A Mechanised Collective Feast Monza Liceo Artistico Preziosissimo Sangue 07/08 March 2019 Mary Katherine Spence Carlotta Novella
Una macchina che ci raccolga tutti 7-8 Marzo Liceo Artistico Preziosissimo Sangue Monza intorno allo stesso tavolo. Un banchetto meccanizzato, post-agricolo e post-industriale. Una tavola più lunga, una tovaglia più colorata, una pasta più bizzarra. Cosa portare con voi: 1 grembiule (o dei vestiti che si possono rovinare) 4 mollette da biancheria 1 paio di forbici 1 piatto, 1 forchetta, 1 cucchiaio e 1 bicchiere penne e matite di vari colori colori acrilici con pennelli L’ultima cosa che vi chiediamo di portare è un pò particolare: una manciata di “erbacce commestibili”. Un esempio è l’aglio orsino, molto comune nelle zone di Monza in Marzo, o il tarassaco, o l’ortica e l’acetosa. Insieme a queste erbacce commestivili vi chiediamo di portare con voi una foto o una mappa disegnata a mano che mostri dove le avete raccolte. Vi raccomandiamo di non raccogliere nulla che sembri pericoloso - controllate su interent o chiedete a qualcuno di vostra conoscenza prima di raccogliere. Ci sono varie specie protette che non possono essere raccolte per mantenere la biodiversità locale. Per raccogliere le foto abbiamo creato un account Instagram dove ciascuno di voi potrà postare le foto di dove avete raccolto queste erbacce o la foto di un disegno o mappa che avete creato per descrivere il luogo. Se non usate Instagram portate una copia digitale su cellulare o chiavetta USB. Vi chiediamo di raccogliere e postare le foto con la location prima del 6 Marzo. Nell’ampio territorio della Pianura Padana, l’industrializzata Brianza e la sua capitale Monza sono divenuti negli anni uno dei poli manifatturieri dell’Italia del Nord. In un paesaggio post-industrializzato, dove stanche fabbriche emergono tra i ritagli di un paesaggio fertile e bucolico, autostrade e maestose reggie. Ma può questo paesaggio post-industriale divenire il sito adatto per un gesto collettivo, insirato ed inspiratore per un futuro sociale, poetico, civico e artistico? Nel suo Manifesto della Pittura Industriale - Per un’arte unitaria applicabile (1959), l’artista Situazionista Giuseppe Pinot Gallizio scrisse: “Oggi l'uomo è parte della macchina che ha creato e che gli è negata e ne è da essa dominato. Bisogna invertire questo non senso o non si avrà più creazione; bisogna dominare la macchina ed obbligarla al gesto unico, inutile, anti-economico, artistico, per creare una nuova società anti-economica ma poetica, magica, artistica.” Ma ci chiediamo, è vero che attraverso una nuova industrializzazione dominata dall’uomo e dalla natura potremo finalmente raggiungere una indipendeza collettiva, una produzione della comunità e coesione basata sulla poesia? Per scoprirlo spenderemo due giorni, il 7 e l’8 Marzo, per creare un “banchetto meccanizzato” per 100 invitati. Tre stazioni - 1.il pastificio, 2.la tinteggiatura e 3.la stamperia - diventeranno l’officina di sapori, colorazioni ed estrusioni per orchestrare e produrre un’opera d’arte commestibile, una sagra in corridoio.
DAY 1 Location: Lecture theatre for presentation followed by 3 classrooms. Format: 09:00_Introductory lecture and day briefing 10:00_3 Stations running parallely with classes of students rotating between them* Station 1: dough testing and pasta production Station 2: souce prep and table cloth dye Station 3: poster and menu making 13:00_LUNCH 14:00_3 Stations running parallely with classes of students rotating between them* Station 1: dough testing and pasta production Station 2: souce prep and table cloth dye Station 3: poster and menu making 15:30_Gathering and discussion of Day 2 plan - what we have learnt from the day showing work produced - deciding what to use 17:00_Day one over Description: The 80 students will be divided into 3 classes of around 26 students each (the students are kept in their own class). *There will be 3 stations of mechanisation, each class gets to experience a station for 1.5 hours. Each station relates to one course of the meal to be staged in the afternoon of the second day. DAY 2 Location: Lecture theatre. Format: 09:00_Morning meeting to run through day tasks 10:00_Set up corridor cooking, serving, clean up stations + table + menu making 13:00_LUNCH 14:00_Feast preparation 15:30_Serve feast + toasts 16:30_Clean up Description: Students will be divided into groups for the final preparation of the feast food and hosting items. Then we move to the gym, set up in the morning for food preparation, and then after lunch set up for the feast.
