I have been lucky enough to have been to East Africa 8 times in my life. It’s sometimes hard to explain to people how this part of the world and its people can find such an amazing place in your heart. It’s not that I want to live there (!), but seeing the animals as they have lived for thousands of years in true nature is quite something. We seem to get the greatest people to come along – soft adventure minded, animal lovers, those who appreciate the immense beauty of the savannahs and can look at majestic creatures through kind eyes. My trip is heavily about the animals. We do it very comfortably staying in 4 – 5* lodges, but it is not over the top. African 4 star is not North American 4 star – the food is fresh and delicious but it’s not gourmet. The accommodations are clean and authentic, but you’re not going to find high definition TV screens in the mirrors in your bathroom! This itinerary is quite comprehensive and really is the best of East Africa. With 5 internal flights, that believe me, save a ton of long bumpy drives, add to the overall value. Bring more photo capacity than you’d ever imagine, but remember to also see this vacation directly through your eyes, not just your camera lens, as you will have so many incredible memories. It’s a busy trip with many safaris – that promises to provide a whole bunch of highlights that you’ll talk about for your whole life. I can’t
remember big cities as well as where I’ve seen leopards, cheetah, lion, elephant and giraffe in the freedom of their lands. I hope you can join me on trip #9! Asante Sana! It was established in order to protect the endangered Rothschild giraffe, Giraffa Camelopardalis Rothschild that is found only in the grasslands of East Africa. In 1979, the Giraffe Center, a nature sanctuary for visiting and including wildlife conservation education for urban school children, was started by Jock Leslie Melville, the Kenyan grandson of a Scottish Earl, when he and his wife Betty captured two baby giraffe to start a programme of breeding giraffe on their Langata property, site of the present Centre. Tourcan Vacations undertakes to notify customers reasonably in advance through means it deems appropriate of any schedule changes resulting in the advancement or delay of the flight departure times or in case of cancellation of a flight. Whenever customers book connecting flights, they must allow sufficient time to make their connection. No control can be exercised over air carriers to guarantee flight schedules, which may be altered or affected by various circumstances. Tourcan Vacations will not be liable for any change of schedule or a missed flight connection, including any additional fees incurred and special, incidental or consequential damages (including the carriage of baggage) arising from the foregoing, whether or not it had the knowledge that such additional fees or damages might be incurred. Airport check-in: It is recommended that customers arrive at the airport check-in counter at least 3 hours prior to departure, for international flights & not less than 90 minutes prior to a domestic flight. Failing this, their reservation may be cancelled and their seats assigned to other customers, with no right of recourse. Seat assignment: unless already pre-assigned, staff at the air carrier’s check-in counter conducts aircraft seating. Other applicable conditions: Air transportation is subject to all applicable government regulations and is governed by the Montreal Convention, or the Warsaw Convention as the case may be, the applicable tariffs of the air carrier as well as the conditions of contract appearing on the airline ticket. Any amendments or changes to the applicable air carrier’s general terms and conditions of carriage once filed with and approved by federal regulatory authorities, are not subject to additional public notice and are legally binding. Refusal to transport: Removal of passengers: Tourcan Vacations shall not be liable for refusal by itself or the air carrier to transport a passenger nor for the cancellation of a reserved space or removal of a passenger due to, but not limited to, safety reasons, to prevent the violation of any applicable laws of any country or to prevent any hazard or risk to such passenger, to any other person or property, or to the flight. 14. VALIDITY OF TICKETS: Tickets are made out in the name of the customer and are not transferable. Tickets are valid only on the dates and flights indicated. Unused portions of tickets may not be used for travel on other flights and are not subject to refund at any time. 15. BAGGAGE: The safari aircraft that will ferry you to the remote conservation areas of Africa are small, lightweight planes with limited storage space for baggage. Accordingly, we advise that you choose the right luggage for your trips. Most city travel luggage is not suitable for safari planes, so you need to pack using soft-sided duffel bags. Please try that the bags have no spines, frames, or a rigid structure. Also, bring bags that have very small wheels, or preferably, none at all. When a passenger fails to adhere to the safari airline’s strict baggage policy, the airline will ask the passenger to find the appropriate bag and repack. The safari airline has the right to leave the baggage at the airline’s airport office or worse case on the tarmac in far-off parks. You can plan your luggage according to the weight allowance as follows: Small and lightweight aircraft in East Africa for Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda • Weight: 15 kg or 33 lbs • Dimensions: Maximum height: 25 cm or 10 inches, width: 35 cm or 13 inches, and length: 55 cm or 22 inches. Small and lightweight aircraft in Southern Africa for Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe • Weight: from 15 to 20 kg or 23 to 44 lbs depending on the destination. Please check with us. • Maximum height: 30cm or 12 inches, width: 25cm or 10 inches, and length: 62cm or 24 inches. • If you are carrying heavy photographic equipment, you might want to book an extra freight seat on the plane. As a result, you will have baggage allowance for two seats. Do inform your safari consultant organizing your trip well in advance. • Choose bags in whimsical colors so that it’s easier to identify your bags from a stack of other passenger bags that are typically black. • The total weight allowance includes the carry-on bags. You will be holding your carry-on bags in the lap for the duration of the flight as the aircraft do not have under-seat storage or overhead lockers for stowing bags. • Given that soft-backed duffel bags are light, you can actually carry adequate clothing and other supplies. • You will only need casual clothing for your safari tour, and since most safari camps offer laundry services, you won’t need too many clothes. Cultural norms do not permit that the staff wash underclothes. But, you can get gentle soap so you can wash them yourself. • You need not carry basic toiletries. Most of the necessary supplies you need such as shower gel, shampoo, and moisturizers are provided by the safari camps and lodges. Liability: The provisions of the Montreal Convention, or the Warsaw Convention as the case may be, the applicable tariffs of the air carrier, as well as the notice appearing on the passenger ticket and baggage check, govern the loss of and damage to baggage and establish the limits of air carrier’s liability. Baggage lost or damaged while boarding or disembarking a ship must be reported to the Purser’s office prior to the ship’s departure from port or prior to TOURCAN VACATIONS 245 Fairview Mall Drive, Suite 203, Toronto, Ontario M2J 4T1, CANADA Tel: 416 391 0334 | Toll Free: 1800 263 2995 | Fax: 416 391 0986 Emergency Cell Number: 416 301 9328

One (1) parent traveling with a child under age 18 may have to obtain a notarized letter of consent signed by the parent not traveling. Customers are responsible for checking which documents are required, and then make certain that they have the necessary documents in hand prior to departure. The carrier or relevant authorities, without further recourse or the possibility of a refund, may deny customers boarding privileges failing to provide the required documents. Entry to another country may also be refused even if the required information and travel documents are complete. No refund or replacement will be given for lost or stolen travel documents. Tourcan Vacations shall not be liable for any aid or information given by its employees or the travel agent in connection with obtaining any necessary travel documents or complying with any laws, whether given orally, in writing or otherwise, or for the consequences suffered by any customer resulting from his/her failure to obtain such documents or to comply with such laws. 17. A NOTE FROM DAVE: This will be my 9th trip to Africa. It is my “happy place” on Earth and I look forward to sharing this wonderful continent with you! What I can say, is to bring your sense of adventure and your patience. While normally things go as planned, to be blunt, Africa operates quite a bit differently than first world operations that you may be used to in Canada or the U.S. It’s not unusual to get a flat tire here and there and internal flights are also not always running on an exact clock. It’s a fabulous trip that promises to have plenty of life time memories. I am hosting quite a few trips in 2019 and 2020 and often not that easy to get hold of – but I’m more than eager to talk to you and share my experiences with you. My direct toll free number is 1-888-432-8344. If I am away, and you need immediate assistance, please contact our main office at 1-800-854-9664 and one of our travel specialists will be around to assist you.
