s&s pieck catw ag co APRIL2018 alks& M ea P class ro oms The Magpies & Peacocks Arts Education Program | Catwalks & Classrooms Magpies & Peacocks collaborates with many great design schools within their arts education and sustainable fashion program – providing raw materials, mentorship and creative support for emerging designers and essential guidance on the becoming a sustainable designer. The program gives students the opportunity to work with high quality donated raw materials from M&Ps and creatively transform these donated items as part of their curriculum. Classes include deconstruction | reconstruction and advanced product development. The program also includes an innovative sustainable design competition culminating in the Catwalks & Classrooms Showcase Event, the biggest event on our calendar, where we collaborate with artists and fashion influencers to creatively exhibit the final collections. Students receive hands-on exposure to working within the industry as well as development prizes. The 2018 Catwalks & Classrooms will take place April 19th at the M&Ps warehouse in the heart of EaDo and will feature the work of 10+ emerging sustainable designers, along with an arts market. This year’s honorees include Christena Argo Reinhard, founder of luxury reseller Union & Fifth, season two project runway winner and local designer Chloe Dao, and Jerri Duddlesten Moore, film maker and fashion designer. The event will also showcase the zerowaste collection ‘Re:ne(w) by René Garza for Magpies & Peacocks’ that debuted at London Fashion Week AW2018.
2017 Opened and closed the show for Fashion for Conservation at London Fashion Week, featured in British Vogue and TedX. Awarded an Environment Innovation Grant by Patagonia.
