Dear Parents, Welcome to the second year of Bright Riders School and the first edition of KALEIDOSCOPE our first E- Newsletter. His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has proclaimed the year 2019 to be ‘The Year of Tolerance’ in the UAE, highlighting the UAE as a global capital for tolerance and emphasizing tolerance as a universal concept aimed at entrenching the values of tolerance, dialogue, coexistence and openness to different cultures. Keeping this in view, both students and teachers at Bright Riders, engage ourselves with a variety of activities and events which exemplifies the spirit of tolerance and dialogue. Schooling is a journey like life fraught with joys, tears, successes and failures. What sets it apart from real life is probably the presence of ever-present guiding forces, the opportunity to make lifelong friends and the confidence to laugh and cry at both ones own and others’ victories. For all of the above and much more, we need to embody a sense of tolerance and openness. Kaleidoscope as the name suggests is a medley of colourful and quirky images of students and teachers at work. Apart from being a compilation of activities, it is also a rendition of our consistent and enthusiastic efforts to embrace the universal concept of the values of tolerance, compassion and kindness. Happy Summer Vacations!!! Mrs. Deepa Shetty
First Day of School The School welcomed all students on 1st April, 2019 and marked the beginning of the new Academic year 2019-2020
Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) • Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviours, speech and nonverbal communication. • Research says autism is most influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. However, the exact causes of this condition are still unknown and is under research throughout the world. With rapid growth in number of children diagnosed each year, 2nd April is declared as World Autism Awareness day. • Autism is a spectrum disorder, each person with autism are different from each other and have distinct set of strengths and challenges. The ways in which people with autism learn, think and problem-solve can range from highly skilled to severely challenged. Some people with ASD may require significant support in their daily lives, while others may need less support and, in some cases, live entirely independently. • Indicators of autism usually appear by age 2 or 3. Some associated development delays can appear even earlier, and often, it can be diagnosed as early as 18 months. Research shows that early intervention leads to positive outcomes later in life for people with autism. Department of Inclusion

Students memorized few dialogues of the character chosen and recited in front of their peers and also used handmade props to make the character real. It was delightful to see so much creativity and an obvious love of reading. • The school looked vibrant with all the fictional characters coming alive and filling the atmosphere with thrill. Yoga Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. It is an art and science for healthy living. Yoga works on the level of one's body, mind, emotion and energy. Mindfulness is learning to be in the present. Focusing on your breath or directing your attention to the furthest sounds you can perceive is mindfulness. Mindfulness enables people to become less anxious and more relaxed. Children can become more mindful using creative and entertaining visualisation techniques. This is one of the amazing benefits of yoga in schools. Department of Physical Education
