COURSES FACULTY DAY AND TIME LOCATION Every Tuesday • 10:00 Art Classes Residents 2nd Floor Activity Room am Join your friends and have fun painting! We have supplies, but feel free to bring your own. This is an informal group and all are encouraged to come and have fun painting. Becky Presents Becky Cleveland Every Friday • 7:00pm 2nd Floor Media Room Each Friday, Becky chooses a movie, show, or program of interest to watch and discuss. Wear your comfy clothes and bring a blanket! 1st Monday of the Broadway Shows Colleen Varney 2nd Floor Media Room Month • 12:30pm Each month, we will show a live Broadway play right here at Erie Station! These popular shows were done live and recorded so we can enjoy them anytime. The list of shows include everything from "Kinky Boots" to "The Sound of Music" and much, much more. 3rd Wednesday of the Cathy's Creations Cathy Cain 2nd Floor Activity Room Month • 1:30pm Community Life associate Cathy will offer a new and beautiful project to work on each month. No experience is necessary - Cathy breaks down the projects so everyone from novice to expert can create a lovely piece of art. All supplies are provided for these classes. 1st Floor Green Living Discussion Group Colleen Varney Every Monday • 3:00pm Room Each Monday, we will discuss a current or past topic, relevant to our world today. We will read articles, watch videos, and share our thoughts and opinions on so many different topics! Drama Club Deborah Barsel Every Friday • 2:30pm 2nd Floor Activity Room Explore your inner performer and join our Drama Club. Each Friday we'll meet to work through short skits together. Throughout the semester, we'll hone our skills and practice for a performance for our friends and family. We will preview our skits with open table readings and dress rehearsals. All levels of ability are welcome - we also need help with set designs, costumes, and make-up!
COURSES FACULTY DAY AND TIME LOCATION 1st Thursday of the Fall Prevention Series Colleen Varney 2nd Floor Media Room Month • 3:00pm Each month, we will cover topics that relate to falls risk and falls prevention. After the presentation, we will engage in exercises that target muscles to decrease our risk of falling. Learn techniques and tips to keep you and your home safe and fall-free. Getting Fit in Your 60's 3rd Thursday of the Colleen Varney 2nd Floor Media Room and Beyond Month • 3:00pm Exercise is one of the best ways to age gracefully! Each month, Colleen will cover a topic relevant to exercise as we age. Some of the presentations will include 10 minute cardio exercises, push-up hacks, back pain, and beginner exercise programs. We will also discuss healthy eating, substitutes for sugary drinks, sleep, and skin care. Becky Cleveland & Cathy Every Wednesday • Great Courses 2nd Floor Media Room Cain 3:00pm Each month, we will explore a new and exciting topic. Presentations include art, climate change, the Pharaohs of Egypt, classic literature, and more. 2nd Friday of the Month Jewelry Making Keri Cuyler 2nd Floor Activity Room • 11:00am Making jewelry is a great creative outlet, fun class, and heartfelt way to make a gift for a loved one or friend. Each month, Keri will lead a project in line with the season. Spring is a great time to update your jewelry to include bright colors and floral themes. Massage & Meditation Evelyn Spruill TBD 2nd Floor Media Room Evelyn is the daughter of one of our newest residents, Bernadette, and she owns her own massage business. She will teach us how to provide purposeful and therapeutic self-massage, along with healing breathing and meditation techniques. 2nd Wednesday of the National Geographic Rosemary Higgins 2nd Floor Library Month • 3:30pm Each month, Rosemary will explore a new and interesting topic that comes right from National Geographic. The class consists of lecture, media, and conversations regarding current and interesting topics from around the world.

Join us for these thoughtful and educational topics. Silver Sneakers Classic Colleen Varney Every Friday • 2:00pm 2nd Floor Media Room Silver Sneakers is an exercise program specifically designed with seniors in mind. Join Colleen as she leads you through exercises to improve balance, build strength, increase endurance, and improve your overall feeling of well-being. Exercises can be done seated or standing. By Appointment • Tech 101 Jose George Jose will come to you! Anytime Have questions about using technology? Jose is your man! He will guide you through general and specific information on using your computer, logging on to WiFi, setting up voicemail on your phone, and setting up and managing your cable television. Colleen Varney & Cathy Every Thursday • The Art of Storytelling 2nd Floor Media Room Cain 11:00am Do you love to tell a story? Or hear a great one? There is much to learn to tell an engaging and interesting story that will keep your audience intrigued. In this course, we will explore how to tell a story, create and develop characters, and keep your readers wanting more. No experience is necessary! Wii Bowling League Colleen Varney Daily • 11:30am 2nd Floor Media Room We have partnered with the National Senior League to participate in a nationwide, all senior, virtual bowling league! Ask Colleen for more information. Open Wii Bowling is also available at various times during the week.
Faculty Biographies NAME OF INSTRUCTOR CLASS NAME Cathy Cain Cathy's Creations, Great Courses Cathy is a familiar face in our community, serving as overnight Security, as well as Community Life Assistant. She has always been a history buff, especially that of Western New York State; an interest she maintained through a career that included managing a regional insurance brokerage firm, their human resources, and IT. Cathy also lends her talents to us during her Creations class, making art in various forms, for artists of all levels. Colleen Varney Silver Sneakers, Fall Prevention, Discussion Group Colleen has been with Legacy since 2013 at two of our sister locations, Park Crescent and Clover Blossom. She is a certified Senior Fitness Instructor, holding certifications in Arthritis Foundation Exercises and Silver Sneakers. She has a passion for finding ways to stay active in your 50's, 60's, 70's and beyond. Deborah Barsel Drama Club Debbie has been here for just over one year, and she brought with her her love of theater. Debbie majored in Art History and worked at both George Eastman House and Memorial Art Gallery. She also worked in the IT department at the University of Rochester. She spent 9 years in Hawaii before returning to Rochester. Evelyn Spruill Massage & Meditation Evelyn is the daughter of Bernadette Keleher and she resides in Pittsford. Evelyn owns her own massage business and is excited to share with us the many benefits of massage and meditation. Jose George Tech 101 Jose, Dining Services Director and Executive Chef, is also our go-to guy for all things technological. He has been with Watermark for 2 years, and has been with the Legacy family for 12 years. He enjoys bringing smiles and happiness to others by sharing the knowledge that he has about food and technology. Keri Cuyler Jewelry Making Keri has worked in the field of geriatrics for over 25 year. She is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with an addition Certification in gerontology. She has worked with people with dementia and how to live productive, meaningful lives. She has spoken at numerous family meetings and professional seminars regarding the topics of dementia, the importance of recreation for people living with dementia and how families can interact with a loved ones suffering from this disease.
NAME OF INSTRUCTOR CLASS NAME Rosemary Higgins National Geographic Rosemary has been a part of the Erie Station family for a little over one year, greeting residents and guests as a Front Desk Concierge. Rosemary lives nearby and her mother is a resident of our sister community, Legacy at Clover Blossom.
