Day 1 – Tuesday, 21 December, 2021: Auckland, New Zealand Auckland is situated astride a narrow, jade-green isthmus between the shimmering waters of the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean on the harbours Waitematā and Manukau. This vibrant city is a gateway to New Zealand’s natural and cultural treasures: great natural beauty, friendly people, magnificent glacier-studded mountain ranges, sculpted fjords, pristine beaches, lush rainforest, and an endless array of sporting activities and excellent museums. This afternoon you may board the Crystal Symphony, have a relaxing lunch, settle into your suite and get to know the ship. Enjoy your first dinner on board as the ship sails out of Auckland at sunset.
Day 2 – Wednesday, 22 December, 2021: Tauranga & Mt. Maunganui, New Zealand The spectacular Bay of Plenty on New Zealand’s North Island is home to the resort town of Tauranga. Known for its fine restaurants, boutiques and galleries, Tauranga is also a hot spot for water sports and a gateway to nearby attractions, such as the geothermal wonders of Rotorua. At the southern end of Tauranga’s harbour lies the relaxed beach town of Mount Maunganui, named after its distinctive peak Mauao that towers 750 feet above the town’s white-sand surf.
Day 3 – Thursday, 23 December, 2021: Day at Sea Cruising the East Coast of New Zealand One of the great features of Crystal Symphony is the dining options where you can choose from new modern cuisine and globally inspired menus such as the renowned culinary creations of Nobu Matsuhisa. As well, one of the pleasures of a day at sea is that you can spend much of your day strolling between marvelous dining venues and more casual cafes. Crystal Symphony also has a number of inviting and relaxing lounges where you can visit or even enjoy reading a book with a drink of your choice. . .
Day 4 – Friday, 24 December, 2021: Wellington, New Zealand Wellington hugs the hillsides around a horseshoe-shaped bay and reminds many visitors of San Francisco. With its street life, such as Cuba Street, and its cultural offerings of galleries and museums, its architecture, such as the Government Building, which is one of the world’s largest wooden structures and its landscape, including the Botanic Garden, Wellington has a lot to offer.
Day 5 – Saturday, 25 December, 2021: Day at Sea Cruising the East Coast of New Zealand A day at sea is great for doing nothing out doors, such as lying around the pool in the sun or shade and cooling off every now and then with a dip. If activity is what you want, you can partake in mat Pilates, yoga, PGA golf instruction and more . . . and even walking around the Promenade Deck or jogging on the track. Enjoy another relaxing day.
Day 6 – Sunday, 26 December, 2021: Akaroa, New Zealand The charming, French-inspired village of Akaroa sits on New Zealand’s South Island and is nestled in the heart of an ancient volcano along the southern side of the Banks Peninsula. Its beautiful bays and harbour are home to the rarest and smallest marine dolphin, the Hector’s dolphin, as well as fur seals, little blue penguins and an array of birds and exotic plants. From kayaking, hiking, fishing, sailing, and walking tours to art galleries, craft shops, and cafés, this welcoming town is a delight to experience.
Day 7 – Monday, 27 December, 2021: Dunedin, New Zealand The charismatic city of Dunedin lies in southeastern New Zealand at the head of Otago Harbour on the South Island. Its name means Edinburgh in Gaelic and to this day it has retained enduring reminders of its Scottish roots. Adorning the streets of Dunedin is a wealth of Victorian and Edwardian buildings richly festooned with spires, gables and gargoyles. The rolling hills, pristine beaches and secluded bays of the adjacent Otago Peninsula are home to albatrosses, sea lions and yellow-eyed penguins.
Day 8 – Tuesday, 28 December, 2021: Dusky, Doubtful and Milford Sounds, New Zealand New Zealand is famous for its fjords, especially those found in its World Heritage Fiordland National Park. In the 18th century, on his second expedition, British navigator James Cook spent several weeks exploring Dusky Sound. It’s one of the largest fjords here with a number of large islands as well as cascading waterfalls over its steep, forested cliffs. Dolphins, whales, seals and an array of penguins and seabirds are often sighted in this wonderland of nature. Doubtful Sound, also within Fiordland National Park, is a secluded waterway, is also known as the Sound of Silence. Long, winding and steeped in majestic serenity, Doubtful is the perfect setting for unforgettable scenic cruising. At nearly 1,400 feet deep, it is the deepest of the Fiordland’s channels. Several impressive waterfalls can be spotted here along with bottlenose dolphins, New Zealand fur seals and Fiordland crested penguins. Majestic peaks reaching toward the sky and white-plumed waterfalls cascading down forested cliffs into pristine waters make Milford Sound the undisputed jewel of Fiordland National Park. Not surprisingly, the Maori believed the sound was carved by a divine stonemason. Its spectacular beauty is complemented by an abundance of amazing wildlife including dolphins, seals and penguins.
Day 9 & 10 – Wednesday & Thursday 29 & 30 December, 2021: Day at Sea Cruising the Tasman Sea These two days at sea might be just what you want after two weeks of excursions. Perhaps it’s time to pamper yourself at the Fen Shui inspired Crystal Spa or, if the spirit moves you, to live in the gym for two days! Then again, perhaps it’s time to just casually walk the Promenade Deck, stop for a cool drink, read a book, watch a movie or just sit and watch the ocean go by.
Day 11 – Friday, 31 December, 2021: Sydney, Australia Early this morning you will arrive in Sydney Harbour and have a full day to explore the city and surrounding area. However, the major event for today will be the New Year’s Eve Sydney fireworks which are absolutely dynamic and incredible. Day 14 – Monday, 03 January, 2022: Eden, Australia Although named for the first Earl of Auckland, rather than the biblical garden, this Eden is a gorgeous natural wonderland. Situated on New South Wales’ Sapphire Coast, this picturesque Australian town is a gateway to stunning beaches, forested hills, lakes, nature trails, Ben Boyd National Park, and more, such as the Killer Whale Museum. The sparkling waters of Eden’s Twofold Bay are known as the Humpback Highway owing to the large number of whales that pass through during their migration between Antarctica and the Coral Sea.
