The Red House Racehorse Syndicate Lloyd Turner, owner of The Red House since 2009 and general manager Jon Swann have been talking to renowned local Racehorse Trainer Charlie Hills (a regular at the pub) about the potential for a Red House Pub Racehorse for some time. Charlie recently called Lloyd to say that he had a very nice colt that might fit the bill. Lloyd visited Charlie’s yard and was immediately impressed by the young horse, noting the similarity between him and his father, Galileo Gold, who Hugo Palmer trained for Al Shaqab. Galileo Gold won the Vintage Stakes (Gr 2) at Glorious Goodwood and as a three year old he won the 2000 Guineas (Gr 1) and the St James’s Palace Stakes (Gr 1). The two year old colt filled the brief perfectly. His name has now been registered as Marsh Benham - locals at The Red House need no explanation – and he is an absolute stunner. Charlie couldn’t be happier with his progress to date. All being well, Charlie hopes to have Marsh Benham (MB to his friends!) ready to make his debut towards the middle of May, like his father did before him; Galileo Gold finished second at York on his debut before winning his next 3 races. Here’s hoping that MB can do the same! This is an opportunity for you to be part of Marsh Benham’s success story ! Race Dates Marsh Benham will be running as early as May and June (details to follow) and is also entered in the following sales races: 19th August 2021 The Goffs UK Premier Yearling Stakes at York 9th September 2021 The Weatherbys Scientific £200,000 2yo Stakes at Doncaster Watch videos of Marsh Benham at www.theredhousepub.com/syndicate
Charles Hills As part of the Hills dynasty created by his father Barry, Charlie has spent his entire life immersed in horse racing. Less than two years after taking the helm at Faringdon Place, Charlie trained his first classic winner when Just The Judge won the Irish 1,000 Guineas. She was swiftly followed by European Champion two year old filly and Breeders Cup winner Chriselliam. As well as the domestic Group 1’s Charlie has won Group 1 races in the USA, Canada Ireland and France – making his a truly international stable. Benefits of Syndicate 2021 will be Charlie’s 10th Season Membership with a Licence – the first nine having produced 65 stakes race victories; The motivation and focus of The Red House 13 at Group 1, 3 European Syndicate is to gather a group of like-minded Champions, 2 Classic successes and pub folk to share the ups and downs, fun, a Breeders’ Cup Winner.
