Salinas VISTA Team assembles 200 Día del Niño gifts and inflates 200 soccer balls for kids in the Alisal and warming shelter COMMUNITY SERVICES Community Engagement This past Earth Day, City staff and 56 volunteers spent 3 days April 22nd through April 24th beautifying two of our local parks, Natividad Creek and Cesar Chavez Park. The volunteers pictured above are students in CSUMB's Physician Assistant program and were among the many volunteers helping to clean up Cesar Chavez Park. LIBRARY Preschool Kits Survey

City crews were hard at work this week with Alisal Road improvements. This week they focused on grading and paving. POLICE SERVICES Salinas PD Welcomes Students Back to the Classroom Salinas PD officers have joined teachers and staff in welcoming students as they gradually return to schools in Salinas for in person instruction. Chief Adele Fresé announced her retirement on Wednesday, April 28, via a press conference. You can watch the full press conference on the Salinas Channel on Youtube. Celebrating Bilingual/Multilingual Advocacy Month Chief Adele Fresé was invited by Boronda Meadows Elementary school to do a virtual read aloud. Chief Fresé read the children’s book, “What do you do with an idea?”. Sgt. Bunny, who is also promoting Autism Awareness, is pictured with Chief Fresé and he was presented to Boronda Meadows Elementary as a donation celebrating the occasion. Sgt.
