Rural Ambassador Award
‘To raise the profile of Agriculture and Queensland Shows’
The “Marsh Rural Ambassador Awards” is open to males and females,
 20 to 30 years of age who have a strong commitment to the rural lifestyle.
The Aim of the competition is to highlight the importance of young people in
 rural and regional Queensland.
The competition is run on four levels. The local show winner progresses to
 the Sub Chamber Final where the winner competes in the State Final which is
 held during the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA).
The winner of the State Final then competes at the National final held at
 a State Royal Show.
This is a national competition, but with New Zealand joining us in 2008, it has
 expanded to international status.

    *This Show is conducted under Dogs Queensland Rules, a copy of which may be
        perused with the Show Manager or at the Show Secretary’s Office.
    *Owners must be a Financial Member of Dogs Queensland.
    *All Dogs entered must be Purebred, Pedigreed and Registered
     with Dogs Queensland.

Advice to Exhibitors and patrons

*Traffic on Show Day: we ask that all drivers be aware of turning traffic and
pedestrians and travel at a safe speed inside and outside the grounds.

*Entry Points:
 GATE 1: Horses, Dogs, Timber Sports
 GATE 2: Pedestrians, Emergency Vehicles.
 GATE 3: Cattle, Poultry, Trade and Services. (Restricted Time Parking Zone.)

Disabled Parking: Behind Pavilion. Enter via Gate 3.
Pedestrian Access: All Gates.
                   Caution is advised during periods of moving traffic.

Bio-security and livestock movement:
*All Exhibitors of Livestock including Poultry and Pets are required to comply
 with current Bio-Security rules.

*To All Exhibitors of Livestock originating from the Cattle Tick
Protected and Free Areas:
Proston PA&H Society has an approved spray facility located within the Proston
showgrounds.
There is an approved tick control person and equipment available to undertake required
treatments for livestock exhibited on their return movement to the property origin.
To be eligible to have the approved person treat your stock you will need a Queensland
Travel Permit issued by your local stock inspector and a fully completed Queensland
Livestock Movement System – Move Easy Waybill. The Permit will be from your
property to the showgrounds and return, subject to the conditions endorsed on the permit
including: the return movement must be within 72 hours for cattle, deer and buffalo;
within 5 days for horses, sheep, goats and camelids, and that will allow for the approved
person to perform the required treatments.
Under no circumstances will the approved sprayer perform any treatment of stock unless
ALL conditions of the permit are met, and the Permit and Waybill are presented.
An alternative, is for any person who has undertaken an approved awareness course, to
treat their own stock. These people will be permitted to utilise the facilities at the grounds.
Any stock not meeting these requirements will be required to be treated by a
permanent inspector at a clearance centre.
Horse Entries must be accompanied by a completed Horse Health Declaration Form
*Payment of Entry and Nomination Fees: By Cash, or cheques or Money Orders
made payable to ‘Proston PA&H Society” or by Direct Deposit to

 *Caution: Horse Owners and Handlers: Fireworks start in the Ring
    at 7.00 p.m. on Show Day.
 *Compulsory: All competitors must fill out and sign the Horse Health
   Declaration provided.
 • Hacks, Galloways and Ponies to be measured by Measuring Steward if required.
 • Galloways 14 hands and not exceeding 15 hands.
 • All Prize Winners must take part in the Grand Parade.
 • Ponies may be ridden by adults.
 • Children competing in Rider Classes must compete in their own age group, and are
   not eligible for Adult Rider classes.
 • If a Judge considers an exhibit of not sufficient merit, no award will be made.
 • Stewards reserve the right to make additional classes if advisable.
 • District events restricted to residents of the South Burnett Regional Shire.
       Horse and riders to have resided in the district for at least 3 months prior to Show.
 • Only maiden/novice competitors can compete in the maiden/novice ring.
 • Horses may compete as either Ridden Show Horse or Ridden Show Hunter –
       You must choose not swap.
  * Winners of Maiden and Novice Classes in Rings 1 and 2 compete in either Champion
   Hack or Champion Hunter depending on which category is entered: (Hack or Hunter).
 • Horses are not to be ridden in the vicinity of the Pavilion, Liquor Bar, Side Show
  or Cattle Areas.

 CONDITIONS:
       All persons shall abide by the Rules and Regulations of this Society
 including Animal Bio-security precautions as published in the General
 Schedule, and must pay Gate Entry Fee unless provided with a current
 Proston Show Society Pass. Wrist Bands must be worn.
   1. The Society retains the discretionary right to accept or refuse entries.
        All birds must be the bona fida property of the Exhibitor.
    2. Stewards have the discretionary right to add or alter classes as deemed necessary.
        Please write variety and/or colour on the entry form. No replacement entries
        accepted.
    3. Judges to determine the merits of exhibits according to the approved Poultry
        Standards.
    4. Exhibitors may be present at the time of judging, under the direction of the Chief
        Steward.
    5. No correspondence or dispute will be entered into after the completion of judging.
    6. After the awarding of Grand Champion Fowl of Show, the reserve bird from the
        same section is eligible for Reserve Grand Champion of Show.
    7. All birds will be clean and disease-free.
    8. JUNIOR EXHIBITORS Open to children under 15 years of age. Birds should be
        selected and prepared by the Junior Exhibitor, adult supervision permitted.
    9. Junior Exhibitors MUST pen their own birds.
    10. All Birds including Junior Entries shall be the Bona Fida property of the Exhibitor.
    11. Young Judges Finals for Poultry will take place at the Toowoomba Royal Show
        in 2020. To be eligible, Finalists must have been winners at a local Show.

                                          Please Note:
         The area adjacent to the roadway around the Poultry Pavilion is a
         Restricted Parking Zone between the hours of 9.00am to 3pm.
          Would competitors please remove their vehicles outside the grounds
          by 9.30am.
         There is reserved Disability Parking Space near the Pavilion if required.
