Elementary/Intermediate Wind Chamber Music Saturday 25th July - Saturday 1st August 2020 The Elementary/Intermediate week is aimed at players from Grade 3 to Grade 8 standard. The week will focus on improving your chamber music skills and encouraging confidence in small ensemble playing. There will be daily warm up sessions which focus on skills needed to play chamber music and coached small ensemble sessions. Groups will be allocated as far as possible in like/similar graded ensembles. Time will be made for DIY ensembles and individual practice. The week will end with an informal performance of music worked on during the week. This will be a sharing of music with the aim of each participant improving their chamber music skills via own personal goals during the week. Advanced Wind Chamber Music Monday 3rd - Monday 10th August 2020 This course is aimed at advanced players of post grade 8 level, with chamber music experience. The focus of the course will be a short daily warm up followed by 3 tutored sessions daily and opportunities to form your own groups for ad hoc sessions. The week will culminate in an informal performance to each other to bring the week to a close. The aim of the course is to learn core wind chamber music to a high standard in a friendly setting. PRICING: 1030€ - Single Room 825€ - Shared Twin Room 825€ - Cubertou Bell Tent (sole occupant) 730€ - Bring your own Tent/Van - own tent places are limited and on a first come, first served basis. CUBERTOU Cubertou is an old Farm in South West France in the Lot region. The forests to the south of Cubertou stretch up to cliffs that drop steeply to the Lot river. The meadows to the north of Cubertou swoop down to the Theze Valley which provides rich soil for maize, sunflowers, vines and other crops. The address is ‘Cubertou’, 46700 St Martin Le Redon, France. Cubertou is NOT in the village but on the other side of the D673. The track to Cubertou is opposite a house with a white boundary fence, north east of the two roads into St Martin Le Redon. Travel to Cubertou Please note - that due to the rental of Cubertou for the Chamber Music Weeks, check in time is 6pm on the first evening. Departure for all participants is by 10am on the final morning. If coming by train your destination will be Monsempron Libos, which is 15 mins drive from Cubertou. There is no car hire from ML and no Taxi rank, you would need to arrange a Taxi in advance. We can link participants travelling by train in advance of the course so that you can pre book a shared taxi to and from Monsempron -
Cubertou. We are happy to help you book a taxi and there is a permission box in the booking form to tick so that we can link you with other players. It is best to do an internet search with ‘cheap flights to Bordeaux’ or ‘cheap trains to Monsempron Libos’ and you’ll get lots of options. Seat 61 , Rail Europe, Eurostar, Captain Train and The Bahn are sites for train travel that have been recommended. Two Together rail card is useful if you book your travel early and are travelling with another. Ryanair, Jet2, EasyJet, Flybe and British Airways offer flights to Bergerac, Bordeaux, Toulouse and Carcassonne. For both train and air travel there are early booking discounts and occasionally late booking discounts, but in general it is advisable to book early. We also recommend taking out travel insurance in the event of you having to cancel your trip. Please check out the various Travel Options below in order to find the best value travel for you. Please also check for restrictions, for example how much you might need to pay to keep larger instruments in the cabin/luggage rack, BEFORE you book your flight or train. Travel Options include: • Train to Agen – train to Monsempron Libos • Flight to Toulouse – shuttle to station – train to Agen – train to Monsempron Libos • Flight to Bordeaux – shuttle to station – train to Agen – train to Monsempron Libos • Flight to Carcassonne – shuttle to station – train to Agen – train to Monsempron Libos • Flight to Bergerac – transfer from Bergerac via taxi - this can be booked in advance, or on stand at the airport and shared with others. Price €210 (on stand prices estimated €145 dependant upon traffic at based on two people sharing. This price will be adjusted if more people are flying to Bergerac. Travelling by Air If flying to Toulouse, Bordeaux or Carcassonne you can take a shuttle bus (Navette) to the station and then a train to Monsempron Libos, via Agen. Please be aware that airport websites can be optimistic with regard to shuttle times between airports and stations… we recommend you double any timings suggested by the airports. If flying to Bergerac, public transport towards Cubertou is extremely limited but it is possible to hire a car from Bergerac which is 1 hr drive from Cubertou. It is also possible to travel by taxi (see details above). Travelling by Car If coming from the UK the shortest drive is to take a ferry to St Malo then drive towards Bordeaux and head east towards Cubertou via Bergerac. If taking a ferry to Calais the drive is longer, head south along the A21 then west towards Cubertou via Gourdon. The address is ‘Cubertou’, 46700 St Martin Le Redon, France. Car Hire Car hire is available at Toulouse, Bordeaux, Bergerac and Carcassonne airports and also from Fumel (Nr Monsempron Libos) – via Expedia. APPLICATIONS, DEPOSITS AND FINAL PAYMENTS: Please apply via the online booking form for both courses. Courses are filled on a first come, first served basis and the course tutors reserve the right to limited places for each instrument to ensure a balance of players. If we are able to offer you a place, then we will require a non refundable deposit of €250 within in two weeks to secure your place. The balance of payment will be due by 31st May 2020. Please make sure you take out comprehensive insurance to cover you against cancellation for any reason. We are unable to refund for
cancelled places post 31st May 2020, unless a full paying replacement is found. Ts&Cs for Course Attenders 1 Booking BOOKING FEE/DEPOSIT 1.1 A non-refundable deposit of €250 is payable on confirmation that a booking has been accepted. On receipt of the booking charge you shall be sent email confirmation. This constitutes formal acceptance of your booking. 1.1.1 Payment of the booking charge must be received within 14 days of email acceptance of the booking. If payment is not received by this date, your place cannot be guaranteed on the course. BALANCE 1.2 The balance of the Course Price is by 31st May 2020. If payment is not received by the due date, the course director (Sarah Watts) reserves the right to give you notice that the booking is cancelled should another applicant be on the waiting list. 1.4 Bookings made within six weeks of the start of the course start date require full payment on confirmation that the booking has been accepted. 2 Cancellations 2.1 If you cancel a booking: 2.1.1 The of Course Deposit of €250 WILL NOT be reimbursed. This is due to the financial risk taken on my the course director for the rental and associated costs of running the courses. 2.1.2 Reimbursement of any value of the remaining 75% of the Course Price that has been paid to the courses is dependant upon a full replacement participant being found and at the discretion of the course director. N.B. It is strongly recommended that you arrange a comprehensive travel insurance policy - including cancellation cover - and have full cover for personal belongings, since these are not covered by the courses. 2.2 If the course is cancelled by the course director:
2.2.1 If the cancellation is with respect to the 75% balance of the Course Price not being paid within the required time then the same terms shall apply as if you had cancelled the booking. Therefore all clauses in section 2.1 would apply. 2.2.2 In the unlikely event of the course director (Sarah Watts) cancelling a booking, other than clause 2.2.1, then all payments that have been made with respect to the Holiday Course shall be reimbursed. 3/ Raasay Music Courses/ Sarah Watts; 1 Accepts no responsibility for loss, damage or theft of instruments or personal belongings. 2 Reserves the right to substitute tutors as originally advertised but will, when possible advise you of any such change(s). If we are unable to replace an indisposed tutor and as a result the course cannot take place, we will refund any monies paid. 3 Reserves the right to cancel any course without giving reasons. In this event we strive to give maximum notice and will refund all monies paid in full. 4/ Reserves the right to vary the course programme without notice and to refuse any application for a course without giving reasons. 5/ Shall not divulge the status of course bookings at any point, nor details of others who have booked onto a course. 6/ Will not normally accept unaccompanied children under the age of sixteen on any course. Charges for accommodation and meals apply to all accompanying carers. 7/ Takes no responsibility for errors in any publicly distributed materials. 8/ Takes no responsibility for the quality of services or products offered by advertisers and on-site vendors. 9/ Is not responsible for items reported lost which cannot be found. A charge, to cover Post & Package, is made for lost property returned to you after your departure. Items can be held for a maximum of 1 month unless agreed in advance. 4. Use of images in publicity material We may take photographs that include clients during their stay which we use in our publicity materials. If you would prefer your image not to appear in such materials please let us know. Otherwise acceptance of a
place on a course implies consent for your image to appear in our publicity materials.
