eg... Music Wayward Jane Auditorium Wayward Jane’s music interprets American folk and Old Time traditions, blending roots music with fresh arrangements and original compositions. Their rich sound features fiddle, clawhammer banjo, double bass, guitar, wooden flute and close vocal harmonies. Their live shows have a joyful energy and range in mood from high octane, toe-tapping tunes to tender and soulful songs. ...Music Breabach Auditorium One of Scotland’s most exciting and successful folk groups with six albums under their belt, a multitude of awards and a consistently full international touring schedule, Breabach look set to build upon the huge successes of their first 15 years performing together. The band started their 2020 anniversary year by teaming up with Glenturret, who distilled a special single cask 15 year-old single malt in celebration. They then headed off to Australia to perform at the iconic Sydney Opera House. Celebrations continued with a UK wide tour through February and March before the world became a very different place. Breabach unites the talents of Megan Henderson (fiddle, vocals), James Lindsay (double bass, vocals), Calum MacCrimmon (bagpipes, whistle, bouzouki, vocals), Conal McDonagh (bagpipes, whistle) and Ewan Robertson (guitar, vocals, cajon). “As polished as it was passionate, matching fiery intensity with exquisite finesse, this was a magnificent set.” The Scotsman HHHHH Fri 4 March 7.30pm £18 for more information visit www.eastgatearts.com 5

Music and Words Tae Sup Wi’ A Fifer Auditorium Tae Sup Wi’ A Fifer is a club night hosted and programmed by James Yorkston and featuring three varied and complimentary talents from different global avenues of folk, rock, indie and spoken word. This, the first tour since the start of lockdown 1 features a performance by James, the legendary gentleman-songwriter of the East Neuk of Fife musicians, Kris Drever, winner of multiple awards including an incredible seven BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and Rachel Sermanni, Scottish folk-noir balladeer whose voice was described by the NME as “Unnervingly pretty and graceful” as well as Salena Godden, writer and poet, “doyenne of the spoken word” BBC Radio 3. “Tae Sup wi' a Fifer has provided some memorable nights for me,” says James. “Choosing the artists is something I love to do, providing varied, unique evenings.This first line-up of the series contains some of my favourite artists, all Tae Sup veterans, all very special.” The Eastgate is one of only four venues selected for this tour which also travels to Shetland, Inverness and St Andrews. It is the first of a series of three tours with the next one arriving in Peebles in June.
