Program 2021 Hall of Fame Master of Ceremonies Cory Anderson ’89 ● Inductees Greetings Kyle Bauer ‘93 Valley City, N.D. VCSU Athletic Director, Golf | 1989-92 Jill DeVries A two-time All-Conference honoree, Bauer ● helped the VCSU men’s golf team to back-to- Special Remarks back conference championships during his career. A native of Valley City, Bauer chose VCSU President, to attend his hometown university and found Dr. Alan LaFave collegiate success as a Viking golfer. Bauer ● was named All-Conference in both 1990 and Invocation 1991, helping the Vikings win conference championships both seasons. As a junior in VCSU student-athlete, 1991, he finished second at the conference Kyley Lauf meet with a 5-over par score of 149. Bauer was also named NAIA Academic ● All-American as a senior in 1992. Outside of his career as a Viking, Bauer won three club championships at the Valley City Town & Country Club, and Dinner he is the only golfer to ever make a hole-in-one on the 346-yard hole 8. ● Kyle passed away in 2021 and is being inducted posthumously. Induction Ceremony Matt Johnson ‘94 Induction of: Valley City, N.D. Kyle Bauer ‘93 Golf | 1991-93 Accepted By: Don Bauer A Valley City native, Johnson was a three- ● time All-District and All-Conference golfer for the Vikings from 1991-93. His indi- Induction of: vidual title helped the Vikings to their second straight team conference championship. 1990 Men’s Golf Team That same year, he finished runner-up at the 1991 Men’s Golf Team NAIA District 12 Meet. As a junior and senior, Speaker: Todd Pederson Johnson earned both All-Conference and All-District honors. He was also ● named NAIA Academic All-American as a senior. Johnson is the only Viking golfer in school history to earn three All-District honors. Induction of: Mike Tenuto ‘76 ● Mike Tenuto Induction of: Philadelphia, Pa. Football | 1972-75 Jeff Pederson ‘83 Mike Tenuto was a three-time All-Confer- ● ence player for the Valley City State football Induction of: team in the 1970s. Tenuto excelled in dis- Teri (Loe) Cresap ‘86 rupting the opposing team’s offense as a de- fensive tackle. He was named All-Conference ● in 1973, 1974 and 1975, and was named Induction of: the team’s Most Improved Player during the Tom Klapp ‘05 conference championship season of 1972. ● He received Honorable Mention All-District in 1974 and was named the team’s Top Closing Remarks Defensive Player. During his senior season in 1975, Tenuto was a team cap- Jill DeVries tain and helped lead the Vikings to a 7-2 record. He earned All-Conference, All-District and Honorable Mention All-American as a senior.
Jeff Pederson ‘83 Teri (Loe) Cresap ‘86 Grafton, N.D. McVille, N.D. Football | 1979-82 Women’s Basketball & Pederson excelled as a kick- Softball | 1983-86 er and punter for the Valley Cresap was a two-sport City State football team from standout for the Vikings in 1979-82.
