Entry Requirements Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with at least 70 ECTS Psychology and 30 ECTS Methods For applicants whose first language is not English, the awarding universities set a minimum English Language proficiency level: — IELTS 6.5 Test Academic — TOEFL-Test of at least 92 points — TOEIC-Test of at least 720 points in listening & reading and 310 points in speaking & writing — Cambridge [Advanced (CAE) Grade C, First Certificate in English (FCE) Grade A, First Certificate in English (FCE) Grade B] — successfully completed university degree where the language of instruction is English — certificate of an English-speaking, upper-secondary school school entitling the applicant to study in the respective country www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/node/363039/requirements Work & Organizational Psychology (M.Sc) 25.01.2019 10
Application Documents All applicants have to hand in — A recent passport picture — A copy of a valid passport or the EU/EEA identity cars — A copy of the recent certified grades transcript and a copy of the certified diploma (if already obtained) — Curriculum vitae using a standardized form (see UM Website) — Motivation letter using a standardized form (see UM Website) — Proof of English proficiency. Selection Procedure / Interview Applicants who meet the admission requirements will be invited for the second part of the selection, which consists of an admission test in research methods and statistics and an individual 20-minute interview (via Skype) conducted by members of the Joint Board of Admissions. The Interview will contain the following elements — Part 1: questions based on application files (motivation letter, CV) can be addressed (e.g. research experience) — Part 2: with the invitation to the interview, applicants have received a research article which they are asked to study before the interview; in the interview we will ask them questions about the article — Part 3: expectations for the study program www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/node/363039/admission-registration Work & Organizational Psychology (M.Sc) 25.01.2019 12
Selection Procedure / Test The test consists of the following elements — Essay question(s) testing fundamental methodological knowledge (e.g. “Researchers claim that cross-sectional survey designs do not allow drawing causal conclusions. Why is that so? Which designs overcome the shortcomings of cross-sectional designs and allow drawing causal conclusions? Explain why”); — Applicants are provided with a research article (without abstract) and are asked to provide a 500- word summary of it following a template (introduction and purpose, design/methodology, results, research/practical implications); — Procedure: Participants will receive the test at the end of the interview via mail and will have 90 minutes to complete it and to send it back. www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/node/363039/admission-registration Work & Organizational Psychology (M.Sc) 25.01.2019 13
Admission On the basis of the interview, the test results and an evaluation of all available information, the Joint Board of Admissions judges the knowledge and skills level, attitude and motivation relevant to the program that embraces the scientist-innovator model. — motivation and willingness to acquire knowledge in the area of Work and Organizational Psychology; — motivation and ability to critically analyze the research base in the specific domain of Work and Organizational psychology; — attitude and communication skills necessary for a future career in the relevant settings; — motivation and ability to further scientific developments in the field of Work and Organizational psychology; — openness to learning within different international environments; — Excellent command of English.
