A MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT GOVERNOR ANDY
I hope everyone enjoyed a great Passover and Easter with family and friends. This marks a
transitional time in Florida as many Snowtarians depart and we look forward to their return in the
fall. It’s always a great experience to engage with these Rotarians over the winter months. We are
grateful to have them in our Rotary family.
UKRAINE RELEF EFFORTS My heart continues to break as I follow the war in Ukraine. As District Governor, I am flooded
with requests to support projects and fundraisers for relief efforts. Many clubs have established partners in Ukraine and
surrounding regions to work together on projects. These international relationships are what make Rotary such a
wonderful organization, and I fully support the resources invested in these projects. I also encourage you to consider
giving to Rotary International’s Disaster Response Fund and applying for the grants available to enhance your efforts.
The distribution of money for these grants is being expedited, and the sooner requests get submitted, the faster these
projects can be executed.
THANK YOU I am pleased to announce that District 6960 has sent a significant amount of support to the people of
Ukraine. We are currently the top-ranked district in Zone 34 in giving to the Disaster Response Fund. Thank you! On
behalf of all of those affected by this tragedy, those who cannot speak the words to you directly, thank you for your
generosity. The District Foundation team is ready to assist you and your global partners in getting grant funds to
enhance your efforts. Please reach out to me or another district leader for help in getting grant money from the Disaster
Response Fund to support Ukraine.
THE ROTARY FOUNDATION The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is a catalyst for making projects around the world a financial
reality. First and foremost, TRF could not operate without the generous gifts made by Rotarians. Again, thank you, for
what you do to help change the world. One core reason I give to our Foundation is the knowledge that Rotarians are
stewards of the money I give and they will ensure it reaches the right place to have the greatest impact. We should give
special attention to the Annual Programs Fund. Fifty percent of our donations to the Annual Fund will come back to our
district in three years to be used for Global and District Grants. This is the power of TRF at work and we are an essential
part of the process. District 6960 continues to lead by example. District Foundation Chair Alfred Current praised
Rotarians in our district at the recent District Assembly for helping us surpass the $1 million threshold in giving to TRF
for the fifth year in a row. Thank you for your generosity.
ROTRY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE (RLI) Part of being a great leader is being agile, and we have had many opportunities
recently to hone in on this skill. After losing several core venues, we have adapted our resources, and it is with great
excitement I announce a new location for RLI. Bob Bedford, principal of Lemon Bay High School in Englewood and
member of the Rotary Club of Englewood Sunset, deserves a big shout-out for securing the school and supporting our
efforts to offer training to Rotarians. Look for more details soon on the DACdb calendar for our first RLI event to be held
at the new venue on Saturday, May 28, 2022. The RLI training team is working hard to bring more frequent opportunities
in a variety of locations throughout the coming year.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Andy Lyman

In April, Rotary celebrates Maternal & Child Health Month,

support to take control of their own maternal and infant
