TIME TO REVIEW Now is a great time to review where you are at! What is my Semester 1 Report telling me? What are my teachers saying at the VCE Parent/Teacher Interviews? Have I reviewed my MIPS Plan online? – now is a time to reset my goals for semester 2. What are my Work Habits Ratings telling me? It is important to set some goals of improvement for my work habits. Why?
ANALYSIS OF VCE RESULTS Summary Work habits are correlated with ATAR scores. Students with high ATAR scores have high work habits. High Work habits correlate with satisfactory completion of all VCE subjects. High Work Habits are a valued guide for employers to consider for apprenticeships or part time work

2020 – OPTIONS YEAR 12 Satisfactory completion of the VCE requires: 16 units with 3 units of English including Unit 3&4 English and at least 4 Unit 3&4 sequences. Students who have not satisfactorily completed 8 Unit 1&2 subjects (including ONE unit of English) will be required to attend an interview about undertaking Year 12. Students who are doing training outside of school e.g. McDonalds Certificate II in Retail operations may receive credit towards their VCE. Bring certificate/competencies in to Careers Students need to have a minimum Work Habits Rating of 3.0

2020- OPTIONS Selection Criteria for entry to SENIOR VCAL Entry to the Year 12 Senior Certificate Level is based on performance in Year 11. Students must meet the following requirements for promotion interview: Be a current Year 11 student at Sunbury College Satisfactory completion of current VCAL or VCE program Have a vocational interest and willingness to participate in a VET Subject Minimum Work Habit Rating of 3.00 in Semester 2 of the current year A demonstrated commitment to improving their Literacy and Numeracy skills Minimum of 90% attendance at class, TAFE and work placement. Organisation and participation in Structured Workplace Learning Completion of MIPS online to a high standard

2020- OPTIONS – VCAL EXTERNAL • At TAFE or other providers – Kangan Institute, Harvester College, VU College, SEDA, CAE • You would undertake a Senior Level Certificate • Need to consider costs, need to travel and Vocational Component • Year 11 passes will contribute
2020 – OPTIONS - TAFE • Pre-apprenticeship as a preparation for an apprenticeship usually a Certificate II • Certificate level I – III e.g. Certificate III in Children’s Services • Where will I go? How do I apply? Need to research all this and more about the next step • Will it take all year? (Hairdressing pre-app 9 weeks) & where do I go next?
2020 - OPTIONS • FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT – JOB/APPRENTICESHIP/TRAINEESHIP • When do I turn 18? • Drivers Licence - getting up your hours • Job prospects? • Am I ready? • How good do I look on paper? • Labour Market Information to consider: • National Unemployment Rate May 2018 = 5.4%
2020 - OPTIONS • Employment Advice – Getting a full/part time job • Look at how well you interview • Dress (inappropriate dress / jewellery/ markings) • Speech – how you answer questions • Are you prepared for tests/group interviews/the sorts of questions • Can you shake hands / introduce yourself. • Networking – 70% of all jobs are due to networking, talking to industry representatives, attending career expos, using the help of friends, family – start to develop your networks!
DEVELOP YOUR PROFILE Voluntary community service activities where you have given a significant amount of time to assist others on a regular basis, over an extended period of time is highly considered Social justice/community service/community group activities School leadership and/or service roles Parish or church group activities Sporting or cultural/performing arts group activities where you contributed to the organisation or running of the activities or to coaching/tuition Consider participation as a volunteer. It will help develop your employability skills!

Read it taking particular note of pages 8 & 9 to put together a plan This guide and further developing your MIPS Plan will ensure you are heading in the right direction!
