Webinars • All our webinars will be hosted on BB Collaborate; all students who sign up will receive a link to the webinars. • If you want to review and download the handouts for the webinars after the conference, you can see them on Quercus as of May 4. • Transcripts will be available the week of May 11th. • Video recordings will be up on Quercus after the conference. Panel Discussion • The employer panel and alumni panel will be hosted on Zoom. A personalized link will be sent to everyone who signs-up the day before each panel and will be posted on the conference page on Blackboard. You will be required to sign-in to the panel using your University of Toronto email. Accessibility and Accommodations • If you have requests or questions about accessibility or accommodations, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 905-828-5451 or email us at careers.utm@utoronto.ca. • One of our career counsellors, Malou, works with Accessibility services; check out her video on the SJH Quercus page. Don’t hesitate to call our office at 905-828-5451 or email us at careers.utm@utoronto.ca to make an appointment with Malou for your career and job search concerns. What technology will I need to participate in the event? • In light of recent events, we have moved all of our webinars for the SJH conference to BB Connect on QUERCUS. All webinars will be held virtually. You will be sent the link to the conference after registration on CLNx. We recommend all students have access to a computer, reliable internet and a quiet space where you can put aside the time to engage. Headphones can also help with the experience. • Please note that Quercus may have compatibility issues with browsers such as Microsoft Edge or Microsoft Explorer. For best results, we recommend Chrome or Firefox. • The employer and alumni panels will be presented via Zoom and you will be asked to sign-in to each session using your University of Toronto email account. • BB Collaborate has an option for students to call in (using a phone number) to listen to the conference rather than using speakers or headphones; however, please note that this number is long-distance and typical long distance charges from your phone provider will apply. • BB Collaborate recommends all unnecessary applications running on the computer be turned off while using the platform for best performance. We recommend only having BB Collaborate and Quercus open during our webinars.
• If you are having trouble accessing technologies that you need for the conference, please call us at 905-828-5451 or email us at careers.utm@utoronto.ca for alternatives. What if I don’t have access to reliable internet (e.g. I’m relying on my phone data)? • Our webinars will be recorded and will be available for download; our slides and handouts will be available to be downloaded as well. We will also have a transcript available for all of our webinars in a few weeks after the conference that is a low-data way to access the information. Do I have to sit there throughout the entire conference? What if I need to step away (medical reasons, bathroom breaks, prayers etc.)? • As the conference is in a virtual format, feel free to take breaks as needed throughout the conference! We have spread the conference throughout the course of five days, and students have the flexibility to choose whichever sessions work best for them. If you need to step away from the screen at any time, feel free – we are not keeping track! What if I have a question about the material? How do I get in contact with the facilitator? • All our webinars will have a chat option that allows you to send your questions in to the facilitator for them to be answered. All questions are anonymous – only yourself and the facilitator will see them, though the answer to your question will be available for everyone in the webinar to read. You can also contact us via livechat, call us at (905) 569-4455 or connect with us via email at careers.utm@utoronto.ca. • Our facilitators will also have their email addresses available and you can connect with them directly. What if I disconnect half-way during the conference? Can I rejoin? • Yes, you can! You will not disturb the facilitator or the other conference attendees by rejoining the session. You can use the same link that was sent to you for the conference. What is Feedback Friday? • Feedback Friday is a day in the conference where students can get peer feedback on their resumes and interview answers. Our facilitators will also be available to answer questions. We recommend that you update your resume by removing all personal detail (email, phone number, other contact information) as you will be sharing your document with a peer. What communication aids are available? • Only those that were requested in advance. Transcripts of the conference will be available after the conference as well on our Quercus page.
Will presenters be sharing their presentations? Will note takers be available? • Presentation materials are available to all attendees after the conference. We do not plan to have note takers; however, transcripts of all the webinars will be available after the event.
