Year 11 Home Learning Guide for Parents Spring Term 2021
Introduction Thank you for the continued support you are providing in supporting you daughter through this period of home learning. As you know, BGGS teachers are working hard to ensure that the planned curriculum continues to be taught through a combination of live teaching and the provision of learning resources available on-demand. You should have received an information sheet with some guidance on creating the right environment at home to support home learning. This booklet provides more information about topics being studied during the Spring term (05/01/2021 – 26/03/2021) with some subject specific guidance on how you can help if you are supporting your child to learn remotely. If you have any queries at all relating to home learning or need some further support, please contact Mrs Howarth, Vice Principal at your earliest convenience rhowarth@bggs.com Art Subject Content Spring Half Term 1 Spring Half Term 2 Component 1- Wrapped tied and Twisted- Final outcome which addresses A04 in medium of Focused mind map choice Artist research of choice Primary sources and contact sheet Secondary sources presented Initial experimentation with media using sources as inspiration A02 and A03 Compositional studies- 3 x pages in fine line and pencil media Final design Colour trials and media for final design How parents/carers can help Each week students should attend the live session where the teacher presents a powerpoint which states the learning objectives and the class tasks. Teacher demonstrations may take place and videos watched during the session. Each lesson has an appropriate time given to ask questions and then to leave the meeting and continue with tasks independently. Tasks are set as assignments which can be viewed, and the due date is clearly stated. Some assignments have specific rubrics and assessment criteria attached to them which feeds into the awarding of a grades from 1-4 (4 is excellent, 1 is poor). Finished completed work should be uploaded through assignments so written feedback can be given. This requires students taking a photograph of their work with a mobile device and sending this image to their OneDrive so they can then upload to assignments. Within Class Notebook, both the task and the powerpoint can be accessed through clicking on the link if students are unable to attend live session. Useful Resources Students should email their teacher if they require any resources to be printed out if this is necessary to present work within the sketchbook or develop ideas from. Links to useful videos to watch or tutorials are always embedded into powerpoints where appropriate. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/subjects/z6f3cdm https://www.studentartguide.com
