      L   This is the day which the Lord has made;
      C let us rejoice and be glad in it.
      L From the rising of the sun to its setting,
      C the name of the Lord is to be praised.
      L   Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere;
      C I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in
          the tents of the wicked.
      L Make me to know Your ways, O Lord.
      C   Teach me Your paths.
      L Sanctify us in Your truth.
      C   Your Word is truth.

Readings From Holy Scripture
Reading                                                             Isaiah 66:10–14
    L A reading from Isaiah, the sixty-sixth chapter.
          10
            “Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her,
             all you who love her;
          rejoice with her in joy,
             all you who mourn over her;
          11
            that you may nurse and be satisfied
             from her consoling breast;
          that you may drink deeply with delight
             from her glorious abundance.”
          12
            For thus says the LORD:
          “Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river,
             and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream;
          and you shall nurse, you shall be carried upon her hip,
             and bounced upon her knees.
          13
            As one whom his mother comforts,
             so I will comfort you;
             you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
          14
            You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice;
                                      Page 2 of 10
your bones shall flourish like the grass;
          and the hand of the LORD shall be known to his servants,
            and he shall show his indignation against his enemies.”
     L This is the Word of the Lord.
     C    Thanks be to God.
Psalm 66:1–7
     1
       Shout for joy to God, | all the earth;*
        2
          sing the glory of his name;
        give to him | glorious praise!
     3
       Say to God, “How awesome | are your deeds!*
        So great is your power that your enemies come cringing | to you.
     4
       All the earth worships you
        and sings prais- | es to you;*
        they sing praises | to your name.”
     5
       Come and see what | God has done:*
        he is awesome in his deeds toward the chil- | dren of man.
     6
       He turned the sea into | dry land;*
        they passed through the riv- | er on foot.
     There did we rejoice in him,
        7
          who rules by his might forever,
     whose eyes keep watch on the | nations—*
        let not the rebellious ex- | alt themselves.
Reading                                                       Galatians 6:1–10, 14–18
     A The Epistle is from Galatians, chapter 6.
        1
          Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual
     should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you
     too be tempted. 2Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
     3
       For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives
     himself. 4But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will
     be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. 5For each will have to bear his
     own load.
        6
          One who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who
     teaches. 7Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that
     will he also reap. 8For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh
     reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap
     eternal life. 9And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we

                                      Page 3 of 10
will reap, if we do not give up. 10So then, as we have opportunity, let us do
    good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. . .
       14
          But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
    by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15For neither
    circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.
    16
       And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and
    upon the Israel of God.
       17
          From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the
    marks of Jesus.
       18
          The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
    A This is the Word of the Lord.
    C Thanks be to God.
Reading                                                                 Luke 10:1–20
    L A reading from Luke, chapter 10.
       1
         After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead
    of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to
    go. 2And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
    Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into
    his harvest. 3Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst
    of wolves. 4Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on
    the road. 5Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ 6And
    if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will
    return to you. 7And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they
    provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house.
    8
      Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you.
    9
      Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to
    you.’ 10But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its
    streets and say, 11‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe
    off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come
    near.’ 12I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that
    town.
       13
          “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works
    done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long
    ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14But it will be more bearable in the
    judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. 15And you, Capernaum, will you be
    exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades.
       16
          “The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects
    me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
                                       Page 4 of 10
17
        The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are
    subject to us in your name!” 18And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like
    lightning from heaven. 19Behold, I have given you authority to tread on
    serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall
    hurt you. 20Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to
    you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
    L O Lord, have mercy on us.
    C Thanks be to God.
Responsory                                                                     LSB 263
     L Forever, O Lord, Your Word is firmly set in the heavens.
     C Lord, I love the habitation of Your house and the place where Your
              glory dwells.
     L Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it.
     C Lord, I love the habitation of Your house and the place where Your
              glory dwells.
     L Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

Apostles’ Creed
    C I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
            maker of heaven and earth.

                                       Page 5 of 10
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
             who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
             born of the virgin Mary,
             suffered under Pontius Pilate,
             was crucified, died and was buried.
             He descended into hell.
             The third day He rose again from the dead.
             He ascended into heaven
             and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
             From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
          I believe in the Holy Spirit,
             the holy Christian Church,
                 the communion of saints,
             the forgiveness of sins,
             the resurrection of the body,
             and the life T everlasting. Amen.

      5   Enter, mighty Word, the field;
          Ripe the promise of its yield.
          But the reapers, oh, how few
          For the work there is to do!

           Thy kingdom come,
           Thy will be done on earth
