Introduction Wyndspelle, the sire of future champions. With an extraordinary ability to lower his body in the straight, extend his powerful stride and take off, Wyndspelle is described to have an irresistible burst in the race. His clinical execution sees him flying past his peers with ease, adding the Gr.1 Captain Cook Stakes to his expanding racing career in an impressive display of both speed and class. Confident, Wyndspelle raced at Gr.1 level against the best performers in Australia and New Zealand. Now placing that energy in standing as a sire, Wyndspelle is exerting his bulletproof demeanour and favourable race acumen to produce his own desirable winning progeny. Standing proudly at 15.3hh, Wyndspelle is the 10th Gr.1 winner by Iffraaj. His dam, Western Star has produced two race-winning progeny, “A warhorse with great both performing at Group level in Australia, constitution, always gave 110 with two more fillies in the wings. Wyndspelle has all the attributes to sire the next generation percent. A pleasure to train.” of racing legends. - New Zealand trainer Johno Benner JEN CAMPIN BLOODSTOCK LTD
Horse Pedigree DAM PEDIGREE Western Star (NZ) 2007 By High Chaparral, Western Star retired a winner at 1400 and placed 3 times from 5 starts. Western Star is from a family littered with 2yo stakes performers. She is the dam of two group performers in Wyndspelle and her filly Selica (by Makfi), trained by Philip Stokes who placed second in the Gr.3 Auraria Stakes. Western Star’s dam Alberton Star (by Stylish Century) was a precocious group winning juvenile who produced eight winners, including Gr.3 winner Lady Alberton and listed winner Alberton Park. Western Star’s second dam is Alberton Lass, the dam of seven winners, three at black type level including Gr.2 winner Sir Alberton. Alberton Lass is the great-granddam of Gr.1 Doncaster Handicap (1600m) winner Brutal. Brutal currently stands at Newgate Farm in Australia at a fee of A$27,500 incl GST. Western Star’s line breeding to the most influential Sadler’s Wells / Nureyev Cross is a feature of Wyndspelle’s mating, retaining the Danehill free aspect for family divergence. The Iffraaj bloodlines are complimentary and clear through his instant success as a sire of 2yo’s in the Northern Hemisphere, which included Champion French 2yo Colt Wootton Bassett. SIRE PEDIGREE Iffraaj (GB) 2001 Wyndspelle’s sire is a proven International Gr.1 sire. As well as Wyndspelle, Iffraaj is the sire of Classic winning fillies, Derby-winning colts, sprinters, milers and WFA performers. Iffraaj has proven himself as an extremely versatile stallion. A winner at two, he went on to win the time-honoured Wokingham HCP in 1:08.74 and the Gr.2 York Park Stakes 7F in 1:21.98. Being a son of a Champion European 2yo and 3yo from the Mr Prospector sireline and a grandson of Gr.1 Moyglare Stud stakes winner Park Appeal, suggested he very much suited Western Star’s family profile. “Wyndspelle is an incredible horse really - so tough and with outstanding talent. For a horse who had already raced at the top level as a 2yo and 3yo, he was amazingly sound and robust as a 4yo when Dad was training him. By a world- class sire and from a terrific family - I’m sure he will succeed in the stallion barn.” - Former Australian trainer Michael Kent Jnr.
