Welcome to Dynasty Cheer Allstars 5th Season, #THRIVEIN5. DYNASTY CHEER ALLSTARS “DCA” has been established to further develop the sport of cheerleading. We create a positive, safe, and communicative environment. Cheerleading is a sport that provides a wonderful opportunity to grow, not only as individual athletes, but also as teammates. DCA will strive to perfect cheerleading skills, develop physically and mentally strong athletes, and foster lifelong friendships. We are excited to be heading into the 2020- 2021 cheer season and excited for you to join the DCA family. As we enter season 5, training may look a little different than previous years. COVID-19 has changed the world and impacted many businesses, including sports programs. It is important for athletes of all ages to stay active and to be able to make friendships all while staying safe. We have adapted our training to include virtual, outdoor and inside the gym training. During this time, we have broken skills down and really worked on technique, strength, jumps and flexibility. This type of training will have athletes return for season 5 stronger than ever. Dynasty Cheer Allstars will be abiding by all AHS and government guidelines as we start practices and classes back in the gym. We take the safety of our athletes, families and staff very seriously. Our policies and procedures will continuously be updated due to COVID-19. We will continue to work with AHS, ACA, Cheer Canada and other organizations to stay up to date with our guidance plans for the sport we all love. DCA is and will continue to be a safe, fun environment for athletes to train. You can find our up to date COVID-19 policy on our website. The Novice Cheer Handbook provides lots of information regarding the 2020-2021 season at Dynasty Cheer Allstars. If you have any questions about our program after reading this handbook, please contact us, we will be happy to help you out. NOVICE TEAM FEES Dynasty Cheer Allstars understands that COVID-19 has affected the economy in Alberta and some families have suffered financially. We have taken steps to help reduce fees for the season to help bring an affordable season to our families. A few ways to help save costs is competing locally, saving on competition fees and travel expenses, doing more in-house choreography, reconstruction of music and more. Additional Information & Policies Attendance - All practices are mandatory as cheerleading is a team-based sport. The success and safety of each team requires athletes to be fully committed to their team. Repeated missed practices could lead to a change in your position of the routine. Any extra practices that are scheduled at least one week in advance are also mandatory and must be attended by all teammates. We will do our best to inform teams of any additional practices. Attendance is tracked for each practice. IMPORTANT: The two practices before competition are very important for coaches and athletes. These practices are always black out dates and mandatory for all athletes to attend. If an athlete misses one of the two practices before competitions, coaches have the right to pull the missing athlete from the upcoming competition or make any necessary routine changes. Attendance at Competitions - There are no excused absences from a competition. Every team member is important and is expected to attend every competition. Competition dates are given well in advanced for families to make note of weekends events take place. Any athlete that misses a competition may be removed from the next upcoming competition, or in some cases the program. In rare instances, some teams may be required to compete on a Friday afternoon/evening for Canadian and International Competitions which may require some missed school time. Absences: As this is a team-based sport, attendance is mandatory for all athletes. Please note the following. ❖ Illness – in the past we have asked athletes to attend practices if they were ill, even if to sit and watch. With COVID-19 we are changing this policy. If an athlete is ill, please keep them at home. If an athlete shows up to practice and is ill, they will be sent home. Please use your best judgment when it comes to illness for the safety and health of all our athletes, coaches and families. Athletes that are ill, we can provide them with a Zoom ID# so they are able to watch practices from home to keep up with routines. ❖ Vacations – please plan any vacations around the gym closure dates. If this is not possible, please fill out our absentee form and speak to your athlete’s coaches regarding vacation, providing as much notice as possible. Note an athlete positions in the routine could be changed due to missed practices for vacation. ❖ Injuries – if you occur an injury that prevents you from practicing, please provide a doctor’s note to your coach. Injured athletes are asked to still come watch practice to keep up with their routine and of any changes that might occur.
