COURSES FACULTY DAY AND TIME LOCATION Ukulele Class with Steve Second Saturday of Steve Kritzer Living Room Kritzer Each Month 1:30pm Come join Steve Kritzer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and popular ukulele teacher for our Ukulele Jam. Steve has performed at festivals, concerts, bars, and coffeehouses around the US and Europe, as well as songleading for children, and, as part of Young At Heart, performs about a 100 shows a year. A man of many musical gifts, Kritzer is as comfortable with Celtic and Bluegrass music as he is with traditional Folk, Country, Rock, contemporary Inspirational, traditional hymns, and Big Band Swing, blending these influences with his own ideas and amazingly diverse musical talents. Don't miss out on your chance at mastering the Ukulele. Tuesday March 24th Health Talk with Cindy Cindy Tallarico Living Room 9:30am This March, Cindy our RN, will talk to you about heart health. Bring your ears and all of your questions for her to answer and plan to stay healthier a good long time. "The Beatles" History Thursday March 5th William Zigler Cafe Talk 1:30pm I think its safe to say we all remember the Beatles. I'm sure we all had our favorite hit song of theirs. But how much do you really know about how it all got started? Come and learn all about how one of the most successful bands, known as the Beatles, rose to fame. Second and Fourth Friday Spanish for Beginners Fernando Olguin Living Room Each Month • 1:30pm Join Fernando as he teaches basic words and phrases in Spanish. He will provide a vocabulary list at each session, but please bring a list of anything you really need to know how to say. Fernando will adapt the class to the needs of each group.
COURSES FACULTY DAY AND TIME LOCATION Last Saturday of Each Documentary Film Club Angie Warren Living Room Month- 9:40 AM Each month we choose a film that gives us a new insight into a different topic or biographical figure. We invite you to explore spirituality, theatrical personalities, natural phenomenon and so much more about the world in which we live. Following the film, we will have a short discussion about the films themes, social and artistic relevance. Films This Semester: January 25th- "Biggest Little Farm" February 29th- "The Legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder" March 28th- "In Praise of Dahlias" April 25th-"The American South By Rail" First Friday of Each Art with Maria Maria Carrasco Cafe Month- 1:15 PM Maria Carrasco leads Art Ministry for The Well (A Christian Community) and is also a family member in our community. The classes that she brings to us are well designed and easy to follow. You will find that you are more talented than you ever imagined with Maria's simple techniques and fun demeanor. Jazz & History with Christopher Shubert & Wednesday January 7th Christopher Schubert & Gardens Neighborhood Victor Sirdah 2:00pm Victor Sirdah Christopher and Victor are both long time students of Jazz. Christopher has been studying Jazz for 4 years at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley. He is well versed in the history of jazz. Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, United States. It originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and developed from roots in blues and ragtime. Jazz is characterized by swing and blues notes, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Come learn some history and hear the vocals and jazz guitar of Christopher Schubert & bass player Victor Sirdah. Baking Bread with Khatra Khatra Emran Every Saturday- 10:00am Gardens Neighborhood Let’s bake bread! We’ll learn the secrets to making amazing bakery-quality bread with your bread machine! Making homemade bread is easier than you think. Khatra will demonstrate a new recipe every Saturday, then we will enjoy the delightful aromas throughout our neighborhood. After the bread machine finishes its process, usually about 3 and a half hours, we will enjoy a nice warm buttered piece of bread together.

One of the Bay Areas most talented florists is coming to our community to teach us everything she knows. Tara Wharton, also known as "Freckled Floral" will be showing and telling us all her secrets to the perfect floral design. Mark your calendars because we can't wait to see you there! Vegan Cooking Tuesday February 11th Tara Buchanan Gardens Neighborhood Demonstration with Tara 10:00am Join us for a Vegan cooking demonstration by Tara Buchanan our very own hair Stylist, Tara has been a Vegan for 5 years and loves to experiment with delicious dishes. Attendees will be guided through the process, taught about the ingredients and given tips and ideas for their own culinary endeavors. Most importantly, once assembled, the dishes will be tasted and discussed. A perfect way to develop an understanding of vegan dishes and sample some fresh, high quality food; a great class for the vegan- curious. Fruit and Vegetable February 10th Ray Duey Cafe Carving Demonstration 1:30pm Culinary artist, Chef Ray L. Duey, CEC, is nothing short of amazing when it comes to food sculpting. To call him an artist is an understatement at best. In addition to working his magic on centerpieces, he travels around the country, teaching the culinary art of fruit and vegetable carving, leaving spectators and culinary professionals alike spellbound. Chef Ray is known for taking any fruit or vegetable and turning the ordinary into something extraordinary. According to Chef Ray, any type of produce can be carved into arrangements or centerpieces that literally astonish. Short Story Discussion Chelsey Samano Mondays - 11:00am Café Group Join Chelsey each week as she shares a new written short story, highlighting various authors from many different genres. The story is read aloud by the group and then discussed in detail. These lively discussions cover everything from the authors point of reference, setting, era and uses of language. Current Events Fridays & Saturdays - Angie Warren Living Room Discussion Group 9:15 AM Each week we will read and discuss news and current events stories that are national, international, and local. We will share thoughts and opinions with a goal of gaining a better insight into the world we live in.
COURSES FACULTY DAY AND TIME LOCATION First & Map Chat Angie Warren Library Third Tuesdays- 1:00 PM Each week we learn in-depth facts and lore about a different part of our globe. Rivers, mountains, climate and political structure are just some of the things we tackle in this informative and interactive hour. Big Group Trivia Angie Warren Wednesdays - 1:15 PM Living Room Each Wednesday at 1:15 the most brilliant minds at The Watermark at Rosewood Gardens gather in our very own living room to show off their grand knowledge of all things trivia. OK, so you don’t actually have to be a college professor to enjoy this very fun group trivia hour. As we tackle questions of History, the arts, Geography, and General Knowledge, we guess, we discuss, we laugh, and we have a terrific time. Every Wednesday- Round Table Book Club Dawn Schubert Gardens Neighborhood 1:30PM If you’re a book worm, join us in Garden’s for our Round table Book Club. We will be reading a variety of books with titles such as, The Fabulous Four (Beatles), Exploring New York City, John F. Kennedy, Sights of Italy and JAZZ just to name a few. We will read and discuss these topics, hope to see you there! First & Third Thursdays - Writing your Stories Stephanie Goodyear Library 6:30 PM Each of us has many stories in our lives and in our minds. Getting them on paper can be intimidating. You don't need to be a Hemingway to tell your own true stories. Join Stephanie as she provides a safe and comfortable environment for you to get your stories on paper so they will live on forever. Words & Phrases Chelsey Samano Thursdays - 3:00 PM Living Room Where do words and phrases come from, how do they evolve? Do we still use them correctly? What is that slang my grandson just used? Meet us in the Living Room at The Watermark at Rosewood Gardens and learn it all! Chair Tai Chi for Sindy Satwinder Tuesdays - 10:15 AM Sun Room Beginners Relax your mind, body and soul as Sindy Satwinder leads you through the therapeutic journey that is Tai Chi. The ancient art of Tai Chi uses gentle flowing movements to reduce the stress of today's busy lifestyles and improve health. Sindy will explain the meaning of each movement and how they are beneficial to your body. Be sure to join us as we embark on this peaceful journey to total relaxation.
COURSES FACULTY DAY AND TIME LOCATION Wednesdays & Exercise with Nicole Nicole Ann Peblier Sunroom Thursdays - 9:30 AM If you’ve been keeping your physical exercise to yourself and feel like you’re getting bored with your routine, then it’s worth exploring some of the many benefits of group exercise classes. Come and join Nicole and the rest of us and keep fit, have fun and improve mobility and balance.
Faculty Biographies NAME OF INSTRUCTOR CLASS NAME Angie Warren Various Courses Angie, our incredible Activities Assistant, is the glue that holds our department together. Her efforts to provide the very best in activities shows in all she does. She is also a devoted mom and wife. She spends a great deal of time supporting her kids in all of their many sports and cheer activities. Angie is always there for all of our residents with a big smile and a laugh. Cindy Tallarico Health Talk Cindy has been a practicing RN for more than twenty years and spent many of them working directly with our residents here at Rosewood Gardens. We were thrilled last spring when she came on as our full time Wellness Nurse. She recently became a grandmother for the first time and also enjoys spending time at home with Terry, her significant other and her adorable dog. Dawn Schubert Various Gardens Courses Dawn was recently promoted to Program Director in our Gardens Neighborhood, she has been dazzling folks in our memory care program with her many recreational talents for over a year now. Dawn adds a special life to everything she does. She is also a great mom, a professional photographer and wife for thirty years and an all around amazing person. Tara Wharton Floral Designing Tara is one of the Bay Areas most well known florists. Tara is known for her elaborate floral designing talents, which is mostly showcased at weddings all throughout Northern California. When she is not designing masterpieces for weddings, she is teaching as an elementary school substitute teacher. She is a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend, and she enjoys family time during her off time. Fernando Olguin Spanish for Beginners Fernando has worked in our Maintenance department for several years. Fernando is full of wonderful ideas and support for all of our residents. Fernando has generously volunteered to share his knowledge of the Spanish language with us all and we are so grateful for his dedication to our Watermark University program and to all of our residents.
NAME OF INSTRUCTOR CLASS NAME Ray Duey Fruit and Vegetable Carving Demonstration Culinary artist, Chef Ray L. Duey, CEC, is nothing short of amazing when it comes to food sculpting. Sindy Satwinder Tai Chi Sindy's Tai Chi class has been a part of Rosewood Gardens for as long as any of us can recall. She teaches all over the valley and we feel so lucky that we are one of her favorite spots to teach. Stephanie Goodyear Writing Your Stories Stephanie, previously the Community Life Director, now promoted to Executive Director, has been with Watermark for several years. Prior to Watermark, she spent twenty five years running recreation programming for many different populations. she has lead outings White Water Rafting, Cross Country Skiing, To Hawaii, Disneyland and Nashville Tennessee. In her spare time she likes to knit, watch great movies and take long walks. Her dream is to walk the entire Camino de Santiago in Spain. Chelsey Samano Various Courses Chelsey has worked at The Watermark for several years. She started her journey at The Watermark in the transportation department and was our bus driver for five years. Chelsey is now in our Community Life department, learning all the ropes as Community Life Director. Chelsey loves getting to know each and every resident personally. She is also a wife, and a mom to a fabulous toddler and loves life.
