BORN IN OREGON P E ND L E TO N: T HE O RIG INAL OREGON MAKER When master weaver Thomas Kay left England to seek new opportunities, he brought a passion for innovation and exploration to the Oregon territories in 1863. Kay established several mills in Oregon, and laid the foundation for the weaving legacy that would be carried on by his daughter, Fannie Kay Bishop, when she encouraged her sons to establish Pendleton Woolen Mills in 1909. Six generations later Thomas Kay’s descendants are continuing this legacy, which remains a family-owned and managed business: Pendleton Woolen Mills. Our Northwest mills continue the tradition of quality, innovation and industry. SUSTAINABILITY P E NDL E TON’S COMMITMENT TO SU STAINAB ILITY Our customer is concerned about sustainability. As a predominantly wool-based company, we have an advantage over the common fast- fashion company. Wool is a natural fiber that is breathable, durable, long wearing, and biodegradable. For more than 10 years we have produced our Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool® blankets and fabric which are Cradle to Cradle Certified™ by MBDC, an organization that works with companies to intentionally design products which eliminate the concept of waste, use clean energy, value clean water and celebrate diversity. With our multi-generational relationships with wool ranchers in the Northwest, we are able to source almost half of our wool from USA growers, decreasing the transportation of raw materials in our supply chain for our wool products. Our wool textiles are dyed, spun, woven, and finished in Washougal, Washington, and Pendleton, Oregon, resulting in a small transportation footprint. P E ND L E TO N FABRIC S VIRGIN WOOL (VS.
