Article 1 The association Chasseurs de Nuits, residing at 73 Bd Henri Barbusse – 93100 Montreuil - France, organizes the sixth edition of the prize « Photo Nightscape Awards » - PNA - in 2019, a free digital photography contest. This photo contest is organized in partnership with, the Photography Laboratory Picto, the ESO (European Southern Observatory), Nikon, the Pic du Midi observatory, the Maison MEDAS, The French photographic federation, the magazines Sciences et Avenir and Fisheye. Article 2 The prize is intended to reward the best nightscapes shootings (photo or timelapse) in multiple categories and fulfilling this common criteria: shootings (photo or timelapse) must represent a nocturnal landscape, composed of both heavenly and earthly elements - shootings must occur after sunset and before sunrise. Only photos and timelapses in digital format are accepted. Special attention will be given to the photographer's personal approach, his intent, his screenplay for timelapses. To participate, shootings must have taken place between: April 1st 2018 and March 31st 2019 during the same night and at the same location In order to meet the costs of organizing the PNA, a financial contribution will be requested from each participant. Each author, for €5 payable in advance, can compete with a photo or video in each category (adults can compete in all categories except the Junior category). If the photographer wishes to compete with several photos, he / she will have to pay an additional €1.50 per photo within the limit of 5 additional photos. Youngsters can participate in the Junior category only. Any and all authors (photographers) can participate, including the PNA Ambassadors, with the exception of members of the jury and of the organizing partners. Any candidat must be filed with the registration form duly completed (available on the PNA’s website) as well as the parental consent (also available on the website) for minors (-18 yo). Submission modalities (sending the photos and timelapses) are indicated in the registration form. The top 10 award-winning authors in each category will have their photo integrated into the online sales platform for photographic prints and will thus be able to benefit from a percentage on the sale of the prints of their photograph (50% of the net revenues will be donated to the author ). Article 3 Four categories are opened for this sixth edition of the PNA. - Category « Nightscape » To participate, shootings must have taken place between: April 1st 2018 and March 31st 2019 This category is opened to any and all photographer of age (18+ yo)—professional or hobbyist—from all countries. Photographers retain ownership rights to their images. Non-winning images will be deleted after disclosure of the results. Winning images will be credited as follow: Firstname Lastname - PNA. The authors assign their rights for publication of the charts, promotion price (info, exhibition, projection, portfolio...) on any suitable medium, for a period of maximum 3 years. Much attention will be given to the photographer's personal approach, its intention. - Category « In Town » To participate, shootings must have taken place between: April 1st 2018 and March 31st 2019 This category is opened to any and all photographer of age (18+ yo)—professional or hobbyist—from all countries. Photographers retain ownership rights to their images. Non-winning images will be deleted after disclosure of the results. Winning images will be credited as follow: Firstname Lastname - PNA. The authors assign their rights for publication of the charts, promotion price (info, exhibition, projection, portfolio...) on any suitable medium, for a period of maximum 3 years. Much attention will be given to the photographer's personal approach, its intention. The author will have to pay € 5 to participate in this category and € 1.5 per additional timelapse within the limit of 5 pictures. www.photonightscapeawards.com/fr/règlement-et-inscription/ Technical constraints: shooting must occur within a municipality (GPS coordinates requested) and represent a nocturnal landscape, composed of both heavenly (starry sky and/or the Moon) and (a) public or private building(s) as earthly elements. Shootings must occur after sunset and before sunrise. The shooting must take place during an unique night and at an unique location. The image will be 5000 pixels wide minimum, and will not have a watermark, credit line… Accepted formats are: jpg, tif. Any photograph representing an overall view of a town will be considered a photograph of the NightScape category. The organizer will record it as a NightScape (unless a photograph of the same author is already present in this category). - Catégorie « Timelapse » To participate, shootings must have taken place between: April 1st 2018 and March 31st 2019 This category is opened to any and all photographer of age (18+ yo)—professional or hobbyist—from all countries. Photographers retain ownership rights to their images. Non-winning images will be deleted after disclosure of the results. Winning images will be credited as follow: Firstname Lastname - PNA. The authors assign their rights for publication of the charts, promotion price (info, exhibition, projection, portfolio, ...) on any suitable medium, for a period of maximum 3 years. Much attention will be given to the photographer's personal approach, his script. The author will have to pay € 5 to participate in this category and € 1.5 per additional timelapse within the limit of 5 timelapses. www.photonightscapeawards.com/fr/règlement-et-inscription/ Technical constraints: timelapses must represent a nocturnal landscape (or urban), composed of both heavenly (starry sky and/or the Moon) and earthly elements. Shootings must occur after sunset and before sunrise. The timelapse will last between 30 and 40 seconds and will be at least in full HD. Each sequence of the timelapse must take place during an unique night and at an unique location. It will not have any watermark, credit line, nor any sound (soundtrack, sound effect…). - Catégorie « Junior » To participate, shootings must have taken place between: April 1st 2018 and March 31st 2019 This category is reserved to French youth (-18 yo). Candidacy is subject to parental or legal-tutor signed consent. Photographers retain ownership rights to their images. Non-winning images will be deleted after disclosure of the results. Winning images will be credited as follow: Firstname Lastname - PNA. The authors assign their rights for publication of the charts, promotion price (info, exhibition, projection, portfolio...) on any suitable medium, for a period of maximum 3 years. Much attention will be given to the photographer's personal approach, its intention. Article 4 Organizers reserve the rights to modify the category of a submitted picture if they consider another category best fitted. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify one or more photos if they do not respect these rules even after the deliberations of the jury. The jury for the four categories is composed as follows: - Nikon France - Michel VAISSAUD: production director for the laboratory Picto, - Olivier Las Vergnas, President of AFA - Andreina de Bei, Associate Editor at Sciences & Avenir - Corinne Thorillon: photo editor at Paris Match, - Anouk Graux, Photographic Federation of France - Gérald Vidament, Chief Editor Compétence Photo - Eric Karsenty, Editor Fisheye - Maud Potier, International wildlife photo festival The submitted photos/timelapses will be presented anonymously to the jury members. The jury’s decision is final and cannot give rise to claim. This jury is established for the 2018 edition and may be modified in all or in part for the next editions. Article 5 Prizes awarded to winners are established as follows: Catégorie "Nightscape" 1st prize: A Nikon Z6 offered by Nikon France. Maximum value 2299 euros A € 300 voucher in one of the Yellow Korner shops One year subscription to Astronomy Ireland, a value of 59 euros. One year subscription to Pixtrakk, a value of 99 euros A bag with goodies offered by ESO 2nd prize: A compass with level bubble and ladder latitude of Vixen offered by Médas worth 59 euros. An Optolong filter against light pollution, a value of 149 euros. The top ten winning photos will be showed at the 2018 PNA exhibit. A bag with goodies offered by ESO The author authorizes Chasseurs de Nuits to sell his photo as a photographic print via its dedicated online platform and to see his photograph resized so that it respects the size of the standard prints. In return, the author will receive 50% of gross sales. Catégorie "In Town" 1st prize: An admission to the Mayo dark sky Festival 1-3 november 2019 (Ireland) including all activities (excluding travel expenses) A € 300 voucher in one of the Yellow Korner shops One year subscription to Pixtrakk, a value of 99 euros A bag with goodies offered by ESO 2nd prize: A compass with level bubble and ladder latitude of Vixen offered by Médas worth 59 euros. An Optolong filter against light pollution, a value of 149 euros. A bag with goodies offered by ESO The top ten winning photos will be showed at the 2017 PNA exhibit. The author authorizes Chasseurs de Nuits to sell his photo as a photographic print via its dedicated online platform and to see his photograph resized so that it respects the size of the standard prints. A weekend trip to the Dark Sky Reserve of Alqueva, Portugal—With a value of 500 € maximum including activities, hotel … (without trip) The winner must take advantage of its price at most 9 months after the award ceremony and must contact the reserve for the organization of his arrival, within 6 months after having received his prize. Beyond these deadlines, its price will be canceled. A € 300 voucher in one of the Yellow Korner shops A 60x80cm print mounting on Aluminium with hooking bar, worth 223 euros, offered by Picto Laboratory. A bag with goodies offered by ESO 2nd prize: A compass with level bubble and ladder latitude of Vixen offered by Médas worth 59 euros. An Optolong filter against light pollution, a value of 149 euros. A 50x40cm print mounting on Aluminium with hooking bar, worth 179 euros, offered by Picto Laboratory. A bag with goodies offered by ESO The top ten winning photos will be showed at the 2018 PNA exhibit. Prizes are awarded to winners and are not interchangeable nor can be perceived in any other ways than the ones mentioned in the present regulation. No compensation will be received in cash. Article 6 The award ceremony will take place on July 19th, 2019, during the NightScapades festival in Lourdes, France. Winners will be advised by the organizers. Prizes will be available at Chasseurs de Nuits’ headquarters for one (1) year to be picked up. Article 7 Participants have until March 31st 2019 to send in their candidacy, via email* only (attested to by date of email sent), at the following address: pna@photonightscapeawards.com * because of the size of photographs and videos, it is asked to the candidates to send their duly completed candidacy (photo/timelapse, filled registration form, parental consent) via SendGB.com —a free tool usable without need to download. Only complete applications (photo/timelapse, filled registration form, parental consent) will be taken into account. Participation fees are the candidate responsibility. Participation in this contest requires candidates to comply with the present Regulation, to accept it fully and to refrain from any claim. Article 9 RIGHTS TO THE PHOTOGRAPHS: The author concedes all rights of reproduction of his photo/video and his testimonies, for the promotion (on any given media), the communication and/or advertising, and publishing related to the PNA (on any given media), to the organizer, without being entitled to financial compensation, for a period of maximum 3 years. No other use will occur without a prior written consent of the photographer. Each winner authorizes the organizer to record his picture—and to make any editing or adaptation of aforementioned picture—to be used in photographs, videos, etc… The author as well agrees to assign the rights of the photo/video, which can be used on the itinerant exhibit dedicated to the 2018 PNA edition. The organizer commits to crediting any and all reproduction of the author’s photograph as follows: 2016 © «first name last name» - PNA. Candidates pledge holding the sole rights to photographs submitted and holding legal authorization of persons and/or owners of the buildings, their lighting and their architecture, pictured in the photograph/video. The organizer disclaims all responsibility for any violation of image rights. Article 10 Organizers and partners cannot be held responsible if, as a result of force majeure or any other cause beyond their control, the operation had to be canceled or postponed. Additions or amendments to this Regulation may be published during the contest. They will be regarded as annexes to this Regulation. Candidates will be informed of any and all changes by all appropriate means. Furthermore, the organizers cannot be held responsible for delays or errors attributable to the post office or any problems with computer servers regarding Internet. Article 11 Candidates, in accordance with the Data Protection Act, have a right to access and rectify all personal information upon written request to Chasseurs de Nuits/PNA. Candidates can express their wish not to be recorded in the files of Chasseurs de Nuits/PNA and/or of partners of the event—all communication from said parties would then be prohibited.
