Recently, there was a case where a person was down with Covid and was in the hospital; a healthy and young man at the Intermittent fasting has become a fashion age of 28, but he had to stay with very minimum food because of these days; every second person is talking other reactions. Then, he got TB because the infection of TB is readily available in the air and many other infections are there in about doing intermittent fasting. Founder the air, so when your immunity goes down and you are not Shri Yogendraji always used to say that eating well, then the infection is going to take over. fasting is only for that person who overeats That's why it is very very essential to eat; not eating should be the other times; so if you are overeating, avoided; this type of fasting you can do only if you are living in a sometimes you should fast. We should be very healthy atmosphere, where you are sure that there is no able to eat everything and somehow learn to infection around you. And the day you don't eat, then you are supposed to just sit and meditate and not do the normal routine manage so that ultimately, we can stop work. So this discipline has to be followed: normal routines have overeating and have a very organised life. to be avoided and simple activities like walking or a little bit of climbing or doing some asanas taken up. A trick here is to not eat the sweet part of the meal in the end but in between with the meal or in the beginning. Over time, you Asanas like a Sukshma vyayam sort of an asana, so that's the learn what is the minimum you can eat to manage for four hours, whole point of fasting. The purpose of fasting could be to reduce when you sit for your next meal. By then, you should be really the craving for food, you see to it that no food is your weakness, hungry. You should also always have a full glass of liquid with go above that weakness for food, eat food as a beautiful thing, your meals too. and eat only that much as will help satiate your hunger and not more than that. So try and follow these rules of fasting, watching So these rules are very clear, but if a person has to eat outside the type of food you are eating, the type of mind you are having, somewhere, where the food is not that healthy or going for a and the type of activities you are engaging, all this counts when party, maybe a birthday celebration. These things can become you are fasting. very common, every Sunday for example. It does not matter if you go out to a restaurant or if you get the food from outside - after all, it is one and the same, that food is not cooked the way it is cooked in the house. This food has lots of toxins, which will be difcult for your body to handle. So whenever someone has any of such wrong food, which is not so healthy, the person should drink hot water immediately; that is the rst rule. Also, as far as possible, avoid eating outside food. Intermittent fasting means you should still follow the discipline of eating four times a day, but now you are eating only fruits and boiled vegetables, like soup and lemon juice and buttermilk. You can live on such food, eat these things every four hours. People Smt. Hansaji J. Yogendra call this fasting, but this is the healthiest food one can have. YOGA CELEBRATES LIFE YOGA UNDISTORTED By Shri Yogendraji Y oga has diagnosed the disease of mankind, it has prescribed the dose, but the patient has been hesitant. Those who have taken the dose have been cured, while the others have to face their needs and problems helplessly. It is rightly anticipated that knowledge of whatsoever nature should increase with time and experience. This has proved true with regard to material progress where science and technology are riding the crest. It is, however, ironic that this has not been so in the case of non-material aspects which instead seem to be slowly sinking to their depth. How should we explain this phenomenon? The basic fact is that while the former is aggressive, the latter is passive. The more aggressive of the two – science and technology – with unlimited potentials for good and bad thus has an edge in shufing forward with no qualms, while the other is inhibited with so many conscientious considerations. The principle of least resistance therefore acts as catalysis at the stage of application. This impassivity acts also as a gravity Board of Yoga - now International Board of Yoga - conceived by where higher efforts are involved and modern man succumbs to the Institute in 1973 has come into being, although belatedly, the line of least resistance. The Yoga Institute has some magical energy that I felt as soon as I entered the premises - I felt peaceful and my mind became calm after each day that I went there. So I decided to enroll for the 3 Months ATTC and that changed my life. I am currently teaching yoga full-time yoga and am trying to share it further. Every time when I feel low or not so good about myself, I take time to visit The Yoga Institute to feel better and happy again. Talking to Hansa ji and listening to her speak in Parisamvad is a Real eye opener; she always gives all the answers to my questions. Thank you Hansa ji and The Yoga Institute for changing people’s life through your teachings! Dr. Neha Pradeep Jethwani Student from Yoga Therapy Course I would like to thank The Yoga Institute and Taruna Ma’am for arranging this course. I gained tremendous clarity regarding yoga therapy from it. Just as the four walls of a home protect us from the world outside, so do the four pillars of yoga, i.e, ahar, vihaar, achar and vichar, protect us from the inside. We can apply these four pillars and balance our lives well. The imbalance of these four aspects only invites unwanted diseases into our body. Taruna Ma’am has explained these things very well to us. Because of this course, I cannot only improve my own lifestyle but also guide other people to improve theirs. By completing this course, my condence has increased and so has my responsibility towards using yoga more effectively in life. 23 YOGASATTVA
TESTIMONIALS Asha Choudhary, Sadhaka The Yoga Institute is a fantastic place to learn yoga and teaching techniques from. The teachers are amazing and knowledgeable and the support of Hansa Maa is commendable. She is always there with you any time of the day you need her. I highly recommend The Yoga Institute Mumbai. Sheetal Rajeev Joshi, Sadhaka My very rst spark of my love for yoga started with my teacher where I was just a regular student in her class. The real transformation and growth is happening now with my continuous connection with The Yoga Institute. Little did I know that my basic 200hour TTC journey would completely change my mindset. This course and the institute teachers not only taught me how to teach, but how to deepen my own practice and live yoga. The instructors go deep into traditional and meditative aspects of yoga and till date they are willing to answer my questions to help me make my practice better. I can say without a doubt that I have been given a wonderful foundation to go out and grow. Hansa Maa you truly are an inspiring teacher, my guru and Maa. Grateful Ruby Kanchghar, Sadhaka I was always drawn to tness and I am also an U-19 Women's mumbai team trainer. My quest brought me to the gates of the Yoga Institute, Santacruz, India. I started learning this ancient technique and began to experience the benets of it through a now calm body and mind. The body became supple, the mind calm and the soul felt free. The asanas are not as complex and difcult as it seems. From The Yoga institute I learned that there is a step by step process to achieve the maximum exibility. I went on to do the Teachers Training Course so that I could pass on the benets to my students. The Yoga Institute teaches you more than just tness, it teaches you life. 24 YOGASATTVA

Shri Yogendraji - Father of modern Yoga renaissance To become a yogi, one has to be self-reliant by educating oneself so that one’s principles are not given up. A man who depends on others for his living cannot be a yogi. Self-reliance comes by reducing his needs to the minimum. Even animals live for themselves and are not dependent on the government. Human beings increase their needs and worry a lot. One has to be perfectly healthy. This is part of yoga technology. An irresponsible man cannot be a yogi. Today, an average man is heavily dependent. He is dependent even for his health on specialists. The Yogi is always in harmony with the outside world. He has no capacity to change it. He rather tries to create an environment within his mind by training or technique. The same harmony that he possesses within himself he tries to maintain outside. It takes a balanced and stable mind to break the vicious cycle of action and reaction.
