WELCOME On behalf of the Town of St. Francisville, Louisiana, The Endurance Foundation, Premier Event Management and all of our sponsors, we want to welcome each rider to the Gran Fondo St. Francisville! The enclosed information is for you and the riders around you who are joining us on this unique tour of the historic back racing and riding event. Please review ALL the information enclosed in this document, as it will help you, your friends and family to have a great day at the inaugural Gran Fondo St. Francisville Bike Cycling Classic! RIDER IDENTIFICATION KIT Each rider will receive a ride packet with the following items needed to ride: • Rider Bike Number (Placed on Bike – This has timing Device Attached – See Below Graphic for proper placement) • Rider Helmet Number (Placed on Helmet) GENERAL INFORMATION PLEASE PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY! – 5:30am – 7:15am • In order to minimize congestion along the course, riders will begin to enter into their start corrals according to their estimated pace by 7:15 am. Please look for the appropriate signage for your starting according to YOUR estimated ride pace! • Start Time: 7:30AM Recommended arrival time: 5:30AM – 7:15AM • Once the ride starts, the front of the Gran Fondo St. Francisville Cycling Event will have a rolling start for the first 2.5 miles that will not exceed 12 mph. Once the 2.5 mile location has been reached and race management receives the all clear, RACING WILL BEGIN! • Twenty Five Members of the St. Francisville Police Department, West & East Feliciana Police Departments and the City of Jackson Police Department will be stationed at each turn on each course. • ROADS ARE NOT CLOSED TO TRAFFIC FOR THIS EVENT, AND RIDERS MUST USE CAUTION WHEN APPROACHING A TURN AND MAKING THEIR TURN! Please follow all event signage & course markings and police and marshals instructions at all times. All turns on each course will have bright orange arrows placed on the ground as added reinforcement of an impending turn ahead! • The Finish Festival at Perfect Park will be from 8:30AM to 1:00PM 2021 GRAN FONDO ST. IMPORTANT COURSE CHANGE Due to bridge construction on the 25 mile route, that course has been altered to 20 miles for this weekend’s event. Also, all events have been slightly altered in and around the Town Hall of St. Francisville Complex, so riders can finish strong and safe without any turns impeding your finish speed. 1.) There will be 2 rest stops on the 37.5 mile route & the 58.5 on courses for this event. There is no rest stop on the 20 mile ride, so please carry ample water supplies for that distance event. Rest Stations will have restrooms, Water, Gatorade, Ice, Bananas, and Snacks! 2.) Be Safe, Smart and have Fun as we bike through some of the most beautiful Countryside!! 3.) RULES OF THE ROAD & EVENT The following is a listing of rules and measures that will ensure you and others around you have a safe and secure 2021 Gran Fondo St. Francisville event. Thanks in advance for your cooperation! • You must wear a helmet to ride in the Gran Fondo St. Francisville. NO HELMET NO RIDE! • Be sure your bib number are visible, FinisherPix will use the numbers on each to match you up to photos they’ll be taking throughout the day. Afterward, riders will be able to view and purchase these photos online. • Carry photo identification (children excluded) and keep it handy; you may be asked to show it. • Gran Fondo St. Francisville is for human-powered cyclists only. Skateboarders, rollerblades, e-bikers, etc. may not participate. • Children younger than 13 years old may not participate. • Youth ages 13 to 17 can ride their own bicycles, but must remain in close proximity to their adult guardian also registered for this event. • Watch for and follow instructions from Course Marshals and members of the Law Enforcement and other first responders working to ensure your safety. • Maintain adequate distance between you and the cyclists around you, especially going downhill. • Faster cyclists pass on the left. Slower-paced cyclists stay to the right • Move all the way to the side of the road if walking your bike. • Exercise caution when changing lanes. • Control speed and slow down for congestion and hazardous conditions. • Keep at least one hand on the handlebar at all times and remember to cycle defensively. • No headphones, cell-phone use, picture taking, or use of mobile devices while riding. • Carry only what is necessary in handlebar bags, and/or bags that attach to the back of the seat. DO NOT CROSS THE CENTER LINE ON ANY OF THESE COURSE AT ANY TIME. TRAFFIC IS OPEN AND RIDER SAFETY IS IMPORTANT AT ALL TIMES! Gran Fondo St. Francisville and Premier Event Management reserves the right to reject any entry and to disqualify and bar or remove any individual from the Gran Fondo St. Francisville event. Reasons for this include but are not limited to: violation of the aforementioned event rules, unsafe conduct, abusive behavior, nonpayment of event fees, participating without an official Rider Identification Kit, participating with an official Rider Identification Kit assigned to another person, transferring or attempting to transfer an official Rider Identification Kit or to obtain such items from another person, and providing false information on your Gran Fondo St. Francisville entry form! Our Post Event Celebration Includes: • Portable Restrooms • Water, Gatorade, Ice • Beer • Bananas, Oranges, Apples, Breakfast Bars, Cookies, Jambalaya • Information Table • DJ Entertainment from Perfect Park Awards - Top 10 Male & Female Riders from Each Event will receive awards in the post event area. 2021 GRAN FONDO ST.
