Safe. Clean. Reliable.
     • There is no greater priority than public and employee
safety. It guides everything we do.
     • As a publicly-owned generator, we strive to contribute to
the well-being of our host communities.
     • The power we generate is more than 90% free of smog and
       carbon emissions.
     • OPG’s electricity is about 40 per cent less expensive than
the average of all other ON generators.
     • Helps reduce overall cost of electricity for Ontarians while
our profits return to the Province.

         generating capacity and over 5,000
         employees

     • OPG Nuclear Facilities

           • Pickering – 3, 100 MW
           • Darlington – 3,512 MW

Benefits of Nuclear
      • Ontario phased out coal plants in 2014 (remains North America's
        largest climate change action initiative)

      • Today, 60% of Ontario electricity comes from non-emitting nuclear
        energy:

            •Clean – zero carbon emissions.

            •Safe – excellent safety record.

            •Reliable – always available.

•Low cost – OPG price is 40% lower than other generators.

      • OPG has 45 years’ experience of safely processing and storing
        nuclear waste

      • OPG is committed to continuing nuclear in the province, by investing
in Pickering NGS and Darlington Refurbishment

Responsible Nuclear Waste
      Management
      • OPG is committed to finding long-term solutions to the
nuclear waste from the Darlington, Pickering and Bruce
        nuclear sites

      • In 2005, OPG submitted a proposal to regulators, to build a
DGR at the Bruce nuclear site

      • The DGR would safely store low- and intermediate-level
waste 680 metres (2,230 feet) underground in ancient, dry,
        stable rock

      • The DGR is three times deeper than Lake Huron –and far
        below any groundwater

      • Municipality of Kincardine is a willing host community

Electrification
OPG is investing in energy assets to support electrification, reduce
emissions, and increase use of off-peak resources.
Our solutions help customers manage energy costs, provide resiliency, and
 make electrification simple.

1. Making Electric Vehicle (EV) charging in Ontario easy, seamless, and
reliable for EV drivers through networked public fast charging and
   other services.

2. Enabling fleet and transit electrification by providing energy
infrastructure including chargers, storage, controls, and
   management.

3. Exploring opportunities to become a supplier of clean hydrogen for
   transportation.
Gas
      • In July 2019, OPG entered into a purchase agreement with
affiliates of TC Energy (formerly TransCanada Corporation) and
          Canadian Utilities Limited

      • Subject to customary closing adjustments and standing regulatory
approval, OPG will now have full ownership of:
             • 100% ownership of Napanee Generating Station (900 MW)
             • 100% ownership of Halton Hills Generating Station (683 MW)
             • Remaining 50% ownership of Toronto’s Portlands Energy Centre
               (50% of 550 MW)
             • Remaining 50% ownership of the Brighton Beach Generating
               Station ( Canadian Utilities Limited)

      • Future profits generated from these assets will stay in Ontario for
        the benefit of Ontarians

p20
Isotopes
      • Since 1940’s Canada has been a global leader in producing
        isotopes

      • OPG currently produces Colbalt-60, Deuterium, and Tritium

      • In as early as 2020, Darlington Nuclear will be the only source
        of Molybdenum-99 in North America

      • Radioisotopes are used for screening, diagnosis and therapy
        of various medical conditions

      • OPG’s subsidiary, Canadian Nuclear Partners, is investigating
the production of new isotopes such as:

          • Helium-3 and
          • Plutonium-238
          • Helium-3
