ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW CAT CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 SCHEDULE The Royal Melbourne Show Cat Championship is conducted under the auspices of The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), in conjunction with The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy Australia & Victoria Inc. (GCCFV) ), a member body of the Australian Cat Federation. The Royal Melbourne Show Cat Championship is open to all members of The Australian Cat Federation (ACF) and Co-ordinating Cat Council of Australia affiliates, and The Australian National Cats Inc. ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW CAT CHAMPIONSHIP MEET THE JUDGES Douglas Myers - Cat Fanciers Association Originally from North Carolina, Douglas is an All Breed judge with long-standing experience within the Cat Fancy. Douglas has contributed extensively on a volunteer-basis to the United States Cat Fancier Association. Douglas is the former President of Phoenix Feline Fanciers, and co-founder of The Crafty Cat Club, North Carolina Douglas began judging in 1993 and obtained All Breed status with the Cat Fancier Association in 1998. He has judged competitions all over the United States and the world. Douglas presently lives in Thailand. Nick Tricarico - Queensland Feline Association Nick is an All Breed judge with the Queensland Feline Association, which is currently affiliated with the Australian Cat Federation. Nick began judging in 1999 and obtained All Breed status in 2008. Nick has experience in the Cat Fancy across Australia and New Zealand, having judged in the Coordinating Cat Council of Australia (CCCA) National Shows in Brisbane in 2004 and in Melbourne in 2007, the World Cat Congress Show in Melbourne in 2010, and the New Zealand National Show in 2008. Lesley Morgan - Cat Association of Tasmania Throughout her career, Lesley has held various positions in the Cat Fancy including head tutor judge, Tasmania; all positions but Treasurer with the Cat Association of Tasmania; and Acting President of The Australian Cat Federation (ACF). Lesley has also managed multiple shows for the ACF. Lesley has undertaken judging assignments in Australia and around the world, including in Asia, Europe and the United States.
ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW CAT CHAMPIONSHIP Ian Rivett – The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy Victoria & Australia Ian is an All Breed judge, and experienced Siamese breeder. Ian stumbled into the Cat Fancy almost forty years ago through breeding a couple of Cats of the Year and Best in Show winners. Since becoming an All Breed judge, Ian has judged numerous competitions across Australia and in New Zealand. Meryle Frame – Feline Control Council of Victoria Meryl became a Co-ordinating Cat Council of Australia group 2 judge in 1993, group 1 in 2004 and group 3 in 2016 and is now a Feline Control Council of Victoria All Breed judge. Meryl has judged in most states of Australia and overseas in New Zealand, and has been involved with running many shows. Meryle was founding President of the Sunshine Cat Club and has also served on a number of committees of several clubs.

GCCFV SHOW RULES (Abbreviated) Updated Dec 2016 GROUPING OF BREEDS All Cats & Kittens over 5 months old, including Companion Pets, must Exhibits are judged according to ACF breed standard and divided into 4 be individually registered with a recognised Control Body before the closing date for entries. (With exception of Companion cats on groups, which are: 2–show trial.) Group 1: Aphrodite (LH & SH), Birman, Exotic, Maine Coon, Norwegian All Kittens must be litter-registered and be at least 12 WEEKS old on Forest Cat, Persian, Ragdoll, Siberian & Turkish Van. the day of the show. Exhibitors must provide an F3 Vaccination Certificate for ALL Group 2: Balinese, Foreign White, Foreign White Longhair, Oriental, EXHIBITS. Kittens must have followed a recommended Oriental Longhair, Peterbald & Siamese. vaccination regime (first vaccination at least 10 days prior to the show) and all adults must have been vaccinated within the Group 3: Abyssinian, American Burmese, American Curl, American SH, previous 2 YEARS. The 1st adult vaccination must be given as Australian Mist, Bengal, Bombay, British SH, Burmese, Burmilla, (SH & closely as possible to 12 months after the final kitten LH), Cornish Rex, Cymric, Devon Rex, Egyptian Mau, Japanese Bobtail vaccination. (SH & LH),Korat, LaPerm (SH & LH,) Mandalay, Russian, Scottish (SH & All Companion Pets over 5 months old must be neutered LH), Scottish Fold (SH & LH), Selkirk Rex (SH & LH), Somali, Sphynx, Lactating Queens may not be shown. Tonkinese, Manx, Ocicat, Pixiebob, Singapura & Snowshoe Queens that are more than 4 weeks, or obviously, pregnant may not be shown. Group 4: Companion Pets – Longhair, Shorthair All exhibits must have their nails clipped, clean coats, clean ears, no fleas, and no stitches. MAIN CLASSES AND THEIR All exhibits must be inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon prior to CODES Group 1, 2 & 3 Adults entering the hall. Any exhibit showing signs of infectious or contagious disease or external parasites will be rejected. Title Female Male Any exhibit that is rejected by the Veterinary Surgeon for infectious or Untitled FO MO Champion FC MC contagious disease must be removed from the venue immediately, Grand Ch FGC MGC along with all other cats that have travelled to the show with it. The Double Grand Ch FDGC MDGC opinion of the Veterinary Surgeon is final. Entry fees will not be Silver Ch FSilverC MSilverC refunded. The exhibitor must obtain a veterinary clearance before Gold Ch FGoldC MGoldC attending any further shows. Opal Ch FOpalC MOpalC After veterinary inspection, each cat must be placed in the correct Sapphire Ch FSaphC MSaphC cage. Exhibits over the age of 9 months are not permitted to share a Emerald Ch FEmldC MEmldC cage until judging is completed, except at the discretion of the Show Ruby Ch FRubyC MRubyC Manager. The exhibitor must provide curtains & a cushion or mat. Diamond Ch FDiamC MDiamC These may be of any colour. Platinum Ch FPlatC MPlatC Litter trays, water bowls, toys & covered hot water bottles may be left Group 1, 2 & 3 Neuters in cages. Title Female Male An exhibit may be disqualified if either it or its owner is identified to Untitled FN MN the Judge before judging is finished. ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW CAT CHAMPIONSHIP ADDITIONAL EXHIBITOR INFORMATION Entry Submission • For each exhibit that is entered ONE free entry ticket is supplied. • For each exhibit that is entered please ensure that you have specified the exact colour, pattern and description of that cat/kitten and whether it is longhair or shorthair (e.g. Blue Spotted Tabby Scottish Longhair). • Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope so that passes & drop off/pickup information can be sent to you. Where this is not provided, nor postage paid for, an electronic entry pass will be sent to your email address as listed on your entry form. Note that the electronic entry passes are not transferable. • Non GCCFV registered exhibits must supply a copy of the exhibit’s certified pedigree for entry to be eligible. • No refund of entry fees will be made after the closing date of entries. • Payment of Fees: When paying fees by cheque exhibitors must ensure that sufficient funds are available at the time of entry. Failure to do so may result in non-acceptance of entries. • Title Upgrades must be submitted by Monday 8.00pm 24th September 2018. This must be emailed to the show manager: lkitson1992@gmail.com and an email receipt will be sent upon receipt of title upgrade. • No title upgrades will done on the day of the show. Arrival and Departure Times • Entry ticket can be used for drop off, if you have an exhibit in your vehicle. • Location: Enter via Gate 7 from Leonard Cres. • Time: drop off via Gate 7 from 6.30am; pick up after 5.00pm. • Parking: in Flemington Race Course or in the surrounding streets. • Vetting in: 7.00am to 8.30am • Judging commences: 9.00am • Departure: After 5pm. All exhibits must be on show for public viewing until 5pm. • Cats MUST be benched by 8.45am on each day of judging. Location of Exhibits Cats will be exhibited in the Nicholas Pavilion number 18 on the showground map. This venue is shared with the dog section & has an asphalt floor. Veterinary Inspection All cats must arrive by 8.30am on judging days for examination by the nominated veterinary surgeon. If approved, cats must be benched at once. No person, except the owner or his representatives, will be allowed in the benching area until after the cats have been examined and benched. Any cat which shows symptoms of any disease, is parasite infected and/or dirty, must be removed from the Showground immediately.
ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW CAT CHAMPIONSHIP If any exhibit is rejected on the grounds of infectious or contagious disease, then no other exhibits that have travelled with the rejected exhibit may be shown. The vet’s decision is final. Exhibitors Please Note Supreme Exhibits: A points system will determine the Supreme Exhibit & the Supreme Companion Exhibits. Each judge will decide their Best In Ring winner after they have finished judging all groups. These exhibits will be individually assessed and placed 1 to 5 by each of the judges. A points system (eg 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) will be used independently by each judge to place the exhibits 1 to 5. The cat which receives the highest number of points as allocated by all 5 judges will be determined as the winner of the Supreme in show.
