2018 Head Students
 Head Boy – Zach McLachlan
Hi, my name is Zach McLachlan and I am the Head Boy for 2018. Since beginning
school here in Year 7, I have seen the school grow in size throughout the years and
have witnessed many changes that have paved the way for making the school what
it is today. I am passionate about working with people and helping them in any way I
can through service to the community.
Involvement in school extra-curricular activities is important to me and I am involved in
several clubs including the Papamoa College Enviro-Council, LEOs Club and GSA.
Outside of school, I am a member of the Papamoa IOGKF Karate Club, having trained
there for the past nine years and gaining my Black Belt in 2014. 2018 should be a busy
year filled with great opportunities and it will be exciting to see how all those
opportunities develop throughout the year.

                                    Head Girl – Izzy Whyte
Hiya, I'm Izzy Whyte and your Head Girl for 2018. Since I have been Papamoa College
right from Year 7, there have always been so many opportunities to get involved in
and to challenge myself. Whether it be through, academics, arts & culture or sports, I
believe my involvement in wider school life has really helped me to flourish and
become the leader I am today.

It has been super exciting to watch our school grow into more and more of a
community with every passing year, and I am extremely privileged to be a part of the
awesome team that is leading our journey for 2018. I'm eager to see what this year
has in store for us, and to see how we can to create more successes and unity within
both our school, and wider community!

Deputy Head Boy – Joseph Faulkner
Hi, I’m Joseph Faulkner and I am the Deputy Head Boy for Papamoa College in 2018.
I have been right through Papamoa College from Year 7 until now as a Year 13. I have
enjoyed watching the school grow and expand into what it has become today.
I am really excited to see what this year will bring, with all the new challenges and
opportunities that this role entails. As a student I am involved with a lot of extra-
curricular activities which are mainly made up of sport. I have played in the Papamoa
College 1st XI Football team for the past two years and will play again this year, I also
play in the Senior Boys Basketball team and had played in the Senior Water Polo team.
I can't wait to work with the Head Student team this year and do some great things.

Deputy Head Girl – Katherine Speidell
My name is Katherine Speidell. I’m the Deputy Head Girl for 2018. I joined Papamoa
College two years ago, and I enjoy getting involved in all the school clubs and organizing
                               fun events!
Outside of Papamoa College, I work as the CEO of One: Unique Minds and involve myself
with a bunch of volunteer events and groups including the Youth Advisory Group to the
Tauranga City Council. I also have a bunch of hobbies that take up most of my free time.
I look forward to serving Papamoa College this year!

Being the first camp out this year we kicked off the inaugural UMS
Summer Hill photo competition. Kids found beauty in many
aspects of nature and creativity came in the form of lighting and
perspective. We cannot wait for the grand final judging in about
                                           week 8. Our highly anticipated ‘barn dance’ was postponed;
however, hearts pounded and excitement rose as we played
                                           ‘Bingo’ under the setting sun.

Although we always return exhausted and filthy, camp is where
life time memories are made and life long friendships develop.
As a teacher, it is a real privilege to be a part of that and a
unique opportunity to get to know who our students really are.
This is hands down the highlight every time!

A special thanks to all of the parents who supported us by
ensuring tents, food, torches, and sleeping bags were packed,
those who provided rides to and from, our camp parents and
support crew. Without you, we could not do what we do.
