COURSE CONTENT PPT courses are designed for those persons who wish to gain entry level qualifications into the Aviation Industry as a Commercial Pilot and be employed in a flight operations role. It includes the commercial pilots licence, the multi–engine command instrument rating and the multi - engine aeroplane class rating. Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) authorises you to conduct both private and commercial operations under the Visual Flight Rules (VFR). This licence also allows you to co-pilot in any aeroplane and become the pilot- in-command for aeroplanes under 5,700 Kg. For more information visit: https://www.casa.gov.au/sites/g/files/net351/f/_assets/main/lib100191/getting-your-commercial-pilot- licence.pdf Multi Engine Aeroplane Class Rating (MEA), during this training you will learn the specific skills required to safely and accurately operate a twin-engine aeroplane. You will need this rating to work in most charter operations and in the airlines. While each heavy twin engine aeroplane requires a specific type endorsement, the skills mastered during your initial class rating will equip you to quickly transition to other aeroplane types. The Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating (ME (A) CIR) allows you to fly under the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). This rating is a must for any Commercial Pilot seeking to work in the modern aviation industry. Flying under the IFR provides you with the flexibility and skills to depart and arrive at aerodromes when the weather conditions are less that those required for operations under the Visual Flight Rules (VFR). A Pathway to a Bachelor of Business at Southern Cross University Completion of the Commercial Pilots Licence and multi-engine instrument rating qualifies PPT graduates for a grant of one year of advanced standing into the SCU Bachelor of Business. For more information please contact PPT use this link http://courses.scu.edu.au/courses/bachelor-of-business/2016 A pilot with a Management / Aviation Degree is a great asset to any aviation operator as it provides them with a broader dimension of employability in different roles. For the pilots a management degree provides a second career option if they want to diversify later in their life. The SCU Bachelor of Business can be completed via distance education or on campus at Coffs Harbour. The Institute of Small Business Studies in Port Moresby is affiliated with SCU and can assist with your enrolment and studies which may commence up to eight (8) years after graduation from PPT \\SERVER1\80 Document\89 Attach & Forms\Admin(D)\DA12.4C026.407 Airline Pilot Course Flyer.docx Document Owner: CEO Classification: Public Version: 102 Effective Date: 190311 Page 2 of 8 Attachment: DA12.1C026.407

DURATION AND HOURS 1. Commercial Pilot Aeroplane Licence and Multi Engine Class Rating This course is delivered between 50 - 62 weeks with a minimum face to face classroom instruction time of 20 hours per week over a five day week. The course includes a minimum of 225 hours of single engine dual (125) flying instruction and solo flight (100), plus 25 hours of dual multi engine flying instruction and 5 hours of dual synthetic flight training. Plus face to face theory instruction for all subjects for the CASA examinations. For the final assessment students will be tested for the Australian Commercial Pilot License which is issued by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). Please note that as relevant sections of the course are completed and when recommended by the Chief Flying Instructor (CFI) students may sit for the Australian Private Pilot Licence Flight Test. 2. The Multi Engine Instrument Rating This course is delivered over 18 weeks with a minimum face to face classroom instruction time of 20 hours per week over a five day week for all subject areas required for the CASA Instrument Rating Theory Examination. The course includes a minimum of 35 hours of dual multi-engine flying instruction and test time; 20 hours of dual synthetic flight training. Students who complete their training will be eligible to sit the CASA Instrument Rating Theory Examination (IREX) and the Multi Engine Instrument Rating Flight Test. 3. A comprehensive list of all Flying Hours, Equipment and Training is published in the DA12.4C027.407 List of Contract Inclusions. HOW THE COURSE IS DELIVERED 1. Aviation Theory Training. Flying instructors approved by the CASA will deliver face to face classroom instruction using lessons, lectures, workshops, tutorials, and case studies. 2. Practical Flight Training is given by CASA approved flying instructors in aeroplanes and synthetic flight trainers. The flight training is designed to develop the required practical skills and to integrate the student’s ability to simultaneously perform flying skills and apply the aeronautical knowledge. On a daily basis students are individually programmed to attend aviation theory training or practical flight training. Generally two days of the week are set aside for theory training and the other three days are allocated to flying. The mix of theory and flying days will vary in response to the weather conditions. When the weather is not suitable for flying on a scheduled flying day, then the programme will be changed and students will attend aviation theory lessons in the classroom; and then a day that was set aside for theory, will be reallocated to flying. Students receive course induction and basic theory training in a full time classroom environment during the first three weeks before intensive flying training commences. Students complete an average of three flights each week. The flying lessons are integrated with the theory training. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has mandated a process of integration that requires the theory to stay in phase with the flying training and the flying training to stay in phase with specific topics in the theory training. Students may not attempt a licencing flight test unless they have passed the appropriate CASA theory examinations. Because of the time needed for the total airborne training, administration, pre and post flight checks plus refuelling, and the after pre-flight briefings; a one hour flight will take longer than one hour. The following time frame will be scheduled for each one hour flying training; 1 hour of dual flight instruction = 3.5 hours of course time 1 hour of solo flight = 2.5 hours of course time 1 hour of dual synthetic flight training = 2.0 hours of course time Assessments: Assessments will use the format nominated by the CASA for the Commercial Pilot Licence. Flight Test and the CASA Command Instrument Rating Flight Test. Together these tests complete the assessments for every unit because the theory must be complete before the flight tests can be taken. \\SERVER1\80 Document\89 Attach & Forms\Admin(D)\DA12.4C026.407 Airline Pilot Course Flyer.docx Document Owner: CEO Classification: Public Version: 102 Effective Date: 190311 Page 6 of 8 Attachment: DA12.1C026.407
