International Women’s Day 2021, get involved! 7. “Feel good Friday” – February winner is announced! 1. Message from the Chief Executive Hello Everyone, I hope you are well. Two important things to share today. Firstly, we are very short of receptionists and drivers this weekend, so if you can help out with some hours - even if it's not normally your day job - then please let Sara Doughty know (sara.doughty@pc24.nhs.uk). Secondly, Dr John Caldwell is leaving his clinical leadership role at PC24 this weekend. John has been involved in Out of Hours since 1996 and has served our organisation as Associate Medical Director, Clinical Audit Lead, Interim Medical Director and lately as the Clinical Lead for Integrated Urgent Care. He will continue his passion of Out of Hours and deteriorating patients by working with the Innovation Agency as Regional Lead for North West Coast AHSN on the Covid-19 Oximetry@Home and the Covid Virtual Wards Projects. John is also involved with the development of clinical pathways with the national deterioration team. He will continue to do some clinical and educational work for Primary Care 24 on an ad-hoc basis, so he won’t be stepping away completely. It’s been a real privilege to work with John, he will be sadly missed, and we wish him well in his next role. Stay safe all. Mary Dr Mary Ryan Chief Executive.
2. Personal Risk Assessments Staff who have not yet completed a Personal Risk Assessment for Covid are invited to do so. If you would like a form, please ask your line manager who can provide you with one. Please ensure these forms are returned to HR so that they can be saved in your personal file. For those staff in a higher risk category, we advise you review your assessment with your manager after six months. Regardless of your initial risk, if your circumstances change, you should request a review of your risk assessment. If you have any queries, please contact jean.annan@pc24.nhs.uk. 3. 4. The Covid vaccine and pregnancy/ or under fertility treatment Two experts from Liverpool Women’s Hospital have put the following short video together to provide some reassurance on issues relating to fertility and pregnancy. You can hear from Alice Bird (Consultant Obstetrician) and Andrew Drakeley (Consultant Gynaecologist and Clinical Director for the Hewitt Fertility Centre) in a short 3-minute video here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OQHUeagBmL7v9FuJqtA1SAqW-JYSYasx/view 5. Carers in Liverpool to receive the Covid-19 vaccine The local NHS and Liverpool City Council are appealing to unpaid carers whose role currently isn’t recorded, to make themselves known so that they can have the Covid-19 vaccine. Anyone in Liverpool already identified as a carer in their GP records; those who receive Carer’s Allowance; or those known to Liverpool City Council or Liverpool Carer’s Centre Local Solutions, will be automatically invited for a vaccination over the coming weeks and don’t need to take any further action. However, some people could be at risk of missing out, because their carer status is unknown to services. Those currently eligible for a Covid-19 vaccine as a carer include anyone who is eligible for Carer’s Allowance, or who acts as the sole or primary carer of an elderly or disabled person who is at increased risk of COVID-19 mortality, including: • Children with severe neuro-disabilities (your GP will have already been in contact to invite your child for vaccination if they are included) • Those who are designated Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (advised to shield) • Adults who have underlying health conditions • Those who need care because of advanced age. Anyone who thinks they might be eligible to receive a vaccine as a carer, but who doesn’t receive Carer’s Allowance or have their carer status recorded with any of the organisations mentioned above, should contact the Liverpool Carers Centre now. This includes carers aged 16 – 18, as well as adult carers. You can find the full media statement and all the contact details needed here: https://primarycare24.org.uk/news/2021/02/25/carers-in-liverpool-to-receive-covid-19- vaccine/
