Message from the Deputy Head (Achievement & Progress)

Dear Year 10 Pupils

This booklet has been produced to help you with your planning for your GCSE
exams in 2022.

The booklet will not guarantee you the highest grades, but with forward planning and
a revision timetable which you stick to, it will ensure that you are well prepared and
therefore confident in each exam.

The booklet will also guide you to helpful resources and the names of exam boards
and their websites where you can find past papers and detailed topic lists. If you find
anything which you are unsure about then you must ask your teachers for help, they
are there to support you.

At the end of the booklet, you will also find two blank revision schedules which can
be used to help structure your revision.

We look forward to supporting you to achieve everything you hope for in your GCSE
exams in 2022.

Yours faithfully

John Reardon

Personal 100% June Beginning in September 2020, pupils will begin to develop
Portfolio 2022 a personal portfolio of work based on a theme provided by
the Art Department. Pupils will study a range of artists from
different times and cultures, and will learn to independently
research, plan and develop exciting and original ideas and
                                          outcomes.

grade. Pupils study a range of artists from different times
and cultures. Pupils need to have evidence they have met
                                          the 4 assessment areas:

AO1: DEVELOPING IDEAS & RESERACHING THE
                                          WORK OF OTHERS 25%
Evidenced through developing ideas from a starting point
to a final piece. This is done through mind-mapping,
sketches and studies related to the work of other artists,
designers and craftspeople. Pupils will need to analyse and
understand these contextual sources, and develop their
                                          ideas in a personal way.

                                          AO2: REFINING AND EXPERIMENTATION 25%
Evidenced through refining ideas through selecting and
                                          experimenting with appropriate resources, media,
materials, techniques and processes. There are various
ways of using these to develop ideas and create a
                                          personal response.

AO3: RECORDING 25%
Evidenced through the recording ideas, observations and
insights, which can be in visual, written and other forms.
Pupils should work from a range of sources and explore
different ways of developing their ideas. They should
reflect upon their work, and consider what they have
achieved at each stage and what you will do next.

                                      AO4: PRESENTING A FINAL OUTCOME 25%
Evidenced through presenting personal, informed and
meaningful outcomes, from initial research through to the
final piece. Pupils will need to demonstrate analytical and
critical understanding as they respond to their theme.
