REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT Dear MAPGA Member and Apprentices: 2020 has been a roller-coaster filled with emotions, activity, challenges and for many of us, lots of rounds of golf. We’ve had to deal with furloughs, layoffs, smaller staffs and as each state and county worked back through their re-opening phases, the game of golf has been a beacon of participation. I hope that your facilities have seen this increased engagement, and that as PGA Professionals and Associates, you have been a leader in player development. As we finish up our virtual Chapter meetings and head into November, it’s time to turn our attention to the Fall Membership meeting. The Board is planning a virtual Section Meeting on Monday, November 9th and we hope you will take the time to participate. We will do our very best to make this an engaging session that will be informative, educational and timely. We have also been busy planning the Spring Meeting for 2021 and the format will be very different from what you’re used to seeing. This multi-day Meeting will be held at Lansdowne Resort & Spa from Sunday, February 28 th – Tuesday, March 2nd. On Sunday evening we will hold the Hall of Fame/Awards Banquet and we hope that many of you will attend this special evening to recognize some outstanding Professionals. Monday will include the membership meeting as well as afternoon Teaching Summit education followed by an evening social event at TopGolf Loudoun. On Tuesday, we will continue the Teaching Summit and get everyone on the road home by mid-afternoon. We hope to see an increase in participation and engagement through this new format so please save the dates! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the remarkable play we’ve seen this year since our Tournament Schedule started back up in June. Congratulations to our MAPGA Section Champion Yong Joo, PGA for his outstanding week at the Golden Horseshoe. Additionally, Josh Speight, PGA won the Players Cup at the Williamsburg Club to increase his lead in the OMEGA POY Points race- we will wrap up the POY races at the Match Play in early November. Whether it’s in our tournaments or at your own facilities, I hope you’re making the time to get out and play the game we all love. I wish you all a wonderful off-season and hope you get to relax during the holidays with friends and family. I really hope we can return safely to more in-person gatherings in 2021. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with comments or questions. Sincerely, Josh Tremblay, PGA President Page 4 November 9, 2020 MAPGA Fall Membership Meeting
REPORT OF THE VICE PRESIDENT As with most of your businesses, 2020 has been a tough financial year. The MAPGA has been hovering around breakeven and we have been able to maintain most of our operations. As you will read in the sponsorship report, much of the sponsorship monies were moved around to help maintain section tournament purses/budgets. Even though multiple section tournaments and events were canceled, it did not affect the overall net P/L. As we run those individual events as budget-neutral, the number of professional events canceled did not hurt our bottom line. Many activities have lower revenues, but by definition the expenses are also lower. The numbers reflected below are the Statement of Activities showing the period ending for Aug-20 while comparing the same period to Aug-19. The MAPGA was able to save some money this year in the Special Events (by not having an awards banquet) and Foundation G&A which helped the overall bottom line. Our Junior Golf and Foundation tournaments rely on volume, and for that reason, the overall net profit for Junior and Foundation Tournaments is down. Lastly, this current period is missing handicap revenue that will reflect in next period of statements. Not counting the investment income (which has fluctuated wildly during the year), the MAPGA is showing a net loss of $23k through Aug-20. This is around $62,000 down from last year at the same time. However, with handicap money yet to be posted, and the PGA Dues deadline of October 31st, the revenue should come in to get us closer to even. The Chapter Activities are a snapshot in time of when entry fees had been collected but not paid out for the September Championships and will reduce to zero. One bit of good news, we expect to pay off the mortgage for our Stafford Office in late 2020 or early 2021! This will take around $60,000 from our annual budget that can go towards member programs. Respectfully submitted, Andy Weissinger, PGA Vice President Page 5 November 9, 2020 MAPGA Fall Membership Meeting

REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR I want to first thank you for your hard work and perseverance at your facility and for the golf industry. Despite the obvious perils of a global pandemic, golf has established itself as a safe outdoor sport and seen tremendous growth, even with a huge downturn in March/April. I am writing this in early October and am thankful that we got most of our tournament season in. In March/April/May, I seriously doubted we would have been able to complete this many events. But thanks to diligence from you all as PGA Professionals, superb preparation by our tournament staff and host facilities, and probably throw in a little luck, we have had a successful tournament season so far. We definitely appreciate how many of you have participated and supported your Section/Chapter events! You will read in our Junior Golf Report that we managed to get a majority of our junior season in as well, although Junior League postseason and DCP events were postponed to 2021. I am very appreciative that our staff stayed healthy and productive this year. We shut down the office from mid-March until early June and worked remotely due to the pandemic. I could not be more proud of our staff team for their diligent work, their willingness to learn and utilize new technologies, and to stay on the ball on your behalf. As far as personnel updates, we announced in late January that Kurt Knapper got an offer to return to his former industry as an IT consultant that was too good to pass up. Because of the pandemic shutdown, our process was delayed, but we ended up hiring Andrew Gridley, formerly of the First Tee of DC as our Director of Business Affairs. He started in mid-August and will be handling our financial processes in addition to some Foundation areas. Please join me in welcoming Andrew at agridley@pgahq.com. We have had a wonderful year with our PGAWorks Fellow, Tasita Garcia, who will be with us through the end of the year. She was very involved in PGA REACH Middle Atlantic activities, mostly assisting our Junior Tour because of the cancellation of some of our other activities. She has been an awesome part of our team and are hoping to find her a position in the golf industry! PGA REACH (the PGA’s charitable foundation) has again given us a grant for another PGAWorks Fellowship in 2021. We will be posting the employment notice shortly for this one- year position. While our Fall Chapter and Section meetings will all be virtual (I hope you can join us or have already joined us), we do have our fingers crossed that our 2021 Spring Meeting can be in person. We are planning a “Super Meeting” at Lansdowne Resort from February 28-March 2, 2021. We plan to have our HOF/Awards Banquet on Sunday night (Feb 28), our Section Meeting on Monday morning (March 1) and our Teaching Summit on Monday afternoon and all-day Tuesday (March 2). We hope this collection of activities will attract you to come stay for a few days, share in the camaraderie of our Section, and both honor award winners and learn a little about teaching along the way. We may even have an official or unofficial visit to TopGolf Loudoun. Please save these dates on your calendar! As a reminder, we will honor our 2020 class of award winners at that February 28 th banquet. We will do a new awards process next summer for the 2021 class. Obviously, many events got postponed or canceled this year. So individual recognitions will be short this year. Congratulations to John O’Leary for being exempted into the 2020 PGA Championship at Harding Park by virtue of his top 20 performance in the 2019 PGA PC! He performed admirably on what was a golf trip of a lifetime (just ask him!) Also, Joanna Coe, who was named PGA Women’s Player of the Year in 2019, qualified for the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship for the third consecutive year and will represent the MAPGA this month at Aronomink GC in Philadelphia. Good job, JoCoe! For the first time in a long while, we were not the #1 Section in returning the PGA Compensation Survey. That’s only because the PGA did not perform a survey this year due to Page 13 November 9, 2020 MAPGA Fall Membership Meeting
a technology upgrade. It will return in 2021. The Compensation survey is one of our most important tools in helping to increase compensation at area clubs, so please keep up the good work. However, our Section was still #1 in a new category this year, in % of members who filled out their Job Preferences on www.PGA.org. Around 75% of you have completed this (it takes about 2 minutes) as of press time. You must complete the preferences to receive job notices. Lastly, I think this health crisis has given us all some perspective on what is important in our lives. Something that seemed imperative in February may now seem not as important. So hug your loved ones and appreciate that our industry is a safe haven for our customers. I hope you have a strong finish to your season and please continue to do your part for your Association and our game! Respectfully submitted, Jon Guhl Executive Director Page 14 November 9, 2020 MAPGA Fall Membership Meeting
REPORT OF THE PGA DISTRICT 10 DIRECTOR Dear MAPGA Members and Associates, I hope this report finds all of you healthy and well. 2020 is going to be memorable for all of us; Covid-19, temporary facility closures, furloughed employees, new protocols and procedure changes, virtual meetings and education. Our Members, guests and clients have realized golf is a great place for exercise, relaxation and stress relief in a safe environment. We saw an increase in golf participation across the country, and this trend should continue well into 2021. Please continue to find support and guidance at PGA.org and the Back2Golf playbook The PGA has been working hard to continue to give each member additional guidance and support during these trying times. Please find below an update of PGA topics of interest. 104TH PGA ANNUAL MEETING -VIRTUAL Due to the Hartford Convention Center closing until 2021, and the general well-being of all PGA Members, Associates and Staff, the 104th PGA Annual Meeting will be virtual. Delegates should plan for the formal business session of the Annual Meeting to be held on the afternoon of Thursday, October 29, 2020, and this meeting will be roughly 3 1/2 hours in length. The normal business of the Association will take place as well as the election of the new secretary. We have four very qualified PGA Members running for Secretary; Tom Henderson, Don Rea, David Schneider and Kelly Williams. I cannot thank all of them enough for their dedication and service to our Association over the past years. The virtual format should make for an exciting election process. GOLF EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND The Golf Emergency Relief Fund was established to provide short-term financial assistance to workers in the golf industry. The PGA of America has contributed $5 million plus a $2.5 million match commitment. To date, over $7,800,00 has been awarded. The Golf Emergency Relief Fund has continued to be a great impact to workers in the golf industry with over 3,300 people receiving grants totaling over $4 million in Phase 1 and over 1,800 people receiving grants totaling over $3.6 million in Phase 2. Applications will be actively monitored as more funding becomes available. PGA DUES Please remind all Members and Associates that the Section and National dues payment deadline is coming up at the end of this month, October 31, 2020. This was extended from the normal payment date of June 30th. ASSOCIATES/PGM SCHOOLS UPDATES A task force has been formed and has been working on creating the re-application process for the PGM schools. All schools will have an opportunity to reapply. This task force, which is chaired by President Whaley, includes PGA Board of Directors (2), PGA Officers (3), PGA Staff (2), PGA Section Executive Directors (1), PGA Committees (Education & Employment), and PGA Golf Management University Directors (3). With the concern over a decline in PGA Associates and PGA Golf Management University students over the past 20 years, the following factors have been discovered as barriers to obtaining PGA membership: cost, time of completion, entrance requirements, and lack of online/virtual education. The Employment, Membership, and Education Committees have been tasked to develop and deliver workable solutions that address the removal of these ‘barriers’ to PGA membership. Page 15 November 9, 2020 MAPGA Fall Membership Meeting
New education will be created around the new PGA Learning Strategy to provide lifelong learning around specific career interests to elevate the perception, value proposition and recruitment of PGA Professionals. Thus, the three career paths offered in the PGA Learning Strategy include: Teaching/Coaching, Golf Operations, Executive Management Specific to Associates. This overall strategy will require Associates to take Level 1 “Core” coursework. Once successfully completed, they will get to choose from one of the three career path options. Level 2 and Level 3 will enable our Associates to gain a deeper understanding of the skills and knowledge required to succeed in their chosen career path. PGA Properties Update • PGA Palm Beach Gardens Office Renovation is on time and construction will be completed around the end of November. The staff should be able to start moving in early January as long as the local jurisdiction allows due to Covid-19 restrictions. • PGA Golf Club • The practice facility and Wanamaker course work has been completed and will be ready for the upcoming scheduled events • PGA Frisco Project continues to move forward and on time. Completion dates: PGA of America HQ December 2021 Golf Courses, Practice Complex and short Course June 2022 PGA Tee Times booking Market Place The PGA of America and Supreme Golf have entered into a multiyear relationship to launch a new online tee time booking marketplace: PGA Tee Times. The marketplace is slated to launch in early 2021 and will be available on PGA.com, and SupremeGolf.com This relationship gives golf course owners and PGA Professionals a new option for managing their tee sheets and inventory, and provides golfers the benefit of knowing they are getting the best rates available directly from the course. Tournament Update We are excited about the following events that will be taking place in the upcoming months: 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Oct 6 – Oct 11 at Aronimink Golf Club 32rd Senior PGA Professional Championship, Oct 15 - 18 at PGA Golf Club The 2020 PGA Fall Tournament Series will have six events scheduled for November and December. Registration will start October 14. All tournaments will be played at the PGA Golf Club 2020 National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, Nov 12 – 15, PGA Golf Club Please continue to follow all the CDC, World Health Organization and local jurisdiction requirements. Your health, your family and your customers should be your Number 1 priority. Finally, I would like to thank you, the MAPGA Board and Staff for all your hard work during this crisis. Please don’t hesitant to reach out to me if you have any questions! I hope to see all of you soon, Sincerely, John Madden, PGA Head Golf Professional - River Bend Club Past President - Middle Atlantic PGA District 10 Director - PGA of America Page 16 November 9, 2020 MAPGA Fall Membership Meeting
REPORT OF THE A-8 DIRECTOR Each year the APA in conjunction with AHEAD provides twelve $500 scholarship opportunities for Associates that are APA Members and meet certain qualifications. If you have taken any of your levels in 2020, you have the opportunity to receive any of the 12 scholarships for the highest test scores within each level amongst other APA Members. If you have completed a level this year and would like to be eligible for a scholarship, there is still time. You can still register for an APA membership and if you meet the necessary participation requirements you will be considered for a scholarship. We’ve had a good showing of APA Members in our Assistants Championship and Section Championship. These APA Members have qualified for their respective National Championships. We would like to thank the MAPGA staff for all their efforts in helping us put together this year’s tournament schedule by adding some combined events. In addition, we want to thank all of our host facility Professionals for their continued support of the APA in its educational and tournament opportunities. Specifically, the APA would like to thank: Robert Blumer- The Golf Club at Creighton Farms Craig M. Callens- Hermitage Country Club Kyle J. REPORT OF THE AWARDS COMMITTEE Unfortunately, we had to postpone our 2020 Hall of Fame & Awards Banquet given the COVID- 19 pandemic. Due to the nature of the event and with the health/safety of our professionals, award recipients, and guests as priority, we were not able to reschedule the event this year. Historically, the MAPGA has always been “early” to decide on awards (i.e., we named the Awards class of 2020 in Fall of 2019). To continue to award "early" would have created an additional layer of difficulty given the unusual nature of this year, with many pro shops closed and player development and teaching programs delayed. Thus, our Board decided to shift our awards selection period to happen during the current year (instead of a season “early”). Thus, the 2020 class will remain as this year’s class. We will begin to solicit nominations for the 2021 class in June ’21, announce the award winners in Fall ‘21, and then honor them at the Spring ‘22 banquet. At the 2021 Hall of Fame Banquet and Awards Ceremony we will honor the 2020 Award Winners in addition to honoring the 2021 Middle Atlantic PGA Hall of Fame inductees Troy Beck and Dean Hurst. The 2021 MAPGA Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet is planned to be held at Lansdowne Resort & Spa in Leesburg, Virginia on Sunday, February 28, 2021. Please plan to attend this evening of celebration for your fellow MAPGA Professionals and their families. Respectfully submitted, J.P. Lunn, PGA Chair, Awards Committee Page 18 November 9, 2020 MAPGA Fall Membership Meeting
REPORT OF THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE The highlight of the Education Committee’s activity this year was the first ever MAPGA Online Education series. These sessions provided a much-needed opportunity for professionals to stay connected and engaged with the industry during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Online Education Series was so well received that many professionals in other Sections also took part in the sessions, even professionals in other countries! A total of 19 educational sessions were hosted with 140 unique MAPGA Members participating and earning 615 valuable MSR credits. We know that normally the MAPGA Teaching Summit is an annual event for many. Given the pandemic and continued need for indoor social distancing, we have postponed the event for 2020. The Summit is currently scheduled for March 1-2, 2021 at Lansdowne Resort & Spa. As a reminder, PGA HQ has announced an extension of the MSR Cycle 16 deadline from June 15, 2021 to June 15, 2022. With that being said, it is never too early to get your MSR credits done. Continuing to educate yourself and improve as a PGA Professional should be a never- ending journey, and we are committed to providing you the best education opportunities. Building on the success of the Online Education Series, we plan to host another Educational Series during the winter months, and we need your input on what YOU want to learn. It is our goal to continue the great tradition of teaching and coaching education, but to also increase the topics that will help those of you who are running clubs and courses and need help in the business and merchandising side as well. You are not only encouraged to share your ideas, but also consider sharing your own expertise with other professionals by volunteering to host a session. REPORT OF THE EMPLOYMENT AND CLUB RELATIONS COMMITTEE The 2020 golf season is nearly over, and it was a golf season we will never see again in many lifetimes. REPORT OF THE HALL OF FAME COMMITTEE The MAPGA is proud to announce its Hall of Fame Class of 2021! Ms. Troy Beck (mostly at Glenn Dale GC) and the late Dean Hurst (Bayville GC) will join as the 54 th and 55th member of the Middle Atlantic PGA Hall of Fame early next year. Beck, 65, is entering based on her sterling playing credentials after spending her whole career at Glenn Dale GC in various positions. Troy played in 4 majors (1984 & 1985 US Open, 1994 & 1995 McDonald's LPGA Championship) and 13 LPGA Tour events. She won LPGA National T&CP Championship at Woodlands Country Club in Texas in 1994. She was named the MAPGA Women's Player of the Year four times in 1993,1994,1998, and 2003! Troy was selected as a player, and she is quite accomplished as listed above. But she also has done more than play tournaments. She served on the National LPGA Board and was an LPGA Section President (2003-07). Troy Beck Golf Academy was noted for its Junior Golf Programs. Junior Golfers played over 5000 rounds at Glenn Dale annually. Troy was recognized as the MAPGA Junior Golf Leader of the Year twice, in 1992 and 2000. She was awarded the prestigious LPGA Nancy Lopez National Award in 2008, presented to an LPGA member that exemplifies the qualities of Leadership, Passion, Giving and Approachability. She was also recognized as the LPGA Northeast Teacher of the Year in 1995. The late Dean Hurst, who passed away in 2017, was the first professional at Bayville GC in 1995 and guided the club through its formative years to the outstanding facility it is today. Dean was elected Section Secretary in 2006 and progressed through the Section chairs to become elected as Section President in 2010. Dean was selected as MAPGA Professional of the Year in 2007, the Bill Strausbaugh Award Winner in 2001, and the Horton Smith Award winner in 2003. Dean was a very popular delegate at National PGA meetings, and kept the MAPGA at the forefront with his charisma and leadership. REPORT OF THE HANDICAP COMMITTEES Virginia Handicap Report (VHP) World Handicap System With rounds posted for handicap purposes up by more than 35% in 2020, many golfers have had plenty of opportunities to use the new World Handicap System on the course this year. Some elements remain the same as before, but many are new, including the maximum hole score (net double bogey), calculation of a Course Handicap (inclusion of Course Rating minus Par in the formula) and Playing Conditions Calculation (where scores determine whether conditions impacted player performance), just to name a few. The VSGA has published several resources on VSGA.org dedicated to the WHS. We encourage you to visit and share this page with your members so they can learn more about the Rules of Handicapping. Check it out at https://vsga.org/learn/handicapping/world-handicap-system/. Staying on the topic of education, at the end of August, the deadline passed for 2020 WHS authorization. The USGA first introduced its authorization program through club licensing in 2005, as an important first step in assuring Handicap Committees across the country understood their responsibilities and were providing handicap administration and oversight in a fair and consistent manner. It also restricted the use of the handicap system to only licensed (now referred to as authorized) clubs. Club authorization continues to ensure fair and consistent administration, as well as ensuring that only authorized golf clubs are permitted to use the new World Handicap System, its formulas and marks. Every club under the handicap administration and oversight of the Virginia State Golf Association who wishes to use the WHS must be in compliance with the Rules of Handicapping and the USGA Handicap Committee Guide in order to be authorized. This includes meeting the definition of a Golf Club as well as the completion of the education requirement. The VSGA conducted six webinars in 2020, along with 10 in-person seminars in 2019, for clubs to satisfy the education requirement. We are pleased to report that, to-date, 99% of VSGA member clubs have successfully completed the program. Plans for 2021 authorization have not yet been released by the USGA, but the VSGA will keep you posted. GHIN A new GHIN platform was launched at the beginning of 2020, including a new admin site and golfer products. In the coming months, new safeguards will be put into place for golfers accessing their information through GHIN. Beginning in January, all golfers will need to create a digital profile to post scores and lookup handicaps. This will require a unique email address for members over the age of 13. Instead of logging in with a GHIN number and last name, golfers will access their information using their email address and a password. For those 13 years and younger, a new minor/guardian relationship will be created, linking an adult’s record to that of a minor. Per the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), golfers designated as minors will not be able to provide an email address, create a digital profile, or directly access GHIN golfer products. Their profile must be linked to a guardian who can post on their behalf. Be on the lookout for more information from the VSGA on this topic. MyVSGA App The MyVSGA app continues to be a useful tool for golfers in Virginia. Among the many features of the app which relaunched earlier in 2020 on an upgraded platform, is the ability Page 23 November 9, 2020 MAPGA Fall Membership Meeting
for golfers to post scores hole-by-hole and track their statistics. So far, more than 15% of all rounds posted through the app this year have been hole-by-hole. It not only allows golfers to have access to enhanced scoring data, but it also adjusts player’s scores for net double bogey. Please encourage the golfers at your club to download it from the App Store or Google Play. USGA Tournament Management powered by Golf Genius Software With its VSGA membership, your club receives access to USGA Tournament Management powered by Golf Genius Software to run club tournaments and events. Along with access, the VSGA also offers its member clubs the opportunity to schedule one-on-one training with a member of our staff. There is no cost for these sessions, and they can be tailored to suit your club in both time and topics covered. If your club is interested in scheduling an appointment with us or has any questions about training, please contact the VSGA. Other Notes As always, both the VSGA and MAPGA count on the promotion of the handicap system by our PGA Professionals and club members. As we have stated before, it is a goal of the VSGA and MAPGA to reach 100% participation with golfing members at all member clubs. It is important that we look at all golfers as potential members and do our best to bring these golfers in as members. Increasing the membership base will help grow the game in Virginia as well as help both the VSGA and MAPGA provide additional benefits and services to their members. We would like to thank you for your support of this important membership and handicap service in Virginia. If you should have any questions or suggestions, please contact Michael Walder, Director, Handicapping and Members Services, at the VSGA. Respectfully submitted, Respectfully submitted, John Madden, PGA Matthew Schulze, PGA Co-Chairs, Virginia Handicap Committee Maryland Handicap Report (MHP) MARYLAND HANDICAP PROGRAM (MHP) Thank you to the PGA Professionals and amateur golfers that enable the Maryland Handicap Program to serve approximately 38,000 golfers at 140 clubs. Operationally, the per golfer charge for the handicap service in 2021 will be $20 for the software service, $23 for the full hardware service and $10 for junior golfers. Handicaps are free-of-charge for up to three staff members, with normal rates being applied for any added staff members beyond that number. The staff credits are not applied automatically, and you will need to contact the MSGA to apply the credit for designated staff members. There is no scheduled rate increase for 2022. Thank you to all who successfully completed the World Handicap System certification process in 2020. MSGA clubs achieved a 99% certification level, compared to 97% nationally. All clubs will be required to complete an annual assessment starting in 2021. The purpose of this assessment is to ensure all clubs are compliant regarding their handicap committees and Page 24 November 9, 2020 MAPGA Fall Membership Meeting
procedures at the club. We will provide you more information when it is available. Thanks again for your support of the Maryland Handicap Program, and we look forward to a successful 2021. REPORT OF THE JUNIOR GOLF COMMITTEE Despite a slow start and numerous rescheduled events, the 2020 MAPGA Junior Golf Tour was definitely a success. Membership topped out at 590 juniors, with 404 in the Championship Division, 117 in the Patriot Division, and 66 in the Introductory Division. Due to the difficulty to run events without caddies, the Mini-Mulligans Tour was not held in 2020. This year’s Capital Cup (a Ryder Cup-style match play event of VA juniors vs. MD juniors) was won by Team Virginia. Thank you to Kevin Haney, PGA and his team at Spring Creek for hosting the event. The Billy Hurley III Junior Championship, Denny McCarthy Invitational and Kingsmill Junior Invitational continue to anchor our two-day invitational events. Due to weather, the Billy Hurley III Junior Championship was shortened to one day. Thank you to Glenn McCloskey, PGA and Loudoun Golf & Country Club for hosting. The Denny McCarthy Invitational was once again hosted by Kevin Taylor, PGA and Argyle Country Club. Finally, the Kingsmill Junior Invitational will be held October 31 & November 1. We would like to thank everyone for hosting Junior Tour events this year. MAPGA members have been generous in supporting the MAPGA Junior Tour despite limited course availability and a significant increase in their time demands. Thank you to the MAPGA Junior Golf staff members, Tasita Garcia, Jordan Koller, Jeff Santillo and JT Moore, who travel throughout the Section supporting out events. And a special thank you to our Junior Golf Director, Collin Elphic for his tireless efforts and leadership. Finally, please continue to promote and support the Tee-It-Up Scholarships. These funds allow juniors whose families are suffering financial hardships to join the MAPGA Junior Golf Tour and participate in tournaments. Respectfully submitted, Brian Liebler, PGA Robin Beach, PGA Co-Chairs, Junior Golf Committee Page 26 November 9, 2020 MAPGA Fall Membership Meeting

JLG Regional League Manager Report: I hope everyone continues to be well during this interesting time. We have been amazed with the number of players we have this year despite the COVID-19 situation. As of Wednesday, September 30th we have 35,751 players across the country. We as a team are amazed with this number and pleased with participation during this time. The Middle Atlantic PGA section had 1,587 participants and 55 facilities participating in the summer program. We currently have 280 participants in the MAPGA Fall League at 16 facilities. Due to the fact that fall high school seasons have been cancelled in Virginia and Maryland, a number of the captains have offered a Fall PGA Jr League 17u program specifically for the high school players. This is an excellent opportunity to provide practice and competitions for them during this time. We completed a Return to Golf Survey by surveying parents of registered players from last year and this year. The main result to note is that 90% of parents that responded support returning to play. MAPGA Players - 1,867 (MAPGA is currently #1 in the country) (Includes Fall Registration) MAPGA Average Number of Players Per Facility - 33 (2019 - 18) MAPGA Average Fee - $258 (2019 - $237) The PGA Coaching and Player Development team have taken this time to discuss the 2021 season and look forward to sharing more when ready. We will be offering a number of Virtual Learning Sessions and Virtual Round Table Discussions throughout the winter. Here is a list of scheduled opportunities as of September 30th.
