CLIMB to the Top Welcome to our District 54 Annual Conference 2019! We are excited to have you join us for a weekend of fun, learning, and networking. Our theme is “CLIMB to the Top”; the view from the top of a mountain is beautiful and extends for miles. As your experience in Toastmasters helps you improve your communication and leadership skills, we hope you will keep climbing! As you participate in this conference, you will discover ideas to help you along your path to success. Along with fun events such as the Humorous and International Speech Contests, and the Networking Board, there are educational sessions that will motivate you and persuade you to keep climbing. Friday Night’s Trivia event will test your knowledge of music, geography, movies, science, etc. Each table will play as a team to answer questions posed by the trivia masters. You will have an opportunity to share your skills and expertise in the Networking Board, and be ready to answer questions posed by other Toastmasters. Remember to bid on the fabulous items in the Silent Auction and visit the Hospitality Room to savor some snacks during the day. During this Annual Conference, our goals are to communicate with others, learn how to lead a Toastmasters club or team, and invest our time and effort. You will also learn how to motivate yourself and others, and believe in yourself. This is one way you can CLIMB to the top. So, keep CLIMBing! 2019 Annual Conference Co-Chairs Rabah Seffal Kavya Kosalaraman 6
CONFERENCE NETWORKING BOARD Why Network? Establishing a network is important because the most successful people are the most connected people. Investing in personal and professional relationships enables us to grow and develop our skill sets. This growth and development will also help us to stay attuned to industry trends and the changing job market. We can also meet prospective mentors, partners, and clients; and access the resources necessary to foster our career development. How to Use the Networking Board: This 2019 Annual Conference provides the opportunities for attendees to establish and/or enrich their networks. You will receive a Networking Board card at registration. This card will allow you to: • Showcase your skills (it is ok to talk about yourself) • Indicate the skills you would like to develop (don’t be shy) • Add your contact information • Place the completed card on the Networking Board • Visit the Networking Board during the breaks • Make a note of how you might be able to help someone • Connect with that person during or after the conference As a result of the Networking Board, you may discover that you can offer your expertise in one area to someone else; or you, in turn, might discover someone that can help you. Let us take the opportunity to help and mentor others to CLIMB to the Top! 7
