Ascension Catholic Parish Sacrament of Confirmation February 11th, 2021 6:00 PM To all who join us to celebrate the Paschal Mystery and Holy Eucharist: Welcome!
INTRODUCTORY RITES Opening Song: Send Out Your Spirit Refrain O God, send out your Spirit; renew the face of the earth. O God, send out your Spirit; renew the face of the earth. 1. We bless you, O God, for you are so great. Your Spirit uncovers hidden beauty and grace. Though times we deny all the pain and the tears, your Spirit empowers us and soon we face our fear. 2. Ev’ry prayer we pray, sacred word, sacred rite, is for the ones who are left waiting outside. Ev’ry sermon we preach, ev’ry Spirit-filled tune; Love says, “Remember why we do the things we do.” 3. Ev’ry time a person reaching out is turned away by the racist prejudicial attitudes of hate, we are called to break the silence, sanctioning the shame, stepping cross the lines of this sometimes unholy game. Text based on Psalm 104. Text and music © 1996, 1999, Jesse Manibusan. Published by Spirit & Song®, a division of OCP. All rights reserved Greeting Penitential Act Response: Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Gloria—The Glendalough Mass Glory to God in the highest, glory to god in the highest, glory to God, glory to God, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise You, we bless You, we adore You, we glorify You, we give You thanks for Your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only-begotten Son. Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father. You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For You alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone, are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Glory to God in the highest, glory to god in the highest, glory to God, glory to God, and on earth peace to people of good will. Collect (opening prayer) 2

Invitation to Communion: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. Communion Songs: Holy Spirit, Come To Me & Spirit Fall (next page) The Holy Eucharist is the most important of the seven sacraments because, in this and in no other sacrament, we receive the very body and blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ. Innumerable precious graces come to us through the reception of Holy Communion. Catholics are called forward to receive communion. If you are non-Catholic, please know that you are welcome to come forward with arms crossed over the chest to receive a blessing. As you come forward to receive Holy Communion, please maintain social distancing. Holy Communion will be distributed by coming forward through the side aisles and returning to your seat through the center aisle. We will start first with the center pews, from front to back, then the pews closest to the windows, from back to front. Holy Communion will be brought to those who are unable to come forward at the end. You are not obligated to receive Holy Communion today at Mass. If you are uncomfortable to receive, you may pray the Act of Spiritual Communion. Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. Prayer After Communion 5
