring. So while there will be a bit of flying back and forth and traveling involved in the first part of 2019, from August onward we will be in the box seat to go head first in to the next big Road Boss adventure, the 2020 Super; Tassie to the Top End! 2018 RBR Participation Plates Each year we proudly produce a great looking number plate for each and every participate on the rally. It has all the event details and lists every town, community property and hamlet that you have travelled through. They are great looking memento that everyone proudly displays in many and varied places. The plates came in your crew’s kitbag that you collected at registration in Brisbane at the start of the rally. If for some reason you think you may not have got yours, please let us know. Before you do though, go to your rally car and check the red bag or ask the team member who collected all that for you. It is probably still there. We have a few 2018 plates still available, so if you did not receive yours or would like another, please let us know. If you want an extra plate, they are $10 each including postage. RBG Page 2
RBR’n all over the World While the Road Boss Rally might travel the length and breadth of Australia, our colourful mob spread much further and wider right across the globe. We love to see and receive cool pics from amazing places or with famous faces from here, there and everywhere. This year we had people proudly showing off our RBR gear in Africa, on Route 66, Sardinia, across the ditch in New Zealand and way up north in Alaska. We’ve been everywhere man! Keep the fun and spirit alive in 2019 and when you are packing and prepping for a big and exciting adventure, be sure to throw in your RBR clobber and get some pics in cool places or with famous faces. RBR World wide Christmas party This year we are going to have a gigantic worldwide RBR Simultaneous Christmas party. Where ever you may be this year on the 25th December, be sure to take your favourite RBR shirt/hat, grab a great photo and share it with us from where ever you may be. Load it up your Facebook or Instagram page and be sure to tag Road Boss Rally. So while we can’t all be together in the one spot this year, we can still share in united fun in true RBR style. #rbrxmas #roadbossrally RBG Page 3
GIVIT frontline Things have been super hot and extremely busy on the GIVIT frontline and we are very proud to see that the RBR community have been right along side them every step of the way. From raging bush fires in Queensland, delivering thousands of toys to children living in care over Christmas to supporting families and communities living through one of the toughest droughts in Australia’s recorded history. Whatever the challenge, no matter how difficult the request, our RBR army have been there to call upon to back GIVIT up and get the job done. It is quite interesting and humbling that quite often we are either the very first or very last phone call GIVIT make. They either know straight up we are in a position to help, or it can mean they have explored every avenue and hit a brick wall. When things get too hard and it looks like it can’t be done, that’s when the RBR comes alive. “Anyone can do easy”. Right now as I type and prepare this newsletter we are busily coordinating the purchase, preparation, transportation and donation of a school house building to a family in a remote part of New South Wales. It is extraordinary to look back over the last few years and see what we have all achieved together and how we have been able to help keep GIVIT charging along helping thousands of vulnerable people right across Australia. Well done everyone, you should be very, very proud.
