Youth & Teen KARATE & MARTIAL ARTS These American Tae-Kwon-Do Karate classes for adults, teens and youth ages seven and up are designed to teach participants self-defense, safety awareness and teamwork while in- creasing flexibility and learning basic fundamentals such as kicking, punching, flocking, and defense techniques. For youth ages 3-6, New Brighton Parks and Recreation offers Little Tigers Martial Arts, which introduces basic martial arts skills including kicks, punches, and strikes while incorporating focus, discipline and respect. Tenicity Tennis Program In partnership with New Brighton Parks and Recreation, the Tenicity Tennis Program (www. tenicity.com) offers group lessons for ages 4-17 at the Hidden Oaks and Hansen Park ten- nis courts. The program is led by former NCAA National Champion, top junior development coach, and New Brighton resident Harsh Mankad. Tenicity’s team creates a supportive, fun, and structured environment for participants and specializes in developing players with strong fundamental technique and ath- letic skills for higher levels of play. The program has seen ex- cellent participation with over 100 unique players through the spring and summer sessions this year. We invite you to join our six week fall session from September 7 - October 14, 2021 and learn the lifelong game of tennis! Gymnastics New Brighton Parks and Recreation offers gymnastics programs for scan me ages 4-17 at Edgewood Middle School in Mounds View. Classes are open for more info to all abilities, including teens at all levels. Beginners will learn basic moves on various apparatus, and experienced gymnastics will take their skills to the next level in a fun and pressure-free environment. 6

Each participant will head home with a meal, treat, condiment, or other food item to enjoy later on or gift to a loved one. Classes are taught by Marilyn Hathaway, who is a registered dietitian with many years of experience in the food service industry. Whether you’re a sea- soned chef or new to the kitchen, these classes will be informative, exciting and delicious! Fall classes include Apple Butter, Sauerkraut, Lefse, and Holiday Fruit Breads. Adopt-A-Park WWW.NEWBRIGHTONMN.GOV/ADOPTAPARKAPP The Adopt-a-Park program encourages partnerships between citizen groups and the New Brighton Parks and Recreation Department to help maintain and enhance parks in our community. It is a fun, educational, and worthwhile program that allows groups and individuals to take an active role in the beautification of our community. The criteria will make sure residents will receive services from a competent contractor at a fair price. For example, each contractor has been in business a minimum of 5 years and has agreed to a per-tree charge of no more than $6.25 per diameter inch with a $100 minimum charge. The City’s forestry website provides specific information on what services the contractor has agreed to and what the property owner can expect from the contractor. Residents who suspect they or a neighbor has EAB should call Jim Veiman, Park Maintenance-Forester at 651-638-2065. 15

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police- community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
