Little League Mission Statement Little League Baseball, Incorporated is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball and Softball.” Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Little League program assists children in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League Baseball and Softball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes.

Background Checks All Volunteers need a background check. • Register as a volunteer via the MLL website • All local Little League programs in the United States are required to conduct national criminal background checks, in addition to a search of the Department of Justice National Sex Offender Registry, for each volunteer with regular service to the league or repetitive access to children • The Little League International provider for background checks is J.D. Palantine (JDP) • Little League Rule - Regulation I (c), section 8 and 9

Safety Plan – Coach Responsibilities Attend Coaches Meeting and PCA Training Uphold Code of Conduct & follow MLL and Blue Book Rules Have Medical Release Forms present at all practices and games Inspect Equipment before each practice and game Inspect Field for hazards before each game or practice Bring First-Aid kits and ice/cold packs to every practice and game
Safety Plan – Coach Responsibilities Bring a cellular phone to all games and practices Warm-up dynamic warm-up drills before practices and games Triage minor injuries immediately Notify Complete Accident Notification Form for major injuries Inform team of safety hazards on and off the field Check First-Aid kit to make sure it’s fully stocked with supplies
Allergies • MLL has multiple kids with moderate to severe allergies • No food should be in the dugout • Ask your team parents if there is anything you need to know • Always know where you are just in case you have to make the call (have a phone in your bag)

Dynamic Warm-Up: Mobility Drills • High Knees: run forward, bringing knees close to chest; emphasize arm action. • Butt Kicks: run forward; bring heels close to the buttocks, emphasize arm action. • Power Skip: skip forward, bring one knee to chest; keep head up and work arms. • Carioca: run laterally, crossing one leg over the other. • Hip Rolls: hip bent at 90 degree angle; bring knee from outside to inside.
Dynamic Warm-Up: Mobility Drills • High Kicks / Zombie Walk: knees straight; kick straight forward as high as possible • Backward Run: lean forward at waist, knees bent, run backwards, pump arms. • Forward Run: do two at 75% and two at 90-100%. • Jumping Jacks: 30 seconds • Arm Circles: forward and back; 30 seconds

Field Prep • Field Prep – Home Team • Rake/Chalk the field • Recruit a volunteer! • Know the box codes • Lock the boxes after each game • Clean up dugouts postgame • Put away the Bases!

April 23: MLL Pitch, Hit & Run • What is it? • PITCH: Tests how accurately a competitor can throw strikes to a designated "Strike Zone" target • HIT: Tests a competitor's ability to hit from a stationary batting tee straight-away to centerfield • RUN: Will measure a competitor's speed in a sprint • In prior years, MLL finalists made it to T-Mobile Park • PHR Contact: Chris Kent

All-Stars • What is it? • Tournament teams at 10s and up • When is it? • Season starts in mid-June and runs 3 to 10 weeks (depending on team’s results) • Who is it for? • MLL’s dedicated and talented players, as selected by their fellow players and the Head Coaches • When is registration? • Around May 1 through May 15 • 2022 Results • MLL had an amazing run in 2022, with 2 District 8 Champions & 1 WA State Champion

Field Decorum Official Little League Rule: Regulation XIV - Field Decorum • (a) The actions, on or off the field, of players, managers, coaches, umpires, and league officials must be above reproach • (e) The possession and/or use of firearms, tobacco products, cigarettes (including e-cigarettes and vapors), controlled substances and alcoholic beverages in any form is prohibited on the playing field, benches, or dugouts. Alcohol is prohibited at the game site. Seattle Municipal Code: • SMC 18.12.255 - Liquor offenses: “It is unlawful in a park to consume, or to possess an open container holding, or to open a container holding liquor…” • SMC 18.12.257 - Unlawful possession of liquor in a public park: “It is unlawful in a park to possess an unopen container of liquor…”
