Biltmore Equestrian Center Working Equitation Show October 16-17, 2021 Asheville, NC Children's division and Level 1, Intro will have two (2) one-day shows so you’ll have the opportunity for double points over the weekend. Please be sure to fill out the appropriate entry blank for each day you wish to compete. Levels 2-5 will follow a two-day format with the Dressage Trial on Day 1 and EOH and Speed Trials on Day 2. If entries warrant, Children, Youth, Adult Amateur, Young Horse, and Gaited Horses may be pinned as separate classes. Otherwise, all classes will be run as Open classes. Entries close October 12, 2021. Check in for the show will begin at 12:00pm on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Event Tent (see map). There will be a competitors’ reception at 6:00pm in the Event Tent. The first ride will go at 8:00am Saturday, October 16, 2021. Entry into the show includes grounds admission to Biltmore Equestrian Center only. We highly encourage you to make the most of your trip and enjoy Biltmore House and all the estate has to offer. Discounted Biltmore House admission tickets may be purchased through the BEC office for $53.50. For more information about the estate, please visit Biltmore's website. Both our indoor and outdoor arenas have top of the line footing of silica sand with recycled textile fibers mixed in. The show will be held in our outdoor arena baring inclement weather. We may have the Dressage Trials go on our turf court. Warm up areas will also be turf. Important Information The WE Rules governing this show are the United States Rules for Working Equitation, Revision 4, dated 1 December 2020. The Rulebook, including dressage tests and obstacle descriptions, may be found on the USAWE website. It is important that all competitors read the rules before competing. If you have any questions regarding the rules or any requirements not found in this Prize List, please contact the Show Manager. All competitors holding an individual membership with USAWE may compete. Non-members are allowed to compete for a $20 non-member fee. Only member scores are tracked in the USAWE awards program. USAWE membership forms can be found here. ALL COMPETING HORSES MUST BE RECORDED WITH USAWE IN ADVANCE OF THE SHOW. Link to record your horse can be found here. A single horse and rider team is allowed to show in only one level. See Rulebook, section 1.7 for details. Classes may be ridden individually. It is not required to enter all phases applicable to that level. Championship prizes will only be awarded to those entering all applicable phases. All major credit cards accepted. No refunds after closing date. Refunds will be granted at the sole discretion of BEC. • Checks returned for insufficient funds will incur a $25 fee by BEC for each occurrence. • No entry may show unless it is paid in full. Entry Procedures • Entry form is included as attachment to this Prize List and can also be found on the BEC website. • An entry form is not valid unless it is fully completed and has all the proper signatures, membership numbers, and horse information. Each entry form must have signatures of Riders/ Handlers and Owner/Agent. An adult must sign for any junior rider. Entries must be accompanied by signed liability forms. • Mail or email entry forms and fees to the Show Secretary. Entries must be postmarked by the closing date; entries postmarked after the closing date will be assessed a $50 late entry fee and possibly placed on a waiting list. • No phone entries will be accepted. Entries are accepted on a first-paid, first-served basis. • USAWE uses the same qualifications for Amateur Riders as the USEF (GR 1306). • Child exhibitors must be between 8-13 at any time during the current year. Child exhibitors must indicate their date of birth on the entry form. • Photocopy of negative Coggins test, dated within one year of the end of the show required. Coggins may be submitted after entry, but must be in the hands of the Show Secretary prior to your arrival at BEC. • If entries warrant, Children, Youth, Adult Amateur, Young Horse, and Gaited Horses may be pinned as separate classes. Otherwise, all classes will be run as Open classes.
Prizes/Awards • Rosettes awarded from 1st thru 6th place in each class. • Championship and Reserve Championship rosettes will be awarded to the overall first and second place rider/horse teams in each level/division at each individual show (must show in all phases of the level/division to qualify). General Information • Arrival: Friday, October 15, 2021 after 12:00 p.m. • Departure: Monday, October 18, 2021 by 8:00 a.m. • Early arrivals/late departures must be coordinated with the BEC office and will incur additional Biltmore admission fees. • Emergency contact information must be prominently displayed on all stalls. BEC will provide stall tag with rider’s name and the phone number provided on the entry form. • Do not use stalls you have not paid for. • BEC reserves the right to refuse an entry for any reason. • Biltmore Equestrian Center, Biltmore Equestrian Activities, LLC, and The Biltmore Company reserve the right to maintain a Harassment Free Environment and may remove or refuse entry to any person(s) disrupting the show. • Dogs must be humanely restrained, in a closed stall, or on a leash at all times while on the show grounds or in the stable area. No Dogs allowed in arenas, round pens, or warm up areas. • No smoking is allowed in the barn areas or in any of the other buildings. Hotel Accommodations • Biltmore has two lodging options on property, both approximately 3 miles from BEC. The Inn on Biltmore Estate is a 4-Star, 4-Diamond luxury facility offering the finest of accommodations. The Village Hotel on Biltmore Estate offers more casual accommodations and may offer special rates for BEC guests (dependent on availability) by calling 866-779-6277. Stabling • See map for stabling locations. The Event Barn is the closest stabling accommodation to the outdoor arena. The Guest Barn is approximately ¾ of a mile from the outdoor arena; much of the distance can be covered on a private trail. Paddocks and Pens are approximately 2/3 of a mile from the outdoor arena and can be accessed via the same trail as the Guest Barn. Camping for competitors will be allowed at either the Camp Field, close to the Guest Barn, Paddocks, and Pens or at the Event Complex, close to the Event Barn and outdoor arena. Stabling sold on a first paid, first served basis. Reservations should be made via email or over the phone with the BEC office.

This document waives important legal rights. Read it carefully before signing. RELEASE: I understand that this is a high-risk sport and I am participating at my own risk. I hereby assume this risk and further do hereby release and hold harmless the organizer (Licensee), organizing committee, competition management, judges and officials; USA Working Equitation (USAWE), its officers, agents, employees and volunteers; the host of this event or competition; and the owners of any property on which the event or competition is being held, from all liability for negligence resulting in accidents, damage, injury, or illness to myself and to my property, including the horse or horses that I will compete at this event or competition. ENTRY AGREEMENT: By entering a USAWE-licensed competition and signing this entry form as the Owner, Rider, or Parent/Guardian, I agree that I am subject to and agree to be bound by the Bylaws of USAWE applicable to the USAWE-licensed competition, the U.S. Rules for Working Equitation (“Rules”), and the requirements of the competition as stated in the Prize List. I will accept as final the decision of the Protests Committee or Appeals Committee on any question arising under the Rules and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, USAWE, their officials, directors, and employees for any action taken under the Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the Rules and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize amateur status. In consideration for my participation in this Competition, I AGREE to the following: o I AGREE that USAWE and the Competition as used herein include the Licensee and competition management, as well as all of their officials, officers, directors, employees, agents, personnel, volunteers, and USAWE affiliates. o I AGREE that I choose to participate voluntarily in the Competition with my horse as a rider, owner, or parent/guardian of a junior exhibitor. I am fully aware and acknowledge that horse sports and the Competition involve inherent dangerous risks of accident, loss, and serious bodily injury including broken bones, head injuries, trauma, pain, suffering, or death (“Harm”). o I AGREE to hold harmless and release USAWE and the Competition from all claims for money damages or otherwise for any Harm to me or my horse and for any Harm of any nature caused by me or my horse to others, even if the Harm arises or results, directly or indirectly, from the negligence of USAWE or the Competition. o I AGREE to expressly assume all risks of Harm to me or my horse, including Harm resulting from the negligence of USAWE or the Competition. o I AGREE to indemnify USAWE and the Competition and to hold them harmless with respect to claims for Harm to me or my horse, and for claims made by others for any Harm caused by me or my horse while at the Competition I have read the Rules about protective equipment (section 1.9.1.k) and I understand that I am entitled to wear protective equipment without penalty. I acknowledge that USAWE strongly encourages me to do so while warning that no protective equipment can guard against all injuries. I represent that I have the requisite training, coaching, and abilities to safely compete in this competition. If I am a parent or guardian of a junior exhibitor, I consent to the child’s participation, AGREE to all of the above provisions, and AGREE to assume all of the obligations of this Release on the child’s behalf. I understand and AGREE that all competitors under the age of 18 must wear an ASTM/SEI-approved safety helmet. o I AGREE that if I am injured at this Competition, the medical personnel treating my injuries may provide information on my injury and treatment to USAWE and competition management. The undersigned acknowledges that there are certain risks inherent in participation in equine activities including (i) the propensity of an equine to behave in dangerous ways that may result in injury to the participant: (ii) the inability to predict an equine’s reaction to sound, movements, objects, persons, or animals: (iii) the possibility of equipment failure and (iv) hazards of surface or subsurface conditions, and notwithstanding these risks, the undersigned desires to engage in or observe equine activities at Biltmore and assumes any risk of loss or injury arising from such activity, even loss or injury resulting from the negligence of Biltmore other than gross negligence or wanton or willful misconduct.
