Morris Animal Refuge
Our Mission
History
Founded in 1874, the Morris Animal Refuge is a pioneer in Animal
Welfare. The Philadelphia-based life saving organization is
committed to adoption, education, and high-quality care with
the goal of finding positive and humane outcomes for animals in
need.
Commitment
As a Life Saving organization, Morris Animal Refuge is dedicated
to getting all our animals the placement best suited for their
needs and the medical care they require. Every day, we strive to
expand what pets are considered "adoptable", finding happy
homes for pets with all kinds of special needs. To this end, we
often work with animals who have behavioral and medical
issues ourselves, and when that's not possible, always seek to
connect them with the resources that they need.
Working Together
We support other local shelters by transferring animals as often
as we can, thus helping clear space in high-admission shelters
like ACCT and working toward the best outcome for as many
animals as possible. This puts Morris at the center of a bustling
community of hard-working organizations all working toward a
common goal.
Our commitment to the mission and the huge amount of support we receive
from community partners has allowed us to do all this and more. We have a

Our Audience & How We Connect
The Crowd
The Fur Ball is our most well-attended annual
event, drawing 300 to 400 guests every year. We
have a wide variety of attendees, with an age
demographic ranging from mid-20s to early-70s.
Approximately two thirds of our guests reside in
Philadelphia, while the remaining third travel to
attend from surrounding areas. We work with
vendors, sponsors, and donors from all over the
Philadelphia area, all of whom are indispensable
to making this event happen. The Fur Ball is a
