Helloworld Travel Esperance WHATS HAPPENING IN MAR 2020 Welcome to this months newsletter where we can share with you what is happening in the world of travel this month. We welcome you to share this with others and encourage you to look at our website when thinking about any travel. All enquiries come through to this store. A word from Anna the owner and heart of Helloworld Esperance. This has been one of the toughest months in my chosen career of the proud owner of Helloworld Travel Esperance. My staff and I have worked around the clock to try to keep up with boarder closures, flights cancelling, 6 hourly changes to DFAT, local time differences and above all trying to keep people calm and get them home. All the while feeling the very backbone of my business crumbling because of its surroundings. I had 3 very exhausted consultants but we gained strength from all the messages, chocolates and people popping by just to say they are thinking of us. We thank you all for that support shown , it really help with morale. I can say I feel like a cyclone has come through and we thought it would just be a breeze. And after the passing we are still standing with everything in place. We are one of the lucky ones. Now its time to catch up with our clients and lodge insurance forms, put in place credits and refunds and work towards making sure all our clients feel comfortable moving forward. I think at this point we have actually touched base with all. You have all seen in the press there are online platforms that have gone into receivership, cruise wholesalers have as well. Flight Centre will be shutting 100 stores nationally. Helloworld have also had to stand down staff for the time being until June. I want- ed to point out that I own my store and have done so successfully for 16 years. My business is my heart and soul and my staff are like family. We are safe and strong within the business. I think more than ever we are going to recognize why booking locally really matters. We are all full time at present to cope with trying to reor- ganize what has just happened in the world. My door is closed at present because of the rules put in place but it will open again and be just as welcoming as before. We still have many hundreds of bookings in place in the second half of the year and going into next year. So for now we are only guided by the information from the Governments in Countries and this intern allows airlines, tour companies etc to move forward a little at a time. That’s is why at present we are only confident with information presented to our office for travel up until end of April or mid May. As the weeks go on everything will unfold and we will be guided and be able to pass on this infor- mation.
Thank you all for trusting my business and I hope all of you stay safe and healthy during these uncertain time. Please don’t hesitate to call the office or email if you have a questions relating to your travel or airlines, cruises or tours. Here are some fun picks of the girls from the office flying over to Sydney and hopping aboard this cruise ship. Teija and Shannon have never been on a ship so this was a great opportunity to experience one of the most popular past times, although not so sure now.. This 3 days was filled with information and fun for the girls to immerse themselves in and be able to see what a great industry they have chosen to be a part of. All these opportunities are only available because of the loyalty we have in Esperance. I was the only office in WA and NT to be able to send 3 girls from the same office. We are in the top 20 offices nationally for turnover. This was a bit of a gift for having such a great year last year. 3
9 in 10 Aussies attracted to risky destinations: How much of a risk taker are you when it comes to choosing a destination for yourself? New research has revealed how adventurous, or possibly reckless, Australian travellers are. According to the study, by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the Insurance Council of Australia’s Understand Insurance initiative, 87% of Australians aspiring to travel abroad are attracted to places that carry risk or are off the beaten path, while about 60% of travellers under 30yrs say they are attracted to adventurous destinations. Another 32% of the Aussies surveyed also said they would probably still travel if DFAT raised its travel advice level on the Smartraveller website to level 3 ‘Reconsider your need to travel’. A quarter (25%) of those said ‘the appeal of the destination justified the risk. While more than half of Australian travellers’ top three destinations are countries with a Smartraveller level 2, 3 or 4 advice level, many Aussies are still forgoing insurance. According to the study, one in ten travellers don’t buy travel insurance, with one in seven (15%) of those saying they expected to be safe in their destination and one in four (wrongly) assuming the Government will pay for medical treatment or repatriation if something goes awry. “Travellers should check Smartraveller advisories when planning, booking and prior to departure on an international trip,” understandinsurance.com.au spokesperson Lisa Kable said. “Advisories for 177 countries are monitored and can change levels at any time depending on the risk to travellers. “Risks include: disease, natural disasters, civil unrest, war, terrorism activity, volatile security and political situations, banditry, kidnapping, carjacking and vio- lent opportunistic crime targeting foreigners.
