AMHS Bulletin December 9th, 2022 Greetings AMHS Families, What an action packed week. On Monday, our grade 11s went to the Raptors 905 game. Although the Raptors 905 team lost, our students won as they saw Fred Van Vleet and Pascal Siakam in the stands. On Wednesday, Thursday and (today), our school put on amazing performances for our play - Shrek the Musical! A big thank you goes out to all of the staff and students involved in the amazing production! Students, families and community members have all stated how impressed they are by our students and the play that was showcased at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.
Important Upcoming Dates Dec 14th - Distillery Winter Market - grade 10 field trip Dec 23rd - last day of school before winter break Jan 9th - first day of school back from winter break Jan 18th and 19th - EQAO Math Assessment EQAO Math Assessment The EQAO Grade 9 Math Assessment is scheduled to take place on January 18 and 19, 2023. Grade 9 students currently taking the de-streamed Math course will be writing the assessment in
person, at school, during the two days. Grade 9 math teachers are working hard with students to prepare for the assessment. All the best to the grade 9 students writing the test. Protests in Iran The series: YRDSB in Collaboration with FSYR (Family Services of York Region): Mental Health Event for Families and Youth in Light of the Protests in Iran : An event to “Acknowledge - Bridge - and Connect” During Global Protests The events are open to Iranian parents, caregivers, and families acknowledging that we all may have different experiences in relation to the protest in Iran. At the events, Iranian families will hear about common reactions to stress and trauma as well as potential ways to cope and support their mental health and their child using the ABCs (i.e., Acknowledge, Bridge, Connection) of Mental Health. Youth will hear about common reactions to stress and trauma as well as potential ways to cope and support their mental health using the ABCs of Mental Health. Each event will end with a brief panel discussion responding to pre- submitted participant questions. If your child is applying to any post-secondary institutions, it is advised that they begin the process as early as possible in order to have sufficient amount of time to connect with Guidance and ask questions regarding their application process. The deadline for OCAS is February 1st, 2023 The deadline for OUAC is January 12th, 2023 Please encourage your child who is graduating in June 2023 to stay connected with Guidance regarding various information by being a member of the following Google classroom.
