Art Escapes 2022 Visual Arts - Mixed Media The Secret Life of Birds Birds are the most common form of wildlife children encounter in their daily lives, from seeing and hearing them outside their home and outside on the playground. Children learn best authentically, by making and manipulating materials. The first Art lesson will begin with a basic understanding of bird attributes and then create a two dimensional bird with painted paper and collage. The next lesson will focus on the three-dimensional by making nests and eggs, then in the third lesson, students will put all their skills together and use clay to sculpt a bird with eggs in a nest. In the fourth lesson, students will paint their fired clay birds. Using poetry as inspiration, students will write a poem about their bird. Art Escapes 2022 Performing Arts: Residency STORYTELLING RESIDENCY Amazing things happen when students are allowed to perform stories together! Storyteller Jenifer Strauss will carefully select 1-2 interactive stories that align well with your curriculum to conduct a six-week Storytelling Residency with your students.
